Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Another Code: Recollection

Frailbay30

@Princess_Lilly What a strange comparison. Saying something has aged poorly doesn't equal being compared to modern AAA games. That's assumption on your part. It's quite possible, that a game's old mechanics haven't stood the test of time. There are plenty of those. "Another Code" is no exception.

Also, something being unique and quirky doesn't equal good. Like congrats from standing out from the crowd, but that doesn't mean what you achieved is something remarkable.

Re: Nintendo Hacker Gary Bowser Says He's "Not Involved" With New Switch Flash Cart

Frailbay30

@Thief No the punishment doesn't fit the crime. It's extreme and over the top. It really is disturbing how people here are cheering for the corporation.

No offense, but some of ya'll's pro Nintendo attitude is disturbing.

What he did was wrong, however the punishment shouldn't be a life time of debt that's impossible to pay off. This isn't proper justice. It's extreme punishment.

To live in a society where people's idea of justice is a death sentence nomatter the crime, is scary. Sometimes the pro Nintendo nomatter what people scare me.

Re: Feature: The Best Smash Bros. Ultimate Character Trailers, Ranked By You

Frailbay30

@Vyacheslav333 Wow, the fighting scene is huge and just because of some users on NL don't care for them, it bothers you?

Besides, you have such high respect for the genre, yet you always advocate for removing the core component of why they exist in the first place. Multiplayer.

You want a future where fighting games, the thing that builds communities thanks to it's multiplayer, to become single player experiences only.

Re: Geoff Keighley Reveals "Hype Trailer" For The Game Awards 2023

Frailbay30

@Hints_Whispers Good question. I wish many smaller games actually did have a shot at GOTY. But for me, I'd say if the only two best contenders are BG3 and ToTK, then no GOTY of the award should be given out.

I have played quite a few indie games this year that I think is better than ToTk. What ruined ToTk for me is that it feels like an overpriced expansion.

Re: Soapbox: Ganondorf's Villainous Intro In Ocarina Of Time Is One Of Gaming's Best

Frailbay30

@Oracles_fanboi Exactly. This is why I was critical in their best song from OoT poll for being predictable. Nintendolife staff seem only choose what's popular and it's same thing over and over again.

It would be refreshing if we had some contrarian views, or unpopular takes to make things feel fresh. Everytime there is a poll here, I can predict with nearly 100% accuracy how the list goes. That's just not fun.

Back on this topic, Nintendo has over 30 years worth of things to talk about, but Nintendolife only seems to constantly pick from a handful.

Re: Feature: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time - Every Ocarina Song, Ranked From 'Worst' To Best

Frailbay30

Haha, my comment was removed all because I pointed out how predictable these rankings are? No insults, no calling out anyone on the staff, just an unsurprising list.

Guess Nintendolife staff got offended. I wonder if this comment will be removed too. All Im saying is, it would be more surprising if these list didn't just repeat the same popular opinions shared a million times.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Wins Nintendo GOTY At Golden Joystick Awards 2023

Frailbay30

@FawfulsFury Ever not liked something and voiced your criticism of it?

Well, I wanna ask this; Is it quite possible to do the same for TotK or has the game itself transcended any form of criticism whatsoever?

Not you specifically, but alot of people are pretending anyone who even remotely says anything negative about this game has a chip on their shoulder.

Re: Sega's Executive Director Wants Sonic Games And Movies To "Surpass Mario"

Frailbay30

Get rid of modern Sonic. Sonic was cool in 90's before he started saying cringe one liners.

Gert rid of the dramatic storytelling. Classic Sonic's world is simple, fun, vibrant, and full of fun. Frontiers is depressing to play. It's plot is depressing, it's world looks depressing.

Why does Mario work? Because he's not bogged down by weird ideas, and is focused on making fun gameplay. Im not saying you can't have a plot so Sonic stands out. What I saying is make that plot lighthearted and fun.

Stop introducing half thought out gimmicks, then quickly abandoning them for the next one.

Classic Sonic works because at the end of the day it's simple. Modern sonic fails because he's thrown into whatever, given a terrible plot, cringe dialogue, and the cycle repeats.

Re: Random: Place Your Bets On How Long This Super Mario-Sampling Rap Track Stays Live

Frailbay30

@Bobb True, age doesn't do anything to do it But some respect for a genre you don't understand can be mutual.

For example, I don't like pop, heavy metal, or folk music or even rock. I have friends who do. And I can respect that. Alot of genres have intricacies that I may not get, but I respect they are more than just noise.

The person above was perhaps trolling, but the person of above that was being cheeky in way to say it's terrible, then goes out the way to be cheeky again with Country music.

I probably wasted time responded to that user, but it is what it is.

Re: Nintendo Accounts To "Help Ease" Next-Gen Transition, According To Doug Bowser

Frailbay30

Hmm...maybe it's just me, but Nitnedo these days feels sterile. Things seemed more lively in the Iwata era, than now.

Maybe it's just now E3 is a ghost town, and everything is livestreamed.

Kinda reminds me of Wall-E. A dystopian future where humans no longer need to leave the comfort of their homes, because everything is just a click away.

What with futurists, facebook, and twitter, all vying for a meta universe, where you can have the world by simply being strapped into a device.

I remember watching a short, where a man's entire family, friends were all the result of a computer. His entire world was inside a pod.

Re: Takashi Iizuka Explains Timeline Placement Of Sonic Superstars

Frailbay30

@Maulbert It's 2023. Sonic and Mario stopped competing 20 years ago.

Both characters have their respective fan bases and aren't worried about competing for an imaginary throne. It's only a very small group of people who's keeping a dead rivalry going.

If you think Mario games are better (Yes, I know there's a high possibility you are going to cite critics as proof, if you so choose to respond) Is fine.

If you dislike the the character and games. Good on you.

Re: Nintendo Website Shares First Look At Hogwarts Legacy On Switch

Frailbay30

@TotalHenshin Too be honest, I don't know why Not_Soos started with a comment about the game then went off into religion.

I mean yeah, they are free to do so, but this isn't correct forum to do so. All that does is lead to arguments and steering the topic away. The old saying is "There's a time and place." This is not the place for such heavy topics or debates.

Not_Soos, could have totally left out the last half of his comment. Even now, people like you and I, are jumping into an argument that has nothing to do with the topic.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Leaked Online Ahead Of Next Week's Release

Frailbay30

@sanderev Yep. I agree. When I was a kid, I worked for a supermarket called Kroger. It's the USA's largest supermarket operator.

Once I went behind closed doors, it was truly something to see just how many stores the chain owned under different names.

I agree with you. On the outside things doesn't seem all that big. Once you are neck deep, the magnitude is something else.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sonic Superstars

Frailbay30

@epicgamner No, but as an old Sonic fan, the base is way too forgiving and lenient. I stopped being a fan, because I shouldn't have to keep saying for 15 years, "Well, atleast they tried right?"

This shouldn't be a thing. It's bizarre for all these years since Sonic's creation, all the character has to show for it is a remix game of a bygone era as his biggest hit since the 90's.

I can't keep supporting a company that doesn't even try. That has no idea what they are doing, and just keeps throwing Sonic in whatever random idea that comes to mind.

When will enough be enough? When will people stop accepting medicorty and demand Sega actually try with it's character?

I don't hate the fanbase, but fans just keep forgiving and forgiving. It's like when will it stop? When will fans say "no"? I doubt ever.

Games like frontiers shouldn't have sold as much as it did. All it does is reinforce to Sega, mediocrity is okay because no one expects or demands better.

And that's just sad. Sonic shouldn't have a terrible record like this. Nor does the character deserve it. But, it is what it is.

Re: The First Review For Sonic Superstars Is Now In

Frailbay30

@WaveBoy Why do you continue to invest a series that doesn't really appeal to you?

With that asked, I've played the classics and disgree. Even at the age of 9 and 10, I beat these games will little to no trouble. The most annoying level being Chemical Plant Zone. Sonic was the first game I willingly choose over Mario.

The level themselves are easy to master. After 2 or 3 playthroughs, you can quickly figure out the design layout and know exactly which route is best to take to get you the best score possible.

In one day I easily managed Sonic Mania despite haven't touching classic Sonic 2000. Anyways, Im sorry you didn't enjoy yourself, but for me the adrenaline I get from trying to get through a stage as fast possible is always fun. It's like playing a racing game where the timer is your rival.

I don't agree with you at all the speed is too fast to the point of being unplayable. If that were case, this franchise wouldn't have lasted as long as it did or have the fanbase over the decades.
