For anybody familiar with the rules, does the orientation of the actual pokemon die matter? Seemed like in the second game, the first thrower was let down by how it rolled.

Here's the thing though. I know quite a few people who study art, both in high school and in college. Every one of them has had assignments practicing duplicating some work of art as closely as possible. It's part of the learning experience.

I see the same thing here. "Is our tool capable of generating something similar to what's out there already". That's not a copyright violation by itself, it depends what they do with it - they'd have to monetize it, or at least copy large portions of it. This isn't the end goal, it's a proof of concept.

This is one of the hardest votes for me! Both are really good. Have a similar vibe but still very distinct from each other.

I like the intensity and originality of the Japanese version. The NA version is just kind of what you always expect from any multi-character cartoon sports game.

I played the demo and I absolutely hated almost every single character. Obnoxious, shallow stereotypes.

Yeah this choice didn't make any sense to me.

Honestly, the old New Super Mario Bros. games were easier to tackle with low-skill players. "Let me just pick you up and carry you for a second hunny" was usually fine.

Kirby Epic Yarn had a really good approach too.

@Rhaoulos It's POSSIBLE that the guy in sunglasses midright with two drinks has a change. Looks like a bit of pubic hair showing out of his unzipped shorts in the uncensored version removed in the US version. But it could just be a coloration issue.

If this were 2P couch co-op I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Good. There is zero reason to take it completely off the table. It's a tool like any other.

@OpheliaDynamight This is how I feel about it, too. Yes, it hurts some people pretty hard in the short term, but in the long term it's just part of technological progress and overall will be a positive thing.

I don't care if something is made by AI or not just like I don't care if animation is hand-drawn or computer generated or not. I care if it's good.

Yeah both are weak. Japan's is boring, NA looks like a magazine advert instead of a game cover.

Just found this from the other article about DD2. The comment above about FE games becoming bloated is dead on point. I've really disliked the latest entries. Might look into this one and its sequel.

Over at CTRL-ALT-DEL comics, they whined and moaned about how unfair the Silksong publishers were being by giving so little warning, which "made" other games change their release dates. Good grief. One business has no obligation to make things easier for their competitors.

Still, thanks for taking a minute to highlight these! I'll be looking into Dark Deity 2 (maybe there's Japanese VAs? The English ones are pretty corny. They Japanese ones might be too, but I couldn't tell). Also Fling to the Finish! Been looking for something light to play with my daughter.

NA isn't anything special but wow is that Europe cover trash.

The best solution is not to demand features you haven't paid for, but to not buy games that don't guarantee you an offline experience - if that's what you care about. You spent your money on a game that didn't have a feature you want, don't go crying to the government demanding you get something you didn't pay for.

Pixel art retro is one thing, but I have zero desire to relive the early 3D days of PS1 and N64.

I'm way in the minority here, but to my eye the NA version is way too busy & chaotic and makes less sense the more I look at it. Japan is cleaner and I really like the wire frames. I'll admit the sharp cutoff between the scene and the diagrams is too severe though.

Even with a graph showing me exactly when it's happening, I still can't tell the difference between 30 fps and 60 fps

I love to play games with a mouse! I don't like to play games with something 1/4 the size of a normal mouse, not shaped like a mouse, with buttons not placed like a mouse. Just I like I don't playing with a controller... that's 1/8 the size of a normal controller, not shaped like a controller, with buttons not placed like a controller.

So, can I just connect a normal mouse to the Switch 2?

@Polvasti Commercial use is relevant, but not determinative, of the question of fair use. Many fair uses can be monetized. This site uses images of Nintendo products and Nintendo games. I don't know if it profits or not, but if they're monetizing ads or other revenue streams, it's still a commercial use and it's still OK. Like I said I don't know exactly how far this service's use goes but it should be within the realm of possibility to make a dating site for people who enjoy Smash Bros. that still uses a (limited amount) of the names, images, logos, etc.

Hm, I'd have to have more details, but this really seems likely to be fair use, both of copyright and/or trademark. As long as they're not trying to make it seem like it's being run by, sponsored by, or approved by Nintendo itself, you're allowed to talk about an IP, gather together fellow fans of the IP, etc.

Lol that's not how trademark works. You can't violate a trademark by talking about something, showing pictures of it, reporting on it, etc. You violate a trademark by trying to make your own version and passing it off as your own to sell it. It's closer to a trade secrets violation.
