Bravely Default II might have been pushed back to 2021, but the good news is the development team has taken player feedback on board and used it to improve the overall experience.
As of September, the demo has been downloaded around one million times, and there have been 22,000 questionnaire responses. Players were fond of the game's music, job system, graphics, the battle system, and the characters, but didn't really like the difficulty and usability (things like accessibility, UI and certain controls).
Here's the full list of improvements and changes from the latest video (see above):
Did you play the demo and provide feedback? What do you think of these improvements? Comment below.

I'm really glad game developers are doing stuff like this with making demos long before release to see what people like and don't like, and fix what needs fixing, like octopath or daemon x machina. Hope people do this more often, it can really help a game
thinking of skippping it, the changes referenced my issues but don't look like they fixed em
@ancientlii Same here, the video mentions the UI issues I reported too, but the demo was so bad I just lost all the hype I had for it.
Does this mean the game is no longer trying to drive the series to become a mobile only franchise?
Mmh i will wait till the actual release, or reviews of the game, Or a new gameplay video..
The demo kinda lost me.
Barely played the demo, as demos of big story driven games never really entice me as I feel I am being dumped in without context. Still I loved the 3DS games so will buy this.
So, umm... Did nobody feedback about the character models?
There seems to be an amount of negativity for the fact they have even done this.
They can't change or sort every problem that people had, the fact they have done this and said about it should be commended, applauded and tbh, be enough.
@kupocake Character models were never going to change from what the demo showed (it's style is very reminiscent of the other two games in the series but 3d), was likely set in stone already and ultimately not something they would be willing to change, same goes for the graphics as a whole.
I think some people too might be missing what feedback can actually be implemented.
As an analogy, if you have bought a house, it stays that house, you can by all means decorate it (change ui + other fixes), but to change how many windows it has is a much bigger deal.
@jonlol
Here the same, Demo was just awful.
Feels like they try tu succsed the Series with an entirely different Team that doesn't have the same "Feeling" and Experience of what they are doing.
Well I absolutely loved the demo and have about 20hrs on it over multiple playthroughs 😊
I was one of those who gave feedback and think it's a truly fantastic thing for developers to do!
Roll on February, the game looks great 😁
Phew, thank goodness they added the exclamation points.
Loved Bravely Default on 3DS, and enjoyed a lot the demo on Switch. Plus I really like they took feedback and in my opinion improved the game. This is a must-buy for me!
@Ratking what is being censored?
@FX102A Yeah... The demo was a little of putting compared to the demo for Bravely Second, which was a prequel to the main story. This demo looks to have nothing to do with the main story.
What about the 3DS graphics on Switch? And I'm not referring to the drawn style backgrounds, but the overall quality.
Even Octopath Traveler seemed more visually attractive to me.
I thought the graphics in the demo were very fuzzy and not particularly good for a game made exclusively for Switch. Was I the only one?
@Ratking Could you give me a better indication of what is being censored? What are the differences over the version that will be released in the west?
edit: typos
@kupocake THANK YOU! lol. The characters are SO derpy! Also...I think people missed your sarcasm. Haha
I love that they took some of my feedback into consideration, though not necessarily in directions I thought they would (such as with the enemy encounters). For the most part I'm pleased with the changes. Not sure this will be a day one buy however.
@FX102A If I recall, the story in the BD II demo will have nothing to do with the final product. It was more meant as a sandbox to play around with the new and old series mechanics.
@Ratking If you could send some source concerning censorship in Bravely Default 2, as your comment seems to imply, I would appreciate.
I am aware of the censorship (outfits changes, dialogue "adaptations", characters' ages) in previous entries.
Sadly the only thing I was particularly upset with seems to have been ignored. As more more devs continue to push visible encounters, I get less and less immersion into these games. I still, honestly, do not understand why Deadpool not make random encounters an optionable toggle in the settings menu.
@Ratking I'm not saying they won't do it, even less defending them. The chances are high that unfortunately you will be right. But you just shouldn't imply stuff you can't be sure about.
And that is applicable everywhere.
Anyway, stay safe.
@kupocake what’s wrong with the character models? Seems to match the standard Bravely Default art style to me.
I love that they took the time to present this in such a (dare I say) scholarly way! And with great changes. I have big hopes for the second iteration. Ha, might keep the demo just to go back and compare it...
