Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (31st May)

Hey everyone.
This week I finished Ender Magnolia.
What a beautiful game.
Played it on hard and got the good ending. Took me 40 hours to get 100% completion.
Loved every minute of it.

Also started Catmaze.
A cute little Metroidvania from the same developer as Fearmonium which I also enjoyed.

Also started Hello Kitty Island Adventure with the family.
This game has surprised me at how good it actually is, really enjoying it.

Set up my new games room this week.
Finished 2 of my 4 cabinets with my Switch collection, Cube, Wii, Wii U, 360 and PS4 collections.
Still have my N64 games and consoles to go.

It's my 55th birthday on Monday so I have a big week planned thanks to Nintendo releasing the Switch 2 to celebrate my birthday ๐Ÿคช

Have a great weekend everyone, I know I will.

Hey everyone.
The last couple of weeks I finished Mindsieze.
Absolutely loved this game, a great Metroidvania that knows exactly what it is and does so with so much love and polish that shines throughout the whole game. Excellent game.

I also started 9 Years of Shadows/Bugs.
Man, this game is such a disappointment. Not the actual game itself but the amount of bugs that this game is riddled with. This is the worst, most bug infested release from LRG ever.
I've been playing it on and off for the last 3 weeks for a total of around 10 hours and I've had over 30+ bugs!
From softlocks (the most common), to health that just disappears and can't be replenished, game freezes, sound locks, and even bosses that reappeared after I defeated them. I've had to play this game in blocks as I would otherwise flush the cart down the toilet in rage if I didn't. Such a shame.

Anyway, I've also started Ender Magnolia.
What a stark contrast to 9 Years of Pain, such a polished, beautiful game that I absolutely love. Absolutely amazing game so far.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hey everyone.
The last couple of weeks I've finished a couple of games and started a new one.
I finished Silver Axe:The Honest Elf.
A great little Metroidvania with a good little story that I enjoyed a fair bit.

Also finished Rusty Rabbit.
Put in over 40 hours and 100% it.
Great game that I highly recommend, especially if you're after a Metroidvania with a great story. Opened NG+ as well. Heaps of content. Great stuff.

Started 9 Years of Shadows, really enjoying it so far.

Also put more money down on my Switch 2 preorder and also pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077.
Can't wait to hook into my new console.
Bring in my Birthday, well, 3 days after it.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Fair dinkum, dead set, this is gonna be a real ripsnorter. Can't wait to crack this beauty etc etc.

We don't actually talk like that here in Australia but it wouldn't have surprised me if they did.

I don't watch AFL, I watch NRL so those guys mean nothing.

Still, I don't need ads to have mine pre-ordered.

Glad they're getting the word out there to those casuals though.

Physical versions here in Australia are usually cheaper than their digital versions so I always buy physical. I am so glad this game is full on cart. I wish Elden Ring was. I'll wait for that one and hopefully in the future we get an actual physical copy.

Pulled the trigger asap on Cyberpunk though, gotta support their decision to give us the game on cart and the bonus goodies sounds great.

@MrGawain
ZombiU was actually a Wii U Release and then ported to other consoles.
Arkham was and still is best on Wii U with Wii U exclusive features.
Mass Effect is also a lot better on Wii U.

If they release 3rd party games with the same sort of effort then I'll definitely support it like I did on Wii U.
I doubt it though

@TYRANACLES
Yeah your character does move slowly yet his jumps are a bit floaty which doesn't really suit the weight your character has. It is still very good, I found that holding down whilst pressing A which produces a slide is the quickest way around the slow character movement. Spamming it makes you move so much quicker and is a great workaround. It is still an excellent game and like I said, sliding is the quickest way to get anywhere. If I had to give it a rating I would say it is a solid 7, 8 if you like action platformerrs with some great pixel art and excellent orchestral background music.

Hey everyone.
This week I finished Beyond the Ice Palace 2.
A great action platformerr with Metroidvania elements. Some beautiful pixel art and great soundtrack. Really enjoyed it.

Started Silver Axe: The Honest Elf.
A very cute wholesome Metroidvania.
It's very good so far.

I also have Rusty Rabbit, Ender Magnolia, Catmaze, Lost Epic and 9 Years of Shadow on the way so I'll have gaming to do in the next few weeks

Hey everyone.

This week I got up to the last boss in Anyaroth The Queens Tyranny which I'm renaming to Anyaroth The Cramps Tyranny due to the game having no options for the pro controller forcing me to play it using the joycons in the cradle. It is ridiculous and makes the game painful to play.

My copy of Beyond the Ice Palace 2 arrived so I hooked into that and I'm really enjoying it. If you like Castlevania then I recommend this.

I also grabbed Mini Ghost on sale and started that as well. I loved Ghost 1.0 and this is a smaller version of that so I'm sure I'll enjoy it .

My copies of The Messenger, Tevi and Silver Axe also arrived so I'll be getting straight into those as well.

Have a great weekend everyone.

I have a 55" Toshiba 4K tv.
It has HDR, HDR10 and HDR10+.
It also is native 144hz with ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) for gaming. Highly recommended

Too selling brand in Japan for a reason.

Hey everyone.
This week I finished Twilight Monk
This is a brilliant Metroidvania with so much polish that it sits up there with the best of them. It really does tick all the boxes The combat is weighty and feels nice amd chunky
This game also sounds amazing with some great music and sound effects and the graphics are gorgeous. Each area is different and some of the backgrounds both artistically and musically are top notch. There is a top down overworld where you travel between each location that has random battles ala a certain fantasy game.
I highly recommend it.

I also bought Anyaroth: Queen's Tyranny which I look forward to playing.

I have my Switch 2 MarioKart bundle pre-ordered (I'm glad I live in Australia and don't have to jump through hoops to preorder consoles) so I'm playing the waiting game. I hate this game.

Have a great weekend everyone

Re: Review: Gal Guardians: Servants Of The Dark (Switch) - Cracking Combat In This Character-Swapping Metroidvania

If you're after a highly polished awesome Metroidvania I highly recommend Twilight Monk .
This game ticks all the boxes. Beautiful graphics, amazing sound and awesome gameplay. I just finished it and got 98% completion and it took me 16 hours. Looks like a much better game than this imo.
It plays perfectly on Switch, amazing considering the graphics are so beautiful.

Well I pre-ordered the S2 didn't I?

Yes I did.

Can't wait for Burnout Paradise: MarioKart Edition.

DK looks great and I'll grab Cyberpunk to support physical media.

I'm excited, not to part with the crazy amount of money but for the actual games and console. I only had to remortgage my house and sell the kids, but it'll be worth it.

Hey everyone.
The last couple of weeks I finished Cave Story+, enjoyed it.
My copy of Elliot Quest arrived so I've been playing that, excellent combination of Zelda 2 and Metroid. So much Nintendo love too, a cat named Link, a hidden Chozo statue, and heaps of other nods to Nintendo's games like Mario etc. Great Metroidvania, highly recommended.

Also finished Fearmonium. This is an excellent Metroidvania with some great Cuphead inspired graphics. It has some very unique takes on the usual MV movesets too and some great sections that break up the action. Recommended to MV lovers like myself.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Hey everyone. I finally got power back on Tuesday after the cyclone. Had a few trees come down, front gate that weighs 500kg+ was blown over and my shed gable came off but other than that we survived. We got 434mm of rain in 3 days as well. Still cleaning up slowly but surely.

In the meantime I kept on playing Cave Story+, got a bit further.
Also played a bit more of Skelethrone on NG+.

Bought a few more games this week, pre-ordered Nocturnal Collectors Edition and Elypse Collectors Edition off Pix n Love.
Bought Elliot Quest physical copy this week as well which I look forward to playing.

Have a great weekend everyone
