If you're a keen Pokémon GO player, you'll no doubt be aware that some of those elusive critters can only be obtained in certain parts of the world. While it hasn't been confirmed just yet, it looks like some of those exclusive to particular regions could be about to have a bit of a swap around.
As reported by Serebii.net, a recent newsletter received by some Pokémon GO players contains a special note about a New Year Surprise. The newsletter states that something strange is happening which could affect the migration of certain Pokémon, specifically mentioning the region of Hoenn. No more information has been provided, but this certainly hints towards a location swap for several Pokémon.
This has happened before - Seviper and Zangoose have been known to switch places, as have Solrock and Lunatone - so there's no reason to believe that this wouldn't be the case once again. Other Hoenn regional exclusives include Torkoal, Relicanth, Illumise, Volbeat, and Tropius; perhaps these Pokémon might benefit from a swap this time around?

Recently got back into Pokémon go because of Let’s Go Pikachu. Finished let’s go in a week but I’m still playing Pokémon go every lunch break... they bloody got me again didn’t they!
@zander_dale These days they really provide quite a bit to keep you coming back... Especially if you have friends to battle, trade with, and send gifts to. However, i don't know what they're going to do once they catch up with the number of Pokemon generations that already exist. I'd say at the rate they're going we still have at least a couple years before that happens though.

Oh I hope so! So many gaps in my ‘dex because of the regional exclusives. They’re a cool idea but kinda suck in reality.
Yeah, I missed out on Lunatone before it swapped with Solrock the first time, so I would totally like for them to swap again. I hate the gaps in my Pokédex.
@FiveDigitLP I agree! Plus it’s tough to keep get all the special evolution items and all that. Hey, I’m having fun! Hopefully I’ll keep going till gen 8 comes out. I liked the ability to connect although it made it all v easy...
