Eh, I liked the games but I'm fine with them being done. They were all basically identical anyway, there was little improvement or substantive change between them.
Xbox has been in 3rd place for 2 generations now. Sony and Nintendo both have massive amounts of console exclusives. I see zero problem with this. Government doesn't need to protect us from the companies that make luxury devices.
@ATaco I'm right there with you. I'd never played a Bayonetta game so I decided to pick 3 up from Gamefly to give it a try.... I've never played anything more incoherent in my life.
Nothing makes sense. The gameplay is just button mashing garbage. Most of the game is cinematics which are like 30% visual nonsense, 20% eyerolling "Ooh, I'm so sassy" one-liners, and 50% butt & boob closeups. Here, you're riding a sky whale. Oh, now there's this chick in a dalmatian fur coat. Hey, now you're controlling a cruise ship. A skyscraper just cracked in half, fell in the ocean, and its needle pierced this sea monster chasing you. MASH THE BUTTONS FOR MORE GIGATONS. MAX GIGATONS RAAAAAAAAAAAAAWR. Witch Time! Oh, you're a butterfly now.
"One of the most common complaints thrown at [all Nintendo hardware] (at least [every console generation) is that it's starting to look slightly antiquated when compared to [every other current generation console]"
FTFY. Seriously, does anybody ACTUALLY complain about this? Starting in the 32-bit generation, Nintendo has always been the weakest hardware because they've focused on something else completely. This is well known, anybody complaining should know better.
@Expa0 I would've said the same thing until I played Live a Live (which I was generally unimpressed by, but this part stood out to me). Healing after each fight removes that nagging uncertainty you have when you have no idea how long a dungeon is, how long until your next tent/inn/save spot/etc. It also removes the perennial problem many RPGs have where the most efficient thing to do with your MP pool is almost always healing (at least insofar as any of your characters can both heal and do anything else with their MP).
How much of the video was showing Nintendo's IP? Fair use - especially when reporting - will protect you to some degree, but how much of something you show does matter. My dad worked in television broadcasting and he always told me the rule of thumb was you could show about 5 seconds of something copyrighted safely when reporting on it.
Honestly can't recommend it. The first quarter of the game is pretty good, but the rest of it stinks. And as good as that initial deckbuilder is, it dies get repetitive and dull pretty quick. It's not well balanced, it's too easy to put together broken decks. Doesn't have the staying power of Slay the Spire.
I read a lot of good things about To The Moon, so I picked it up. I thought the story and gameplay were interesting but the dialogue writing was so juvenile I gave it up.
@Hydra_Spectre They could easily do a prequel, within the story, no? Wasn't this problem arising every 1,000 years? I definitely agree with you that IV was an amazing capstone though.
@Browny "boycotts" often backfire like this if they're not well thought through. Streisand effect, counter-influence... there's lots of reasons a product may actually do better when targeted with a call for boycott.
Look, if you want more money, ask for money. If they say no, say no back to them. Don't be a whiny little bitch about it and expect the world to agree with you.
This makes me think of the GBA FF Tactics Advance for some reason. I like the idea a lot. Like others, I'm guessing not playing as Link might've been the bridge too far.
"At this point, it seems almost certain that Square Enix is using an AI to randomly generate new titles in its “Underlined Serif Title” RPG series. Triangle Strategy already felt like it was pushing the limits"
I tried the demo and thought the same thing about the controls. Such a horrible choice to have to use your cursor like a mouse. Really dampened my enjoyment of the game.
"While there's no doubt that Kit and Krysta's story is true,"
Um, there's a LOT of doubt the story is true. You got both sides of the story, and they contradict each other partially, so why are you saying this? I don't even think K&K are lying, but people misremember things ALL THE TIME.
This is the whole problem with this kind of finger-pointing reporting. Even for recent events, memory and perception can be wildly different for different people, so taking something like this as gospel is foolish.
My friend was so much better than me at this game he could beat me holding the controller upside down. I still loved it though, and still prefer it to any later entry.
Can somebody explain why long straight tracks weren't possible in splitscreen, due to hardware limitations? I don't really understand why that's the case.
@Late Describes my experience perfectly. That said, I hadn't even thought of this game in a long time and now I'm itching to twiddle around with it a bit, hah.
I have to agree with Not_Soos. Tons of games have positive representation of LGBTQ. Nobody these days would ever dare portray them in a negative light or even in a joking manner. But I rarely see positive depictions of Christianity or even religion more generally. More often it's a lazy, stereotypical trope done without much thought.
"Worse yet, Cult of the Lamb outright crashed on us once and softlocked a few more times"
I think Devolver Digital has a real problem with Switch games. I bought Card Shark and the game hardlocked about 90% of the way in, absolutely nothing you could do, it froze after you loaded your game. Lots of people with the same problem on Discord, but it took them about 4 months to fix it.
Without too much in the way of spoilers, can someone lightly touch on how the stories come together? Is each character like a short prelude before they come together (like Octopath) or are they lengthy separate stories that only merge towards the end?
Played ever? I have some extremely vague memories of playing Pitfall at a cousin's house on an Atari. First one I ever owned? That would be the Sega Master System with built-in Alex Kidd.
