That's plenty. Microsoft overcame its negative press with the Xbox One, and so can Nintendo with the Wii U (they just need to port it all over to a snazzier box).
If true, this is... fine. It stings not having Zelda at launch, and it'll certainly hurt sales and perception, but there's still enough cool stuff here for me to buy it at launch. Plus, a Zelda demo is hype, even if it's just the E3 version. I can't miss that!
Splatoon is a good pack-in because Nintendo fans don't want to buy a multiplayer only game. Not having (old) Smash Bros. or (old) Mario Kart at launch is pathetic and not having Zelda is worse.
"...kiss those GamePad inventories and maps goodbye."
I'd rather throw them out of my trunk and into a ditch. Maps are capital-b Bad for level design. They become a crutch too easily (could you imagine what Ubisoft would have done with an Assassin's Creed map on the gamepad screen?).
[whispers] That's because the Gamecube was better. In every way. The only thing the Wii U has up on the Gamecube is Monster Hunter, and that's because in 2001 Monster Hunter hadn't even been invented yet.
1. Twilight Princess 2. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door 3. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes 4. Tales of Symphonia 5. Luigi's Mansion
It's difficult, because I prefer Symphonia, Strikers, and Metroid Prime's sequels on Wii. Of course the GCN versions are still great. So many good games!
Yes, this is exactly what I want! This will be so much damn fun with Breath of the Wild. Just imagine how much all of the media for Skyrim sold that game after its launch.
Hmm. It was kind of nice that they owned a team local to their North American office. Still, not the greatest loss. Even us Washingtonians don't care about the Mariners :/
Pokemon NX needs new pokemon, plain and simple. And not Sun and Moon's: new pokemon of its own. The console pokemon were always second-fiddle to the handheld games for that reason.
These would be fine. It'd be nice if they'd stop remaking Blaziken, but Rowlet and Popplio ver. 3.0 are solid. I think I'll have to wait and see how they animated to make my choice.
@GrailUK Actually it's better than you'd think. A racing game on a track takes you 5-10 minutes. An open world racing game, however, takes you however long your navigational skills can support.
An JRPG with a traditional overworld with some dungeons and towns might take you 40 hours. The Witcher 3 and Skyrim take you 400.
You cannot simply ignore how open worlds make the act of traveling a major gameplay component. After all, what else are genres made for?
I bet this is Nintendo's way of providing backwards compatibility. The NX will probably run "all Nintendo games," but not all will be digitally released, and cartridges obviously won't work on a new system. This way Nintendo can silence the inevitably detractors from their new system's selling point. With DS and NES down, all they have to do is SNES, GBA, and maybe GCN.
@Dezzy The problem is you're not even conserving something. You're saying purely that "It would be bad if Nintendo did more. Don't add a cosmetic option to the game." Nothing's being taken away from you, ya big Zelda fan. Stop acting so offended over nothing.
@Dezzy You're argue that what is should stay as it is, simply because it already is. That's nothing more than circular logic. Mere entropy. Spout as many platitudes as you please, that doesn't suddenly give you a point.

Re: Nintendo Share Value Dives Following US Presidential Result, But Recovery Is Likely
@LegendOfPokemon Brexit is dead in the water.
Everyone knows Trump was a mistake, including a plurality of voters.
Re: Ubisoft CEO Praises "True Innovation" Of Switch, Teases "Surprise" Game In Development
Well damn — at least he's not negative on it! Haha.
Re: Feature: 20 Wii U and 3DS Games Perfect for Halloween
"arguably divisive"
I think Echoes is just plain divisive. It's a 10/10 game that some people hate, therefore divisive.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Will Support Micro SDXC Cards Up To 128GB In Capacity
@SanderEvers I could buy two Switches with that much money.
Re: Poll: Nintendo Switch Delivers Single Screen Gaming - Will You Miss the Dual Screen Concept?
I'll only miss this in Monster Hunter, but, since the screen is larger, it'll be fine if they just connect the map display to the corresponding item.
New Monster Hunter next MARCH, by the way!

Not everyone wants to sink with the ship, guys.
Also, consider that neither he nor you are the captain...
Re: Nintendo is Reportedly Taking 'Final Orders' on Wii U Consoles From Retailers
@faint PSSSSSSST!
I already said Monster Hunter.

Re: Warp in The Legend of Zelda Opens Up Ability to Beat the Game in Under 3 Minutes
@KnockKnock In this instance it quite literally ruins the game. The guy said "or it'll crash," like, eight different times XD
Re: Warp in The Legend of Zelda Opens Up Ability to Beat the Game in Under 3 Minutes
@Spoony_Tech Good friggin' luck figuring all of this out in 5 minutes!
Re: Platinum Games Reveals Obscure Bayonetta 2 Secrets for Second Anniversary
How to make video game secrets stay secret in the internet age? Release the game on Wii U.
Re: Review: Citadale (Wii U eShop)
@Popful I think the problem is, Castlevania just deserves better copycats.

Pokemon NX needs new pokemon, plain and simple. And not Sun and Moon's: new pokemon of its own. The console pokemon were always second-fiddle to the handheld games for that reason.

I had no idea this existed.
Re: Hands On: How Will the "Open World" Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Suit a Traditional Gamer?
@GrailUK Sub-genre's fine. I just want people to understand how much open worlds change games.

Re: Hands On: How Will the "Open World" Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Suit a Traditional Gamer?
@GrailUK Objectives are a terrible determiner of genres. If that were the case, action/adventures would be action games would be brawlers.
Re: Hands On: How Will the "Open World" Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Suit a Traditional Gamer?
@VanillaLake I agree with... your entire post! Breath is going to need a really clever narrative hook / twist to pull itself all together.
Re: Hands On: How Will the "Open World" Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Suit a Traditional Gamer?
It's cute to see people who play only / mostly on Nintendo begin to discover the horrible, gaping maw of the open world genre.
And it IS a genre...

Re: Meet Salandit, The Latest New Pocket Monster in Pokémon Sun and Moon
This one actually looks decent. It strikes a good balance between under-designed and gaudy.
Re: Weirdness: Somebody Has Gotten Pokémon FireRed to Work in Minecraft
I don't understand how this even works. Did they like replicate the game's code inside Minecraft?
Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Scoops Major Best of Show Award from E3
@Charinzardon Exactly 10, haha. Hopefully Nintendo realizes that every console needs an ambitious Zelda title now.
Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Will Have amiibo Support
Excellent subhead.
Re: Rumour: French Media Claims Nintendo NX is Set for September Reveal
@Dakt Oh. Mah. Gawd. I'd be so ready for that, even relatively soon after Cross.

@Dark-Luigi The only thing mindless about this debate was the people championing the status quo purely for the sake of it.
Re: E3 2016: Nintendo E3 Zelda Badge Appears to Suggest Male and Female Link
This would be cool to see, but lanyards are not the definitive clue.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo UK Hints at More Mario Kart 8 DLC
This could just be an awkward community tweet. Either that or Mario Kart 8 NX DLC.
Re: Poll: Do You Want The Rumoured 'MH' Next Generation Portable to be Separate from NX?
How did anyone read this and not immediately think 'Monster Hunter?'
