Re: Sony Thinks You'll Buy A PlayStation 4 Alongside Your Nintendo Switch

Haru17

The PS4 has been out for the better part of four years and the Switch is only now nearing six months, so it's only natural that most people bought a Switch in addition to and after their PS4. If you want a real comparison, judge PS4 Pro owners against the Switch install base (and even then it's not exactly clear cut because a ton of PS4 Pro owners had a regular PS4 first).

Re: Poi Is Coming to the Nintendo Switch

Those rope sections were very Super Mario Sunshine, and some of the literal platform sections looked a lot like Galaxy.

There were also two consecutive shots that looked almost exactly like Ocarina of Time's Haunted Wasteland and Death Mountain Crater. Regardless of those odd similarities, I'm now a little interested in this game. Hopefully these PC developers can optimize a game to save their life.

Re: Zelda: Breath of the Wild Director Says the Game’s Design Could Become the New Standard

@shadow-wolf It's more of a screw around simulator, as opposed to a 3D Zelda game. Nothing has any weight anymore since the items are few and the puzzles copy-pasted and generally lackluster. With only four Ruta-level 'dungeons' and a bunch of shrines that just feel like going through the motions, the world is just so cheap. None of the open world's level design has any handcrafted intent to it, and you're just left with a lot of walking, collecting, and decent combat.

Re: Capcom Unleashes Debut Trailer and Details on Monster Hunter XX for Nintendo Switch

Haru17

@Dakt If you read my post rather than ignoring it you'd know that I just addressed that. And the same attack rate for XX on PS4 would mean a quarter of the sales in Japan, with 5 million being a generous rounding up of the install base. Monster Hunter has sold multiple millions of copies several times over in its fourth generation based entirely on handhelds. The most successful installments in the franchise — Freedom Unite and Portable 3rd — were both on handhelds. You're only convincing yourself that Monster Hunter needs dedicated consoles.

Re: Nintendo Gains Over $2 Billion in Market Value Following Monster Hunter XX Announcement

@BinaryFragger Preeeetty much. People are dumb like that.

Two things, One: Generations X is a terrible title. Just call it Double Cross like they should have in the first place.

Two: Monster Hunter 5 is almost definitely also coming to 3DS. They also fit the open world Monster Hunter Stories on 3DS, so who knows how limited it will or won't be. Regardless, a ton of people own 3DS' so it would be mad not to release the game on both, especially in Japan.

Re: Capcom Is Bringing Monster Hunter XX to the Switch

Haru17

This is probably a 2018 game for us, possibly a Japanese release this year.

However, two teams make Monster Hunter, and the Cross games were never the main one. Monster Hunter 4 released in 2013, with the ultimate version coming a year later. The team has been making Monster Hunter 5 since then — almost definitely for 3DS to start, but we will almost definitely see a Switch version and a closer to worldwide release now. We'll probably hear about it in 2018, and it'll be out around spring 2019.

Re: The ARMS Global Testpunch Begins On May 26th

It's a very layered game, so it makes sense that they rolled it out the way that they did. Probably should have stuck DNA man in the April Direct instead of a random web trailer, though. He's a standout character.

Re: This Switch eShop Trailer for Thumper Should Get You Warmed Up

Haru17

@Spiders I was speaking in regard to my own tastes. Metacritic scores make objectively incredible games to Metacritic people, of which I am not one.

And good or bad performance doesn't shift my opinion on a game one iota. I just do not see a reason to spent $20 and my time to play a game that's literally about pushing buttons and nothing more mapped to some neat, indistinct music. I would even have trouble buying a Daft Punk or System of a Down rhythm game, and that's music I actually care about. I just need more to a game to ever justify spending time with it, pulse-pounding or not.

Re: EDGE Magazine Reveals How A Single Joy-Con Works in Arms

It's hard to fit a 2017 AAA game onto an original 3DS without the D-pad. Still, everyone who owns a Switch and no other accessory has the ability to play singleplayer with a full range of control with either motion or pad controls, as well as 2-player splitscreen. Beyond that it's like any console: if you want more players, buy another controller.
