Get ready to platform across time as the multiverse-hopping antics of Double Cross is coming to Nintendo Switch this summer. Coming from 13AM Games - the same indie studio that brought Runbow to various Ninty platforms - Double Cross is a 2D action-adventure platformer that's ultra colourful and extra charming.
You'll be leaping about in the shoes of Zahra, an agent of R.I.F.T. (Regulators of Interdimensional Frontiers and Technology) whose job it is to maintain peace and order between all dimensions. A recent attack on R.I.F.T. headquarters thrusts you into a thrilling new case where they must use your R.I.F.T. developed gear to sling, swing, fight and investigate across distinct dimensions. You can upgrade Zahra over the course of the game, offering myriad playstyles beyond simple platforming.
Check out the trailer above and let us know what you make of the energetic acrobatics of Double Cross...

Am I a mean person that hates fun if I say that this looks really lame to me? Like ultra blah Mega Man combined with Bionic Commando.
@mercilessrobot not Mean but Honest
Nah...
@mercilessrobot Can't view the video in work, but man that's sounds like an awesome description! I'll judge when I see it.
It's great to see it's a single player focused game this time.I love action platformers and I trust this will be a good one since Runbow was a very polished and fun experience.
@mercilessrobot I guess I am too. I loved runbow, but this just looks like most other 2d platormers. I’m sure it will be fun and a well done game, just might not be for me.
Hooooooweee that looks early. With the smooth experience Runbow has I cannot believe this will be how the final product will be. Rough as hell.
Looks like a touch screen (mobile phone) game to me
Looks good! I wouldn't have expected anything less from 13AM games after Runbow.
My initial reaction based on the trailer is that it doesn't look like anything too special. But who knows, maybe it'll surprise me and turn out to be really good.
I'll keep an eye on this. Character designs are great. Runbow was good fun, but I never really got to play it to its full potential thanks to having no local friends. A single player game will work a lot better for me!
@OorWullie That's exactly how I feel. I got the Runbow demo and enjoyed it, but opted not to get the full game as I'm really not that into multiplayer. This seems a great chance to support the dev after all, seeing how well-made Runbow was.
Looks quite nice IMHO
Looks like a WayForward game but that ain't a bad thing.
There is so much empty space in some scenes, it looks like it's missing another 8 players! It looks very clean, but very basic :/
@sinalefa Not quite as detailed but okay. I would rather have an Iconoclasts port to the Switch though.
@GrailUK My thoughts exactly. There needs to be some life in these levels but not just filled with stuff just for the sake of it.
The gameplay holds promise but the level design and possibly art style need work. The levels look very simple and empty
Two words: Awesomenauts DLC
I can see it, the same characters in the same universe. It’d pretty neat
It look like a reject mega man character
It has an interesting concept but I think some more polish is needed
Not a fan of side scroller. Will be saving money for games on my checklist.
Looks okay, but nothing more.
ouch, doesn't look good. I never really got into Runbow but this looks very generic. I hope the gameplay offers some more unique.
Is it just me or does this feel like a Cartoon Network game or something? Like the art direction makes me think of something like Been 10 or Teen Titans. Not saying it's bad or good. Just noticing it.
compared to RUNBOW the art direction looks worse, to much details in characters when they are so small on screen, combat looks jankier and platforming looks just okay.
Great idea and character designs but echo some others, the game graphics are not to my taste.
If there are more exploring tasks than just zap this zap that it could be interesting 😊
Lots of goofy characters, I can appreciate that.
The player is a little small on screen though, and the environments can not exactly described as BOLD.
I like the personality they put into the trailer but I was just not interested when I saw the gameplay.
Hard to be interested when good 2D platformers are two a penny now. Dev's need to join forces into more ambitious 3D environments more now - if they want to stand out from the crowd.
@mercilessrobot I really enjoyed Runbow but you and I share the same opinion after watching the trailer for their newest game.
I too felt bad having this feeling, but it looks bad!
@mercilessrobot Not "mean" but "eager to whine".
I thought Runbow was mediocre (in spite of the acclaim), and this looks worse. The art is just....lame. It looks too clean and smooth, like a bad flash game.
Im surprised this is from the makers of Runbow. This looks like a Nickelodeon Tv -to-game show iOS game.
When I said I wanted Double Cross on Switch I wasn’t expecting this ;D
Monster Hunter World was a mistake
The foundation of a great game is there, but it looks like they haven't put in that final 10% of polish that juices up a game from boring to outstanding.
Feels like a genre miss match for the story.
Congratulations Villanova!
