The PS4 has been out for the better part of four years and the Switch is only now nearing six months, so it's only natural that most people bought a Switch in addition to and after their PS4. If you want a real comparison, judge PS4 Pro owners against the Switch install base (and even then it's not exactly clear cut because a ton of PS4 Pro owners had a regular PS4 first).
Those rope sections were very Super Mario Sunshine, and some of the literal platform sections looked a lot like Galaxy.
There were also two consecutive shots that looked almost exactly like Ocarina of Time's Haunted Wasteland and Death Mountain Crater. Regardless of those odd similarities, I'm now a little interested in this game. Hopefully these PC developers can optimize a game to save their life.
@shadow-wolf It's more of a screw around simulator, as opposed to a 3D Zelda game. Nothing has any weight anymore since the items are few and the puzzles copy-pasted and generally lackluster. With only four Ruta-level 'dungeons' and a bunch of shrines that just feel like going through the motions, the world is just so cheap. None of the open world's level design has any handcrafted intent to it, and you're just left with a lot of walking, collecting, and decent combat.
If you watched the GDC thing you know the main reason the 3D Zelda team made Breath of the Wild is because they're unable or unwilling to make games to the standard of past 3D Zeldas.
I think this could be enjoyable in the same way Child of Light was. Hopefully the quasi-turn-based combat feels as impactful as it did in the trailer, and that the side-scrolling traversal has a point to it.
The left Joy-Con just shattered because it landed directly on it, but the rest of the console was totally alright. The benefit of compartmentalized product designs I suppose.
And of course this is a gross display of waste with weird music editing, and that stability update joke was sick.
I feel like all of these games are great. And look at how steep that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate discount is on Wii U. That's legit a 500-hour game for $8.
@NEStalgia I mean the current Zelda team didn't make Twilight Princess and The Wind Waker by that same measure, but it doesn't make me stop wanting that.
@Dakt If you read my post rather than ignoring it you'd know that I just addressed that. And the same attack rate for XX on PS4 would mean a quarter of the sales in Japan, with 5 million being a generous rounding up of the install base. Monster Hunter has sold multiple millions of copies several times over in its fourth generation based entirely on handhelds. The most successful installments in the franchise — Freedom Unite and Portable 3rd — were both on handhelds. You're only convincing yourself that Monster Hunter needs dedicated consoles.
Of course the games are on a downward trend — they've been repackaging and making tweaks to Monster Hunter 4 since 2013 in Japan. When Monster Hunter 5 releases sales will spike back up, although probably not to Freedom Unite or Portable 3rd levels.
@Kenology I'm not staking anything on MH5 coming to PS4 / other platforms or not. Even if it does, it's really not going to look shinier like people anticipate.
@Dakt You're crazy if you don't think Monster Hunter 5 will be on both Switch and 3DS. Japan has spoken, and PS4 isn't even at 5 million there yet. Meanwhile Switch is consistently sold out and Splatoon 2 and the port of XX will tee up the bat plenty, even if 5 is also on PS4.
@BinaryFragger Preeeetty much. People are dumb like that.
Two things, One: Generations X is a terrible title. Just call it Double Cross like they should have in the first place.
Two: Monster Hunter 5 is almost definitely also coming to 3DS. They also fit the open world Monster Hunter Stories on 3DS, so who knows how limited it will or won't be. Regardless, a ton of people own 3DS' so it would be mad not to release the game on both, especially in Japan.
This is probably a 2018 game for us, possibly a Japanese release this year.
However, two teams make Monster Hunter, and the Cross games were never the main one. Monster Hunter 4 released in 2013, with the ultimate version coming a year later. The team has been making Monster Hunter 5 since then — almost definitely for 3DS to start, but we will almost definitely see a Switch version and a closer to worldwide release now. We'll probably hear about it in 2018, and it'll be out around spring 2019.
I think me buying Destiny 2 is pretty unrealistic. The last great thing Bungie made was Halo 3 ODST, since then it's all been half-assed campaigns and MMO garbage.
@NEStalgia Got it right: this is very reminiscent of Ebay users passing off Xbox 360 boxes as systems. It's still very weird and deceptive if not properly labeled and explained, but at least it's only for a few hundred yen ($5). My local news had to do a consumer report because those Xbox boxes were being sold for $400!
It's a very layered game, so it makes sense that they rolled it out the way that they did. Probably should have stuck DNA man in the April Direct instead of a random web trailer, though. He's a standout character.
This seems like a feature than Sonic fans will really enjoy. It's nice that they will be able to exercise their, erm, creativity and have it somewhat codified.
Nintendo needs to put more into social cooperative gaming. Namely, Monster Hunter. That's the only online multiplayer I've ever been able to enjoy, and it would be folly for them to waste the opportunity presented by the Switch.
That headline is misleading because it ignores the context. Something like 'Rime Switch eShop price lowered to crossplatform par" would much better inform anyone who sees this article.
This is the consequences of the PCMR crowd's relentless entitlement. I don't mean the fake kind of 'entitlement' used to demonize poor people, but rather the kind that promotes egoistic identification with a platform among people who can clearly afford to buy the product they're ripping off.
@Spiders I was speaking in regard to my own tastes. Metacritic scores make objectively incredible games to Metacritic people, of which I am not one.
And good or bad performance doesn't shift my opinion on a game one iota. I just do not see a reason to spent $20 and my time to play a game that's literally about pushing buttons and nothing more mapped to some neat, indistinct music. I would even have trouble buying a Daft Punk or System of a Down rhythm game, and that's music I actually care about. I just need more to a game to ever justify spending time with it, pulse-pounding or not.
I'd play a demo, but I'm not sure I'd ever buy this. It's just a very simple game mapped to some indistinct visuals and action scene music. A rhythm game without either popular music or a self-defining original soundtrack like any other game is just button pressing to me.
It's hard to fit a 2017 AAA game onto an original 3DS without the D-pad. Still, everyone who owns a Switch and no other accessory has the ability to play singleplayer with a full range of control with either motion or pad controls, as well as 2-player splitscreen. Beyond that it's like any console: if you want more players, buy another controller.

If it doesn't even have the story mode there's no way I would even consider buying a sports game.
