Re: Best Super Smash Bros. Games Of All Time

Gaymer90

@-wc-
Omg, I was just thinking the exact same thing, Melee is the only huge leap the series ever had!
I never knew people actually liked Brawl, the physics made the game so slow and boring for me. The only smash game I didn't like.

I like Melee a lot, but they brought back the amazing feel it had on Ultimate. Even though I played Melee much more, I'd rank:
1. Ultimate
2. Melee
3. 64 (and I know it's kinda biased by nostalgia but it was so innovative and groundbreaking, I can't get over how good of an idea it was to begin with)

Re: Pokémon Fans Set Their Sights On Palworld's Monster Designs

Gaymer90

I'm instantly more connected to the monsters in this game than I have been with the Pokémon franchise in the last decade, maybe.
Nintendo had plenty of chances of shaking it up and didn't, there is no crying now. I guess it's time for us to move on from Pokémon, unfortunately, nostalgia isn't cutting it anymore

Re: Talking Point: What Game Do You Wish You Could Forget?

Gaymer90

BotW, Celeste and Metroid Prime for sure.
When you reach the top of the mountain on Celeste, and the soundtrack that builds up to the moment is just magic.
Hope to get some of that when I replay Metroid Prime on Switch since it's been so many years, didn't get a chance to do that yet

Re: Rumour: Microsoft Will Bring Critically Acclaimed Exclusive To "Competitor System" This Year

Gaymer90

@HeadPirate MS itself stated that game sales decrease when included on Gamepass. Some devs also said that. That's some actual info about people that owns the business and have the numbers.
You're bringing up people in forums that would double dip a game for a physical edition as some kind of salvation for total sales numbers? There is absolutely no statistic about that, and on my point of view, hardcore gamers that double dip are minority market wise (maybe majority in forums about games).
You're accusing the other guy of being a fan boy, but you kinda sound like one now cause this is all a little unreasonable

Re: Soapbox: "Go Outside, Get Some Fresh Air" - Why Won't Outmoded Gamer Stereotypes Die?

Gaymer90

In my personal experience, this is a very rare kind of perception from non gamers, in the last maybe, 15 years (I'm 33), no one has ever judged me a bit for being a hardcore gamer.
But I do agree a lot of people use it as a escape mechanism from the real world (and also streamings, sugar, etc), so I guess the stereotype comes from there. It shouldn't exist but there is a rational behind it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are The Worst Parts Of Your Favourite Games?

Gaymer90

About the games:
BotW - It might be an unpopular opinion, but Calamity Ganon's castle was kinda of meh? I spent I dont know, 200h postponing the endgame dungeon, exploring everything having the time of my life and when I finally had the guts to face it, I just climbed for like, 10 min and was done with it, no puzzles or anything. I liked the shrines and the beasts much better in a sense that they were actually a dungeon.

Fire emblem series/FFT/Triangle Strategy - I'm a sucker for SRPGs. You get your first hero, recruit characters until your team is complete, and after that, every character you recruit comes so underleveled that I don't wanna go through the hustle of grinding just to level up a new char, so I usually stick with my initial team until the end game. There should be a way by now of making recruits that come later on more relevant in an easier way, it's a little frustrating cause sometimes you have some boring initial characters you have to drag to the endgame just cause they are so strong

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Is Officially The "Fastest-Selling" Super Mario Title Ever

Gaymer90

@DdG1408 there are many variants to be taken into account here: at the beginning of the console's life, there is only a few AAA games to choose from compared 6 years later, not everyone who's bought a switch in the last 6 years remain an active user (the install base of 130 M is superestimated, there are drop outs and doubles), and the competition nowadays is fierce with next generation.
The data % of owners who owns a particular game is a biiiiiiiiig shot in the dark and tell us nothing, really.

Re: Tears Of The Kingdom Continues To Prove That 'Open World Zelda' Is A Best-Selling Formula

Gaymer90

@Yoshif3 that's definitely not the case, otherwise every Zelda should have sold proportionally to their respective generations.
Or at least increasingly somehow, considering all the other factors you mentioned.
We've got to admit most people want open world Zelda now, the hardcore longtime comment section gamers are a vocal minority but not the ones that define the future of gaming.

Re: Nintendo Will Discuss Upcoming Switch Games "At The Appropriate Time"

Gaymer90

I don't get why people get so anxious, waiting for a big direct that isn't really necessary anymore.
The "2-3 month before release announcement" has been working for them, with very focused marketing on the next titles, and for us that have solid release dates (once they are uncovered).
I actually think it's a very smart and solid strategy now that I'm used to it lol

Re: Hideki Kamiya Was "A Shoulder To Lean On" During Astral Chain's Development, Says Director

Gaymer90

wanted to love this game as much as I love Bayonetta, but for some reason, I have to force myself to keep playing and get it over with ever time I turn on my Switch, so I can move to the next game on my backlog.

Fun setting, engaging story, but there is a pacing problem and it eventually gets very repetitive.

Also the combat is fun, but unless you play all the stages a hundred times you won't get a perfect score. Bayonetta feels fair in a sense this game doesn't.

Re: Nintendo Switch Took 87% Of Japan's Console Market in 2020

Gaymer90

@Dr_Lugae
Where did you get that info about FF VII rmk?
On the first 3 days alone, it sold 3,5 M worldwide, 700k in Japan alone.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VII_Remake

"Final Fantasy VII Remake sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide within three days.[126] This made it one of the biggest launches for a PlayStation 4 game and the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive, surpassing the launch sales of Marvel's Spider-Man (3.3 million; 2018) and God of War (3.1 million; 2018).[127][128] As of August 2020, Final Fantasy VII Remake has sold over 5 million units worldwide.[129]

In Japan, Final Fantasy VII Remake was the best-selling retail game during its first week of release, selling 702,853 physical copies in its first weekend,[130] with the game sold out in many stores.[131] Including digital copies, it exceeded 1 million sales in Japan within three days of release.[132]"

As much as I'd like it to flop on PS4 so they'd be forced to port it to Switch, I'm not sure that was the case

Re: Soapbox: When Is The Next 'Big' Nintendo Direct? Oh, Does It Really Matter Anymore?

Gaymer90

@Varkster my thoughts exactly. It's just speculation, but completely non sense lol

I also don't get why people miss the boring long directs. It's working fine as it is, and I think they'll keep the cadence of 2 to 4 big releases every year.

The indies still get together for one presentation dedicated to people who likes indies, these games don't need to be put next to big releases to make an impact.
I believe the exact opposite of what some stated, next to the AAA titles, they lose part of their appeal.

Re: Take A Look At This Neat Visualisation Of Nintendo's Console Sales

Gaymer90

The Switch is such a beast. I feel like it won't be long before it surpasses the total Wii sales.

The GameCube was OK, had many nice games and Melee (which is prob the game i played the most in my life). But when you compare to what Sony and the PS2 had at the same time... You clearly understand the huge gap in sales was due to a far more engaging library Sony developed at that time

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Games Of 2020

Gaymer90

Well, as much as I loved the writing and style in The Origami King (best Paper Mario ever on those aspects), the battles sure made the game a drag to play most of the time.
I would personally rank it around 30th - 40th, but understand why it didn't make top 50 here

Re: Director Of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remaster Will "Try To Put Things Right"

Gaymer90

Can't one person buy the game, and the others download on their phones, and play together? Or every one with their own switches, in the same room?
At first I was bothered by the lack of local multi-player, but now I'm more bothered by everyone who pretend like it's impossible to create a local co-op setting.
When you check the articles about switch sales, everyone claims to have 5 switches in the commenta yet can't stop complaining about the local co-op here.
The internet negativity has taken over with this game big time.
Don't even know why, cause the original sucks.

Re: Sword And Shield Are Now The Best-Selling Pokémon Games Since Gold And Silver

Gaymer90

Glad it's been selling so well, I had a great time with it.
Honestly, I don't see why people complain so much, the overall quality of the Pokémon games was never that great.
I found myself playing the last main line titles due to my childhood nostalgia. For me, this was easily the best mainline title in the last 15 years.
It help it came right after Sun & Moon, oh, that was just tragic.

Re: Still Not Convinced On Paper Mario: The Origami King? This Accolades Trailer Might Do The Trick

Gaymer90

I'm in the 4th area, and love the art style and writing so far. It doesn't bother me there are Toads everywhere, they're mostly funny one-liners that put a smile on your face.

The battles though, I've tried my best to like it, but I can't. They're very easy for the most part, yet pointless and time consuming. I feel like putting the game down and playing something else every time I get into one.

Anyways, curious to see how the story will end.

Re: Star Wars Episode I: Racer Is No Longer Speeding Onto The Nintendo Switch Today

Gaymer90

@TheFullAndy
Well, I guess it's not like that everywhere: my working hours (and wage) is reduced by 25% (yup, allowed in my country), and apart from the first 2 weeks that were a mess, not even the children, neighbour's noise, Switch's temptation are getting on the way of doing whatever we gotta do currently.

We did a survey and most employees agreed they are more productive working from home, and would like more days like that when the pandemic is over.
