Everything looks great aside from the Hard Mode. it seems like very very minor differences to have to PAY for. Looking forward to the other new features though.
Oh awesome! I held off on buying just for this! Shame the Switch ver will likely come later than other versions, but as long as it gets one I'm pleased
The 3DS is one of the best consoles I've ever owned, honestly. I'm excited for games like Ever Oasis, RPG Maker Fes, and Etrian Odyssey V (when it finally gets localized) among the other Atlus games on the way.
It's not that I think the Switch and 3DS can't coexist, just that I really want Nintendo to focus their development resources to Switch. If third parties want to ride the 3DS train for a year or two more, I'm okay with that. I just want Nintendo themselves to focus on their brand new console with unlimited potential as opposed to their 6-year-old handheld.
Everyone is quick to say "W-Well yeah but E3 sucks anyway" when Nintendo isn't going, but if they DID announce that they will have a stage show everyone would be hyped beyond comprehension saying "OMG NINTENDO IS BUSTING OUT THE BIG GUNS THIS YEAR!"
I don't mind the digital events, but I do miss the days of big reveals and crowd reactions... Well, okay, I miss big Nintendo reveals and crowd reactions, because Sony still delivered during that E3 when they showed off the FFVII remake and Shenmue III.
Again, I think the digital events work well for what they set out to accomplish, but to me, this just says that this E3 will be par for the course. A big reveal or two and a bunch of info on games we already know about... This news just gives me a gut feeling that we all need to start lowering our expectations, the sooner the better. Hopefully I'm wrong.
Nintendo shows off the NES style prototype for BotW "OMG they should release it I would love to play this!"
Fan begins work to recreate it since Nintendo will probably never let us play it anyway "OH MY GOD MAKE YOUR OWN GAME YOU DIRTY THIEF HOW DARE YOU SOIL THE HOLY NINTENDO NAME!"
Wow, I'm actually kinda surprised at Konami's dedication to this game. I mean it's a Switch exclusive too. Though the Switch's current popularity and small library (for the time being) has probably been good for this game... I'm awful interested in it now, honestly.
I have to say that I'm very intrigued by combat as a whole. I really like the idea of mixing and matching different types of arms. That said, I hope there's more characters on the way. I like the design and aesthetics so far, but none of the characters really speak to me.
Hm, that's a little surprising to me, honestly. I think the $300 is a pretty good price, it's the accessories that really drive the overall costs up.
@NoxAeturnus
Oh my gosh, yes! I just played Persona 5 for like 4 hours and it's already so good. Come on Atlus, let's strike a bargain. Make a PS4 version of the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei game for Switch, and port P5 to Switch! I mean, P5 was originally a PS3 game, and it's just a turn based RPG. I'm pretty sure the Switch could handle it.
I'm not opposed to this in the slightest. Breath of the Wild is one of the greatest games I've played, and I think the formula is great to expand upon.
I was able to hunt a Switch down at a Target yesterday. Before leaving my house, I called around at a few stores, but none of them had it. I was about to stop, but called one more. They actually had one! Problem is, they were about 30ish minutes away. Alright... No biggie. It's a random wednesday at 10am, I should be fine, right? Well, as it turns out, I got there, and they had sold the last Switch just five minutes before I got there... Luckily, another Target about 10 minutes away had one too, so I blitzed over and was able to snag it. The employee told me I had beat about 9 other people who called and were "five minutes away."
Anyway... It's still too early to tell if the Switch will be a great success yet. I definitely think it will do better than the Wii U. The concept is simple yet appealing and Nintendo has actually advertised it. At least, they must be, because as it turns out, a LOT of people I've talked to know about it, and many of them want one too. Even though the launch lineup is, in my opinion, pretty weak (Zelda is amazing but not even exclusive), I do think launching in March was a good choice, because it seems like we'll be getting a decent stream of quality titles over the year.
I have to say I'm loving the speed of the system. I love how I can instantly take a screenshot of my game in the blink of an eye. It's only a little better than the Wii U's method of taking screenshots eh? That said, the speed is the only good thing about it so far. It's very, very barebones. I'm sure Nintendo will improve it with time, at least, I really hope they do. Given how many people actually know about this, I feel that features like internet browsers, netflix and other apps are very important, even moreso than I did before (because in my eyes consoles shouldn't be getting less features as they go on as has been the case with Nintendo). A lot of people are quick to say that they wouldn't use things like an internet browser, or that they have other devices for it, but that's just it, if the Switch had these features, it could honestly replace it for many people. If it had most of the basic features of a standard tablet PLUS a library of NINTENDO games? I truly feel that at that point, the Switch could possibly touch Wii numbers.
You know, I think this is ultimately for the best. That said... There will now be no version of Bloodstained with a second screen map. That is the real tragedy here, considering the last three Igavania games were on DS.
You know, I'm surprised the Switch has started as strong as it did. I know that the successful launch is due to 1) Nintendo actually marketed the damn thing and 2) Breath of the Wild is an incredible system seller (Even with it being on Wii U as well).
Although the PS4 has opened the floodgates with amazing games and announcements one after another in the past couple of years, it still sold incredibly well during its first few years, which were incredibly lack luster in my opinion. Part of that is probably because Microsoft blundered hard with the Xbox One initially, but I think it's mostly because of good advertising on Sony's part. Basically, what I'm saying is... Nintendo needs to continue the strong marketing. If they do, then I can actually see these numbers becoming a reality.
Of course, more amazing games like Breath of the Wild will help too.
WE STILL DON'T EVEN HAVE ETRIAN ODYSSEY V OUTSIDE OF JAPAN WHERE IS IT?
...Anyway, these are both exciting titles, especially that big collector's package for Etrian Mystery Dungeon. I still wish that the likes of these and the Radiant Historia update were coming to Switch instead. Yeah, I know the 3DS has a good install base, but it got to that point with the help of strong titles from Atlus like Etrian Odyssey IV and Shin Megami Tensei IV, among others.
After seeing all this, it's clear to me that Playtonic made a horrible mistake. I'm a fan of JonTron. Not a big fan, but I enjoy his content, usually. Up until today I didn't even know that he had a cameo in the game, and I didn't know about any of this controversy either. And I don't think that I would have if Playtonic just kept quiet about it. Playtonic could have kept quiet about this all and everything surrounding the game would be hunkey dory. Now this game will forever be known as "that Jontron controversy game" among avid gamers. I really hate that. Playtonic tried to make themselves look better, but really they just made the entire controversy spread like beans in a burrito. I wasn't super interested in this game to begin with, but I don't think I'll pick it up even on sale now. I can't support Playtonic's decision, and this comes from someone who doesn't necessarily agree with what Jon said either.
Club Nintendo was infinitely better, and there has been nothing in My Nintendo to convince me otherwise. Thing is, Club Nintendo was cool, but not even that great. That is to say, the bar wasn't set very high, but My Nintendo has been significantly worse, which is really something.
I definitely think this is the best Zelda. Skyward Sword's Zelda was made to be likeable from the start, but I can't stand playing that game lol. Tetra was pretty rad in Wind Waker, but her character changed completely when she turned into Zelda.
Oh my god, I just realized how easy it would be to play Secret of Mana 2 player with the Switch. My body has quite possibly never been as ready as it is feeling right at this moment
@DEZn00ts ...Really now? How did you come to the conclusion that I thought two game's wasn't enough for a month? Do you know what I was talking about in my original posts? I was referring to the bundle GameStop is trying to scam its customers with. You know, the $600 bundle that comes with BotW, a download code for Snipperclips, Just Dance, a pro controller and a bunch of other useless garbage to try and justify a price tag that's twice the amount of the console itself.
@Ryu_Niiyama Lol, I think the worst part about the deal is how it doesn't really come with anything worthwhile aside from BotW and Snipperclips. Everything else in the package isn't really worth it, aside from the pro controller, I think it has that. And the entire package costs twice as much as the console! Ridiculous, man...
nice, ports for the system I more than likely won't be able to find in stores any time soon. At least gamestop is graciously offering that steal of a bundle for $600!
Fun read. It's true, I've learned so much from friends and strangers alike about this game. Deflecting guardian lasers with shields, lightning is effective against Lynels, cut the legs of guardians first to get more items, shrine guardians respawn after blood moons... I hope this game convinces more game developers that it's okay to not just tell the player literally every detail and mechanic available. It's so much fun to learn either on your own or from a friend.
I can't wait to play this awesome looking game. I've wanted to play the original for some time, but I don't have a Master System and don't really want to emulate.
If it was a straight up port of a 2011 game... Yikes. Judging just by the screenshots a few comments above, that doesn't seem to be the case, thankfully. It wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo is making Todd Howard remain secretive on what exactly the game is because Nintendo.
@Snader I was going to write a lengthy response, but it really isn't worth it in a comment section filled with people adamant about defending everything Nintendo does.
I will, however, mention how you singled out one point of my entire comment, that being on a pack-in game. I don't know how my comment read like I'm an "entitled" gamer that was expecting a pack-in game when that's not the reality at all. I only pointed it out as another potential disappointment-- like the lack of space, which was my original complaint. Not lack of a pack-in game.
32gb was a lot more justifiable for the Wii U since it was a home console. With the Switch being portable, the idea of having games on the system and lowering the amount of things you need to carry around (Other game carts/cases etc) is more appealing, so it's disappointing that we have less than 32gb available out of the box.
I know that micro SD cards aren't that expensive, but I wouldn't really call them that cheap either. @KidRad Really? This is some of the best hand drawn visuals I've ever seen for a game that isn't pixel art.
