That's plenty. Microsoft overcame its negative press with the Xbox One, and so can Nintendo with the Wii U (they just need to port it all over to a snazzier box).

If true, this is... fine. It stings not having Zelda at launch, and it'll certainly hurt sales and perception, but there's still enough cool stuff here for me to buy it at launch. Plus, a Zelda demo is hype, even if it's just the E3 version. I can't miss that!

Splatoon is a good pack-in because Nintendo fans don't want to buy a multiplayer only game. Not having (old) Smash Bros. or (old) Mario Kart at launch is pathetic and not having Zelda is worse.

I think Echoes is just plain divisive. It's a 10/10 game that some people hate, therefore divisive.

I'll only miss this in Monster Hunter, but, since the screen is larger, it'll be fine if they just connect the map display to the corresponding item.

I'd rather throw them out of my trunk and into a ditch. Maps are capital-b Bad for level design. They become a crutch too easily (could you imagine what Ubisoft would have done with an Assassin's Creed map on the gamepad screen?).

Update: Super Mario Maker for 3DS has removed 3DS support.

It's difficult, because I prefer Symphonia, Strikers, and Metroid Prime's sequels on Wii. Of course the GCN versions are still great. So many good games!

Pokemon NX needs new pokemon, plain and simple. And not Sun and Moon's: new pokemon of its own. The console pokemon were always second-fiddle to the handheld games for that reason.

These would be fine. It'd be nice if they'd stop remaking Blaziken, but Rowlet and Popplio ver. 3.0 are solid. I think I'll have to wait and see how they animated to make my choice.

@GrailUK Actually it's better than you'd think. A racing game on a track takes you 5-10 minutes. An open world racing game, however, takes you however long your navigational skills can support.

An JRPG with a traditional overworld with some dungeons and towns might take you 40 hours. The Witcher 3 and Skyrim take you 400.

You cannot simply ignore how open worlds make the act of traveling a major gameplay component. After all, what else are genres made for?

@GrailUK Objectives are a terrible determiner of genres. If that were the case, action/adventures would be action games would be brawlers.

@VanillaLake I agree with... your entire post! Breath is going to need a really clever narrative hook / twist to pull itself all together.

And it IS a genre...

I bet this is Nintendo's way of providing backwards compatibility. The NX will probably run "all Nintendo games," but not all will be digitally released, and cartridges obviously won't work on a new system. This way Nintendo can silence the inevitably detractors from their new system's selling point. With DS and NES down, all they have to do is SNES, GBA, and maybe GCN.

The only words I see on this page are "Monster Hunter."
