Of course they have the Switch on their shelves. They work in the games industry. Not to mention several several games by Xbox are on the Switch, such as Minecraft.

There’s zero reason at all but we live in the era of “wouldn’t it be cool if ____=confirmed going to happen”, sites like this and Youtube create this echo chamber where rumors with nothing to back em up and mountains of FUD are turned into absolute facts. Companies with long histories of FUD know how to work this so they get people freaking out over selves like it’s some kind of ARG. If MS thinks they can get disgruntled Switch owners into buying their hardware for game pass after being worked up over these rumors that keep going nowhere then they would absolutely do it

@Don That might take a bit of work if they were to include everything, since games like Viva Pinata relied on Xbox 360 emulation, as I recall.

But yeah, Rare Replay, complete with all of the games, would immediately be a hype release for me. I just can't justify buying an entire console for one collection of old games.

Meh, the guy said he was in love with Nintendo several times, so I don't see why a popular console on a shelf has so many articles.

It's wired that Nintendo is SUPER hyping and even giving a demo for a game that honestly didn't really rate well and had pretty low sales. Not only that but it's not just a lazy re-release, it's a remaster with just all these HUGE additions to the Mii making tools that must have cost them a load of money to developed. What a stupid move, spending all that money on a tool system for Miis when when there is no longer a Mii-verse AND attaching that system to a game that was built from the ground up around the idea of the Mii-verse! I can't see any possible way they are going to recover that investment just based off sales of Miitopia.

Oh oppps. Sorry guys, I somehow messed up and made this comment on this page, which is actually about what relationship Microsoft, that company that is really good at all this network stuff and aggressively sells cloud based solutions to high end clients and has repeatably said in earning calls that the focus of the business moving forward will be attaching Microsoft networks to more and more high visibility projects might have with Nintendo.

Well it would be a lot of effort to erase it, so I'm just going to post it anyways.

It's unlikely it's just a game. MS Studios already released a switch EXCLUSIVE version of Ori and the Blind forest, with features you can't get on Xbox, with no fanfare. I think MS studios making any game that isn't so hardcore it requires a PC or Xbox to do it justice a cross release on switch is pretty much a given.

The only game related news I could see this being is MS Studios making a game with a Nintendo IP. I really can't see Nintendo using a MS owned IP, but I guess it could also be that.

To me, the least exciting "bombshell" this could be is assigning a MS studio (likely Ninja Theory) to finish Metroid or Bayonetta.

Well, Microsoft is not shy about buying big name companies out like Bethesda, and I think their interest in Nintendo is no secret. That being said, maybe they just want to keep that positive relationship going because in the event Nintendo wants to sell in the future, old buddy Microsoft wants the first crack. Just planting some seeds in my opinion.

From a business perspective, it really makes sense for Microsoft & Nintendo to do something like Game Pass on the Switch, that would have to mean Xcloud will also have to be available on the Switch, under certain Nintendo authorised parameters.

Nintendo would benefit greatly from something like that, it would bring a huge amount of people to their NSO service.

Microsoft would get a huge presence in Japan and both parties would rake in cash.

But this is Nintendo we're talking about here, they don’t always make sound decisions.

To be honest I think people are looking way too much into this. I mean most games you can get on Xbox you can get on Playstation (and vice versa), if Sony actually had a substantial amount of exclusives I'm sure we would see a Playstation on that shelf too.
I'm sure everybody on planet Earth has a combination of either a Playstation and Switch or an Xbox and Switch because of Nintendo only exclusives.

No, Nintendo is not going to allow the streaming service of a competitor on their platform that has ridiculously high software sales.

The mere fact that this has become "news" shows how low the IQ can go.

Xbox Cloud+Game Pass on Switch would make the Nintendo Switch even more popular and boost sales even further.
Since it will suddenly bring more people to the Nintendo platform, who would otherwise not buy a Switch and so potentially expose them to Nintendo's own library of games.

Both X Cloud and Nvidia Now can run on Switch. Might not be this year, perhaps when the libraries fill out more. Also there are a couple of games MS produce that make sense on Switch. They already let Blair Witch and Super Lucky's tale release. Battle toads, Rare Replay and Killer Instinct. Also Perfect Dark is getting a new installment so they could do a side project for Switch, remaster Zero or the Original etc.

I'm trying to think of which current Xbox exclusive indie it could be this time...

Worth noting Spencer is a gamer himself and is a fan of the Switch so it could just be where he stores his own personal Switch. Yeah Gamepass on Switch would be cool or Rare Replay but until it happens i'm not living in hope.

Reasons why is is interesting for Nintendo:
1. By demanding a royalties you can earn money from a service you are not spending any money on.
2. It would help to increase the game library from Nintendo, promoting more graphically demanding games for on the go. Nintendo and Xbox exclusives don't compete for the same target group, they complement each other.
3. More games, more interest, more hardware sales, more Nintendo 1th party sales loop.
4. Nintendo is already dipping their toes with cloud gaming. Xbox cloud gaming is a proven platform where they could profit from their infrastructure.

Reasons why it is interesting for Microsoft:
1. It could Microsoft to expand into Japan, a region where they never gained ground.
2. It could help them expand the playerbase for Gamepass. Microsoft is not interested in handhelds, so expanding gamepass to the Switch wouldn't interfer with their own interests. Gamepass business model is only profitable by increasing subscribers.
3. It would help both companies to have a stronger ground against Sony which is doing pretty darn well with Playstation.

With the rollout of Gamepass and Cloud Gaming to iOs this week (Android last november) its not completely unthinkable.

It’s probably nothing. Microsoft is friendly with Nintendo as they release some of their exclusives on the Switch and allowed the Smash devs to use Banjo and Steve. I think it’s just friendly decoration.

Obviously just joking, this is 100% confirmation of Banjo-Kazootheee and a Perfect Dark remake coming exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.

Microsoft and Nintendo's relationship seems to be mostly benefiting Nintendo. Cuphead, Ori, Minecraft, crossplay with Xbox players, and Banjo in Smash have been huge wins for Nintendo. But, this could be Microsoft's long game approach of merging the Nintendo and Microsoft ecosystems. That way games become more like movies where it is less about what proprietary box you play on and more about the software which has always been Microsoft's bread and butter. And that would benefit Nintendo too as mobile hardware gets closer and closer to PC hardware Nintendo can keep selling Switches and worry less about 3rd party support.

Maybe, just maybe, they have the Switch on the shelf because they have a few games on the Switch. Maybe, just maybe, they don't have any plans beyond that.

I am so glad there is a guy like Phil Spencer running the gaming division of Microsoft's Xbox. He really seems to understand what gamers want and need most of the time, and has been typically been pretty transparent with his consumers. The Xbox Series X will be the next console I get most likely.

What if Nintendo and Xbox are going to collaborate on the switch pro, or something like that. This is the 3rd video with the switch in it. They have to do SOMETHING together.

Yeah yeah, Prime 4 will have Master Chief in it, Smash will get Conker, Game Pass on Switch, Rare Replay, and Conker Live and Reloaded Uncensored will all come to Switch, they're just waiting to reveal it at E3. We know.
