Absolutely no EarthBound/Mother music... "Why?" As they say. Wait, no Mega Man either?! Well, at least my favorite song from the whole soundtrack is on there- Gear Getaway.
I'm not extremely familiar with the Dragon Quest series, but I know it has some great tunes, like Heavenly Flight and Cross the Fields, Cross the Mountains, and since I loved both Theatrhythm games, I would definitely get this.
Wow, after reading some of these comments, Nintendo fans really do seem selfish sometimes. "I don't care about SMT or anyone that like that series. I hope it gets cancelled so they make a game that I like!"
I hope they don't add a Story Mode to Etrian Odyssey V. Yes, I know you can play without it, but knowing that it's there takes away some of the charm of the game. I know that might sound silly, and that's because it is. But still somewhat true in my opinion.
C-Could it be...? Might we finally get some info on Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem?! I'd also like to see some Xenoblade Chronicles X, Splatoon, Star Fox, and a little bit of Zelda. Of course, a surprise game like F-Zero or Metroid would be great too.
Please, this game is way better than 4. This is like the NES games only better. +It has more colorful environments +You don't need to find stupid whip upgrades, you always have the best whip +Jumping is still clunky, but improved from the NES games +No eight directional whip means that the sub weapons are actually useful, every one. +Music is more "Castlevania" than 4. Yeah, 4 has Simon's theme and remixes of other classic tunes which all sound GREAT, but the original songs (Again, Simon's theme aside) in 4 don't live up to Richter's theme, Portrait of a Ghost Ship, Illusionary Dance (or whatever the final boss music is called, I forgot) etc. And the Vampire Killer and Bloody Tears renditions are better in Drac X too. +Item crash
People just like 4 better because it's easier and lets you whip in eight directions (part of the easy thing). Dracula X takes a lot more skill, which in classic Castlevania is always level memorization. This game is as "cheap" as 4 and any other classicvania.
The complaining about Level 2 makes no sense. You have to play a level to know what's coming ahead? In a game from the 90s?! HUH?! The level GIVES YOU A CROSS to use RIGHT before that part. Throw one, walk forward, the cross kills the enemies coming up, throw another and rinse and repeat. I've done that part with no sub weapon, you just need to understand when the enemies come up.
"It's also worth noting that the amazing branching level design of the PC Engine original has been removed entirely in favour of a linear progression" This is false. I just can't believe how incorrect this is. Yeah, there isn't as many branching paths as Rondo, but there ARE alternate routes and branching paths.
I'm curious why this just now got an article; I've been following this project since 2010. Nintendo's not shutting it down by the way. They could have done so for over four years. What makes people think they will now?
Also, to the people worried about the quality of this game - I understand why some might feel that way, but like it was stated above, this game has been in development for over 5 years and has changed quite a lot. The only thing people complain about is the name anyway though. You can also find some of the music they've released on YouTube which, in my opinion, has an incredible Mother vibe to it-- which is a good thing!
I consider myself a pretty big fan of Mother games, and I still to this day am confused why so many other Mother fans hate this game so much. Nintendo (Or Itoi) is not making a Mother 4. The best thing we can hope for from Nintendo as far as Mother goes is a VC release of Mother 3, and considering Lucas isn't even in the latest Smash Bros., that seems pretty unlikely.
It actually looks kind of cool. One one hand, I can see why it might go against Nintendo's "Code of Honour" because some of those moves did look pretty crazy (But fun!). But then it made me think, what about Smash Bros.?
I just pre ordered this game a few days ago. The demo sold me actually, informing me that there are 200+ songs, plus the new control method is awesome and makes it way easier to just pick up and play.
I've never been a big fan of Final Fantasy. The only one I've beaten is VII, but I don't think ANYONE can deny how incredible the music of the series is. I loved the first game and I'm pumped to play the sequel now!
This game looks awesome. Just looking at the 3D screenshots on the eShop makes me wish I was playing it, but like everyone else said, $30 is just so much. I would, however, pay that much for a physical release, but not a download only.
I'll never understand the hate for this game. As a Cave Story fan, seeing the game get a full retail release with 3D Graphics is really cool to me. I don't think the graphics are bad at all, and it adds really nice backgrounds to a lot of the levels. Anyone that has played Cave Story knows that the backgrounds are usually just one small pictured tiled out throughout the whole area.
This version fixes that problem. The only problem I have with this game is that Wind Fortress and Curly Mode are missing for some reason.
I completely forgot about this. Great news! It only took, what, 2 years for the news? But alas, it's not coming out until 2015, so 3 years.
I don't get it to be honest. Niche Japanese games get localized fairly often, like Drakengard and Solatorobo to name a couple, but Vocaloid is actually somewhat popular in North America, so I'm surprised it took them this long to bring it to the 3DS outside of Japan.
I didn't really like Untold that much, but EOIV introduced me to the series and I love it immensely. I desperately hope this is not another "Untold" game. I'd like to see EOV, but I guess I would be okay with @Kroisos's idea of it being a remake of the second.
And yes, an Etrian Odyssey game on the Wii U just makes too much sense. It makes so much sense that we'll probably never see it.
I just wish there were multiple demo units. Last year, they had Wind Waker HD, Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, and Tropical Freeze demos, and I thought the lines back then were huge, but wow, the line for one game of smash was 10x bigger than the other line.
Anyway, I went on Wednesday, but got there too late and didn't want to wait in the line, so my brother and I just watched some matches.
On Saturday, me and a group of friends got there at 7:30am and waited quite a long time, but it was worth it.
The group that went before us went all Mega Man, and one of them got the final smash, but he died, so my friends and I decided to all go Mega Man and let whoever got the final smash use it on the other 3-- for the fans (it would have been the first Mega Man final smash that day)!
And I got it! I used it and the crowd went wild! It was like the invitational, only not quite as hype. I still only got second place though. Lol.
Ohh, I'm actually really glad it's gonna be a full retail release, because that means there's tons of modes and content to experience, which means more details on the way in later Nintendo Directs!
I know this year's E3 will be better for Nintendo than last year, and I'm totally excited to see games new and previously announced, but I just don't want to have the same level of hype that I did last year after a somewhat disappointing E3. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad at all, but I just don't want to let myself get too hyped and have really high expectations.

Re: Atlus Confirms Etrian Odyssey X Mystery Dungeon and Reveals Etrian Odyssey V Teaser
YES! Etrain Odyssey V! Now I'm not going to waste money on the remake of EO2. That mystery dungeon game looks pretty cool too.

Mega Man 6 is one of my favorites, actually.
