Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend?

Gamecubed

My goal this weekend is to finish LA Noire on Switch.
For some reason, I have found the game more enjoyable than when I first played it years ago on PS3. I don't know if it's because I've grown up or my taste has changed, but I respect the game more now than I did before.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Is Already Thinking About Bayonetta 4

Gamecubed

If they keep making them, I'll keep buying them. All he's saying is that they have ideas. There were similar comments made about making a third installment.
Nintendo really has their finger in the cake now, so it wouldn't surprise me if they continued to ask for more (maybe one game per gen). It's safe to say that Bayonetta has become an unofficial Nintendo franchise. It'd be interesting to see if they ever try to outright buy the IP from Sega.

Re: EVO 2018 Will Feature Two Super Smash Bros. Games

Gamecubed

Melee still has a very strong following, and people still deem it to be "the best" (though after playing hours of Smash 4, I'd beg to differ). So yeah, I think it'll be included in competitive play for years to come. If they didn't include it, people would go crazy.

Don't watch stuff like this anymore though. More power to the folks that do.

Re: Kimishima Talks Nintendo’s 3DS Strategy Going Forward

Gamecubed

I know I wanted them to kill it off because it could hurt Switch sales, but how can you kill something that is still selling so well? They had a great holiday season with it.
People like it because it's super affordable and it has a large, quality library.

I think the 3DS and Switch can co-exist for at least a couple more years. It'll be interesting to see how they approach new software for it going forward.

Re: Rollercoaster Tycoon Could Be Coming To The Switch

Gamecubed

I think I'd rather shave my legs with a rusty potato peeler. The new one isn't any good. I these were VC ports of the old games, I'd pay attention.
Now, Planet Coaster... that's a good game worth porting. It's kind of like what Cities Skylines is to SimCity.

Re: Nintendo's French Boss Says We Should Expect More Switch Announcements From EA

Gamecubed

I think the only EA game I would buy now is a Mass Effect Trilogy remaster with all DLC on disc/cart. They apparently have zero interest in doing that for any system though.

I don't watch hockey, I don't enjoy it all, but I find the NHL games fun. So maybe NHL. Fifa and NHL are both guilty pleasures of mine, but I'd never buy them for full price or anything.

Re: Hyperkin is Planning to Bring Back The Game Boy

Gamecubed

Why wouldn't they include GBC support? I'd consider it if they had that.

I have a 101 model SP that still works like a charm (probably one of my favourite systems), but I have considered buying one of those modded GBA models on ebay because I hate how the GB/GBC carts stick out of the bottom of the SP like a growth.

Re: Feature: Here's What Was Announced During The January 2018 Nintendo Direct Mini

Gamecubed

People were expecting waaaaaaay too much, that's all I can say. I'll pick up the World Ends With You and Dark Souls though and maybe Hyrule Warriors (again).

People looking down on all the Wii U ports. Really? That little machine has an amazing library and it sold so poorly, few people got to experience it. This is the way to do it. They'll sell millions of copies of those ports.

Re: Bayonetta 2 On Switch Will Come With These Changes

Gamecubed

For $80CAD, I can't bring myself to double dip. My Wii U copy is still plenty functional. I'll get it on Switch once there's a nice little sale going on somewhere, I'm certain.
But anyone that hasn't played Bayonetta 2, go out and buy this. It is one of the greatest and most polished games I have ever played. Possibly my favourite game on Wii U.

Re: Reddit Wonders If Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Is Coming To Switch

Gamecubed

This is more than likely just for the Nintendo Selects line in North America. As far as I know, A Link Between Worlds is out of print here. Nintendo will probably roll out more Selects titles this year with a new printing of ALBW.

I'm still banking on Skyward Sword coming to the Switch and then some kind of Zelda HD pack with Wind Waker and Twilight Princess in one box.

Re: Miyamoto Gives a Surprising Insight Into What He Looks For In New Game Designers

Gamecubed

I think the benefit of looking for folks who aren't just fans of video games and have a wide range of interests and experiences is that you'll have more diverse thinking. Perhaps those people with different interests will integrate their hobbies and knowledge into a game somehow.
They simply won't come to work and say "hey, I played this game this one time that had this mechanic, so I want to put it into our game because it's cool!"

Re: Pokémon GO Dev Niantic Working On Harry Potter Mobile Game, New Console Titles Planned

Gamecubed

It makes me happy that they're doing something with the license and they've dedicated a division to the development of games in the HP universe.

I always thought it'd be interesting to set an RPG during Voldemort's rise to power and the First Wizarding War. It starts out where you create your character and get sorted into a house. You do classes, and eventually choose a specialization, make friends/enemies (you make two best friends and they become your party members), but the war is going on and as the years progress if your actions are more "light side" or "dark side" you can be scouted to join The Order or the Death Eaters in year six or something. All that player choice stuff, good characters, good story (maybe get JK Rowling involved), good gameplay, good graphics etc.
People that don't even play video games would buy that and play it.

Re: The Inevitable SNES Classic Mini Hack Is Well Underway

Gamecubed

I would do this, but I think I would only really want to add Chrono Trigger, Zombies Ate My Neighbors and maybe Aladdin. Maybe Turtles In Time too. Not enough to bother with it.

I think Nintendo probably did consider adding some kind of internet/eshop connectivity to these little systems, but it would have driven the price up, and they know average consumers would be content with what they gave them out of the box. I'm happy with the selection they've given us, so I can live with a few games being omitted,

I think "virgin" classic systems will be worth more in the long run to collectors.

Re: Poll: A Retro Quest - Were You Able to Buy a Super NES Classic Edition / SNES Mini?

Gamecubed

@ValhallaOutcast I couldn't find the NES Classic ANYWHERE! Really wanted to get it for my dad and I to play together. One of my friends/coworkers found a couple at Shopper's Drug Mart, and didn't realize I wanted one, otherwise she'd have got one for me. But that's as close as I got to owning one lol.
Waiting for the reissue. Hence why I was really on edge about the SNES Classic, and I was watching websites like a hawk yesterday.

I think I'm going to put my Retron 5 away (haven't been using it much, mostly got it to play GB/GBA games on my TV) and put the SNES Classic where it sits right now.

Re: Poll: A Retro Quest - Were You Able to Buy a Super NES Classic Edition / SNES Mini?

Gamecubed

@ValhallaOutcast I'm about 2-2.5 hours north. Towards Owen Sound. I took my prime trial yesterday morning before orders went live. I had a feeling it would be "prime exclusive", just like the Switch.

They almost ALWAYS ship through Canada Post to me. I find larger orders that are heavier or come in a bigger box will ship UPS or Purolator, but not always. The order I had processing yesterday was just books and a dvd.

Just checked my orders page, it's all "preparing for shipment" now. SO EXCITED!

Re: Poll: A Retro Quest - Were You Able to Buy a Super NES Classic Edition / SNES Mini?

Gamecubed

@ValhallaOutcast That's great to hear!
I live about two hours away from the Ontario warehouse, so stuff usually gets here pretty fast. It's usually here the next day after it ships. I had another order being processed that same time I order the SNES Classic, and suddenly it's status changed to "not yet shipped", so I'm assuming those two orders will be combined.

I was originally going to go to my local Walmart and try to get one in person in-store (I think I could have), but I had surgery done on my back on Tuesday, so I'm pretty much stuck in the house. I was really worried about online orders because I know how difficult it can be to beat the bots. I got an order through with Walmart but about an hour later they sent me a possible cancellation email. Thank god for Amazon, they had orders up for over an hour, I think.

Re: Soapbox: The SNES Classic Edition Pre-Order Farce Proves Nintendo Hasn't Learned A Thing

Gamecubed

No one should be shocked by this. We all knew how it would be.
Really, Nintendo should just release some kind of "Best of Super Nintendo" cart for Switch/3DS instead of doing this crap to their fans. Just cram all these games onto a cart and sell it for $50.

There are so many people who want this for themselves, and their families and children or nieces/nephews, and they can't get them. I just find it kind of sad.
