Re: Play-Asia is Taking Orders on This Multitap Mayflash GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U

Gamecubed

I'm trying to hold on to the hope that Nintendo will make more... but I may be tempted to get this.
I just got Smash a few days ago, and I'm adapting well to the Pro Controller... but I only have one Pro, and my friends dislike the wiimote/nunchuck set up and classic controller. I found the gamepad to be quite clunky for a game like this as well. So when I have them over, this would be handy since I do have four GC controllers sitting in my cupboard.

Re: New Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Editions Already In The Hands Of Lucky Buyers

Gamecubed

I haven't upgraded my 3DS to the 3DS XL yet because I know this thing is coming at some point in time... we just don't know when. I hardly play my 3DS because I can't stand that tiny screen anymore.
New 3DS XL, that's what I'm getting... whenever they decide to give us a release date. But I feel like this indicates that a European release is on the near horizon. And then the rest of us here in North America will sit and twiddle our thumbs for another three months or so.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Confirms Playable Star Fox for E3, a Future for F-Zero and More

Gamecubed

So basically "no F-Zero but we're now open to the idea".
Better than where we were last year, I suppose. The fact that they're doing Star Fox has renewed my hope for F-Zero.

I think with Nintendo really being the only one supporting the Wii U in 2015 and possibly onward, they need to open up their catalog and see what they can do to add variety.
It's pretty much assumed that Metroid will happen on Wii U, it's just a question of when and who will do it (though I'd like to believe Retro is working on "Prime 4" right now and someone else is doing a 3DS game). Star Fox is in development. It's just F-Zero that's still up in the air.

GX is one of my favourite games of all time, and it still looks pretty good. Even if they did F-Zero GX HD with the content from AX included, I'd be happy.

Re: Satoru Iwata Highlights Frustration at Missed Wii U Features and Aims to Improve for Next-Gen Hardware

Gamecubed

I seriously doubt we'll see anything new hardware wise any time soon. Throwing out a new system is not the answer to their problems, and they know that. So I think they'll ride the Wii U out for another three years and hopefully they've learned some hard lessons through all of this.

What do I want to see happen?
Off the top of my head... Good VC support, a larger hard drive, get rid of region locking, have the same amount of horsepower as the other guys so third parties can put their games on the system (but don't play catch up to the previous generation, top it so it can compete), make anything gimmicky completely optional, drop the Wii brand and have a true account system.
Oh and, they should try to advertise/bundle WITH third parties. And they need to give NoA and NoE more freedom.

I feel like most people have similar wishlists.

Re: Eternal Darkness Trademark Renewal Increases Hope of Franchise Return

Gamecubed

I always wondered why Nintendo never got behind Shadow of the Eternals. Maybe that's what this is? If Bayonetta 2 and Devil's Third are any indicator, perhaps Nintendo has picked it up and decided to finish it? One can only dream. It would certainly add some diversity to the Wii U's library... and we all know that because of the lack of third parties, Nintendo has to find a way to fill those gaps.

Or maybe they intend to bring GC games to the VC?

Re: UK Retail Survey Highlights the Challenges Facing Nintendo

Gamecubed

Reading some of the comments about how stores in the UK only have a small section for Nintendo sounds familiar. In my area here in Canada, Nintendo only commands a very small portion in the video game sections of stores like Walmart. Even in something like Gamestop/EB Games, I find the Nintendo stuff is kind of back in the corner while they have Xbox and PS front and centre.
Maybe this is just my area though? I don't know. But the Wii U selection is always very limited wherever I go.... so I just buy all my stuff on Amazon nowadays to avoid wasting my time. I've only seen a handful of ads on TV for Nintendo as well. Xbox and PS4 are advertised like crazy on almost every station.

You can't blame the folks over in the UK, nor can you really blame the retailers for not stocking what doesn't turn a profit. Nintendo dropped the ball with the Wii U. Marketing has generally been poor everywhere, and the name is horrible. They also failed to realize that third party games need to be there in order to fill the gaps between major first party releases. People underestimate the selling power things like sports games. There are people who buy the new Fifa/NHL/Madden/whatever every single year. The average person will probably not buy more than one game system, so if you can't get the new Fifa/NHL/Madden on the Wii U, that's a drawback.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Explains Why Mewtwo Isn't Paid DLC in Smash Bros.

Gamecubed

I think Nintendo is cautious of DLC, and that's okay. They know it's a slippery slope and they can come under a lot of fire very quickly if they screw something up. The DLC offerings they've done thus so far have been quite generous and meaningful compared to what most of us are used to. The MK8 DLC is fantastic.

As far as DLC characters go.... meh. Nintendo games are often packed to the ceiling with content, anything else is just icing on the cake. I don't think I'll get Smash on 3DS, so I probably won't get Mewtwo. I hardly used him in Melee anyway. But if they were to do DLC characters..... they have to have Bayonetta!

Re: Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty Wii U Delay Seems to be Due to 8GB Basic Model

Gamecubed

I'd like to assume that anyone who got the 8GB model (such as myself, since it was on sale) probably purchased some sort of USB external storage device. Of course, there's always a handful who don't realize this. You don't want to exclude people.
Then again, by the time it comes to the Wii U, anyone who would have purchased that version may have already bought it on some other system.

Re: Junichi Masuda Talks Pokémon Snap and Listening to Fans

Gamecubed

The Wii U would be perfect for Pokemon Snap. Make it free-roam instead of on-rails, throw in the new Pokemon, have some nice graphics, add online and miiverse and there you go.
We need this and a sequel/successor to Colosseum/XD.

EDIT: Or we could have a Snap mini-game/mode in a Colosseum/XD successor.
