Re: Here's the Magearna Pokémon Sun and Moon QR Code for North America

Gorlokk

The games really do need a skip button considering the amount of cutscenes. It will make any replays pretty bothersome. That said, I didn't mind the cutscenes at all my first time through. If people are really complaining about the story in this game, then wow, I wonder if they played any other Pokemon games because Sun and Moon easily have the best story in all of Pokemon (aside from the Mystery Dungeon games of course). Not saying the story is a masterpiece or anything, but narrative has never been a focus for the series, this game possibly being the only exception.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo, the NES Mini and Ongoing Stock Problems

Gorlokk

I haven't bought anything made or published by Nintendo (aside from Tokyo Mirage Sessions and Sun and Moon) the past like, 6 months, so I haven't personally been affected by any of the stock shortages... Aside from when the Ness amiibo came out. I was pretty sure I would never get one, but I crapped my dungarees when GameStop had them in stock while I was pre ordering Sun and Moon.

Anyway, I've heard nothing but horror stories this year, and I'm getting really worried about the Switch. I really don't want to have to hunt one down.

Re: Video: DICO and Monobit Will Be Contributing to Bloodstained's Development

@Spoony_Tech Maybe because the Castlevania series has had a bigger presence on Nintendo than anywhere else? I'm super excited for this game, partially because of the GBA and DS Castlevania games that I fell in love with as a kid. And let's keep it real, is anyone really doubting a Switch version? It might not come day one but I really don't see why it wouldn't appear eventually.

I'm curious why of all styles they go for a '''''realistic''''' environment and atmosphere. Low polygonal graphics can actually work really well in some cases, but certainly not for realism.

Re: Feature: 10 Essential 3DS RPGs

Good list. Tales of the Abyss is a great game that I experienced first on the 3DS, but it's not like it's an incredible port. The 3D is very weak (though I guess it's better than nothing, sad that I have to say that but games seem to be abandoning that feature now), and as far as I know it didn't really add any new significant content.

Xenoblade is also just a port of a game that's not even that old. Great game-- amazing game, don't get me wrong, but I just think a port would be an odd choice. You could point out Soul Hackers and DQVII but those are more remakes, especially DQVII.

I might agree with someone else, that Stella Glow could fit on here too, maybe replacing FE Fates or Yokai Watch.

And also, Etrian Odyssey IV is a masterpiece. I think it's one of the few games that is, for me, a hands down 10/10 game. I highly recommended it to all classic JRPG fans and lovers of video game music (Yuzo Koshiro!!)

Re: Capcom "Researching" Viability Of PS4 And Xbox One Ports On Nintendo Switch

Gorlokk

I don't really care about "Resident Evil" 7, but I do really really hope the Resident Evil 2 remake gets a Switch port... How cool would that be, so many years later for RE2 to get a remake and a port on a console that uses cartridges, just like the original RE2 port on N64. Who would have ever thought a console would be using cartridges this far into the future?

Re: The November Monster Hunter Generations DLC is Now Live

Gorlokk

@Bananaman678 Yes. The game is an absolute mess. Not even one of the people who blindly hates on new mechanics and cards added to the game, like Synchros, Xyz, and Pendulums, but as far as the big three card games (Magic, Pokemon, and Yugioh), I feel safe in saying that Yugioh is by far the most broken and least enjoyable.

I feel like it's lost its identity over the years too. I wouldn't usually bring that up because the game is pretty old and change is inevitable, but I'm gonna bring it up because I hate the state of the game as is, so I'm just looking for other aspects to dislike about it lol.

Popipo was the first Vocaloid song I heard... Not the greatest to start with lol, but not so long after that I became a big vocaloid fan after listening to other songs.

Re: Pokémon Producer Still Interested in Producing Remakes

@GoldenGamer88
For real? What makes you interested in another remake of Gen 1? Not trying to sound mean, but I truly don't see anything to gain from a Gen 1 remake aside from seeing the game with better graphics.

I really hope gen 2 comes on virtual console at some point... I'm excited at the idea of a Gen 4 remake using the Sun and Moon engine, and maybe getting some... ''Sinnoh-nian'' variants of Pokemon.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of Pokémon Sun and Moon: Special Demo Version?

Gorlokk

Truthfully, the demo brought my overall hype for the game down, though I don't see that as a terribly bad thing. I was probably getting a bit too hyped, honestly.

For me, the pros were:
Movement feels better than ever. I think running just feels good.

The graphics in general also feel a lot more modern. Walking around a town with a moving camera, being able to talk to NPCs from any side, it's the little things like that.

As far as visuals go, the battles are great. Nice camera, cool hud, flashy move animations, character/trainer entrances at the beginning of the battle etc.

By far the best part of the demo for me was the sound. Some of the new tracks are great, like the main field you're in, and the trainer battle theme-- holy smokers that's incredible. I agree with what someone else said above though, the volume could be louder. Also, ambient Pokemon noises being heard all over is brilliant. Such a simple idea, but I find it incredibly immersive.

The cons are a lot of little things, but that said there were still a lot. I agree with what most people have said so far, but what stuck out to me the most were
Greninja being your only Pokemon

Trial Challenge was pretty uh... short, simple, and kinda lame.

Even though the visuals in general are really good, the textures look like they're straight out of a PS1 game. I'm hoping maybe that's just because of compression to make the demo smaller? I don't know.

Pressing A to open doors is a bit of a strange choice to me since you've been able to walk into all doors in the other games.

And overall there's really just not much to do.

Still excited for the game, but ultimately this demo was just kinda bad in really most ways, especially with how much information has been mined from it. There's still an entire month to go before it comes out... Honestly the demo probably shouldn't have even been made.

Re: Ice Station Z Is Bringing Open World Zombie Horror To The 3DS This November

Gorlokk

Neat concept, don't really see anything like it on 3DS. I think there should have been a push to go for an art style that suits the game a bit more though, if that makes sense. This 'realistic' approach just looks bad. I know that zombie games don't really stray from realism in graphics but this really does look like a PS1 game in alpha.

Re: Editorial: Reminiscing on Hoarding StreetPass Hits, and Why Any NX 'Portable' Should Keep Them Alive

Gorlokk

Streetpass is really cool. I brought my 3DS to school with me every day during high school, but now that I'm in college, I only bring it on the two days I have an hour of free time between classes. I still get a decent amount of hits, but not like I used to.

It's pretty interesting, because even though I never viewed Streetpass as anything too special, I've played through Find Mii and Find Mii 2 many times each, played through Monster Manor, and Mii Force, and have tried out a couple of other games... I mean, I've spent quite a bit of time on it, and have gotten a lot of hits (relative to everyone else I streetpass) and have a lot of puzzle pieces. Sometimes I listen to the default plaza theme and it brings me back to late 2011/early 2012, back when 3DS had extremely slim pickings. Still, it's nostalgic nevertheless.

I always wished that there was a way to connect the 3DS to the Wii U so that when you StreetPass people, maybe your Mii could say what you've been playing on Wii U in addition to what you've been playing on your 3DS too, just for fun.

Re: Koji Igarashi on the Wii U Port of Bloodstained

Gorlokk

Ultra hyped for this game, so much that I'll probably by it first on PC just because that's an easier way to play it. But of course, being a diehard Castlevania fan, I want to play it on console at some point. I think an NX port is a much better alternative.

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 1st September

Gorlokk

I wanted to comment earlier, but classes and what not. I woke up to watch the direct early like normal, and had fairly low expectations, or so I thought. But honestly this was a really bad direct, for me personally. For one, no mention of Etrian Odyssey V, which is a huge bummer. Second, games that I was interested in such as Ever Oasis and SMT IV Apocalypse really didn't see any new information, but rather reminders that they exist.

The New Leaf update is actually pretty awesome, but at the same time, it feels like an excuse to not make a new one for longer. Hopefully I'm wrong, but that's what it feels like to me.

I'm honestly kinda pissed at all the Wii U ports. Look, I get it, it makes sense, and I'm sure they will be fine ports that work well. However, what bothers me the most is how all the new games, with the exception of eShop fodder and the new Pikmin spin-off, are just Wii U ports! Oh, and Mario Sports. Yeah. The reason why this bothers me is I vaguely recall Reggie or some other Nintendo rep claiming that Nintendo still has surprises in store for 3DS owners, but Wii U ports are hardly surprises, and are certainly not new! Just the thought of Nintendo believing that these ports are great new additions and surprises for Nintendo fans honestly makes me mad, like actually kinda mad.

The last Nintendo developed game I bought for the 3DS was Codename STEAM, and only because it was $10 at GameStop. The last game I bought before that was Super Mystery Dungeon, nearly a year ago. Third parties are offering way better experiences for the 3DS in my opinion. Glad I have a never-ending backlog.
