Re: Sony Once Again Takes A Leaf From Nintendo's Playbook In Japan

HalfAWorldAway

Nintendo has been on top of it since the Switch released, getting most things right, while i am not the biggest advocate of NSO rental service, its been more affordable than psplus or gamepass, i would have preferred virtual console though.

The Switch has perhaps the best library in the history of gaming, Nintendo has delivered a ton of great games on the platform, whilst i can't say the same for Sony, all the great games they had on earlier systems have been forgotten, we spent so much time on games like Singstar, buzz, Uncharted, Killzone, Infamous now all gone.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

HalfAWorldAway

Game Freak are essentially printing money with this release, as we all know Pokemon is a Juggernaut of a franchise, but here is a game framed as a AAA release with the minimal of effort put in whilst it looks like a budget title that you would expected to pay no more than 15 bucks for, Silksong showed the worth and value of a game done right.

Both my kids turned their nose up at the game when they seen it, i picked up 2 copies thinking we'd play at the same time like last game.

I took a gander at metacritic to see the scores, and much like other high profile games of late there is a real disconnect between reviewers and gamers, overall quality of titles are diminishing rapidly but seem to be propped up by games media to the bemusement of gamers, holding games creators to higher standards has all but disappeared.

Personally i am not finished with Z-A, i am hoping it will click for me soon, but the lack of voice acting, battling is uninspired and feels like a cooldown simulator, and the city feels soulless.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Switch 2 Rating Spotted Online

The fact that Ubisoft were making an Assassin's Creed game set in Japan was an exciting proposition, as details came out about the playable characters then excitement began to fade.

Certain characters in games seem to be shoehorned in these day, for many they are not believable, other huge franchise's have done this.

AC set the bar high with Characters such as Ezio and Edward Kenway.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

HalfAWorldAway

A decent game, but not a 9/10 level game, lets be honest, 7 or 8 range.

I've played a few of these Sonic Racing games overs the years and Crossworlds is the only one that has truely clicked so far, all these games have to have some sort of gimmick instead of focusing on tight racing and interesting tracks, Nintendo has been guilty of this way too often, that's why we don't get an F-zero or even a Starfox game because they have to shoehorn in a gimmick.

Re: Review: EA SPORTS FC 26 (Switch 2) - A Fantastic Football Game, Once You're Used To The Frame Rate

I dropped of playing fifa games after 19, had been playing since the first game back on the Mega Drive, these days there just Isn't competition for football games, EA have settled into a rut.

Back in the day we had sensible soccer, kick off, super soccer, striker and even the likes of Nintendo world cup and a load of others including tonns of football management games.

For me the pinnacle of Fifa games was the 2010 world cup game, slowly but surely its been downhill since.

Re: Poll: Three Months In, How Would You Rate Switch 2's Library So Far?

HalfAWorldAway

Donkey Kong Bananza is the stand out experience, although a little short, my son finished the game, i think used about 15 hours.

Kirby and Mario Party are to be honest cheap cash grabs, Drag X Drive is basically to show how the Switch 2 joycons can be used as a mouse.

Cyberpunk can be played elsewhere

Hopefully they get the ball rolling with some new experiences soon, Metroid is taking so long.

Re: Poll: Three Months In, How Would You Rate Switch 2's Library So Far?

For me it been lackluster.

Mario Kart World whilst a fun game, i fell off pretty quickly i played about 10 hours so far, beat the Grand Prixs, they did something strange that i never seen in a Mario Kart game before when you win gold on 100cc it automatically registered gold on the lower difficulty, ie 50cc, giving no reason to play that difficulty level, i don't appreciate these so called intermission tracks at all, they are so jarring, they take me out of the Mario Kart experience.

To be honest they seem to have lost direction with this game, this feeling reminds me when Starfield came out, the idea of Fallout in space and go anywhere you want sounded amazing, same here here for Mario Kart World, drive anywhere you want, just like Starfield in reality it doesn't really add up to much fun.

Re: Video: Trails In The Sky 1st Chapter DLC Overview Trailer Released

HalfAWorldAway

Started the demo on this and will be picking this up, in fact i have already ordered, the Switch physical.

Trails seems a daunting series to get into well now is the perfect time with this entry.

I played thought cold steel 1 and 2 on ps4, those were fun , great story and plot twists and now most of the series is on The Nintendo Switch it easier to get into as all games are in one place, i think we are missing Cold Steel 1 and 2 but they surely come to the west as they are already on the Japanese eshop.

Re: Mario Kart World Has Been Updated To Version 1.2.1, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

HalfAWorldAway

I like playing a few rounds of online races, but that system of driving between courses got old real quick.

Also would like to add I think course design on newer MK tracks since the booster pack for MK8 deluxe has been far from stellar, the original dlc tracks we got on the Wii U version were fantastic, a few stand out tracks here and there but the never fully reach the Double Dash days of greatness.
