As part of Free Comic Book Day this year, IDW Publishing will release a Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary special issue. This free comic is based on IDW's deluxe hardcover edition, which celebrates the blue blur's history with "all-new adventures" inspired by the original 2D games.
Sonic will be joined by Miles "Tails" Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, Amy Rose, Mighty the Armadillo, Ray the Flying Squirrel and many other "special guests" as they travel through zones in search of the Chaos Emeralds. There are stories from Sonic writer Ian Flynn and some of the "biggest fans" of Sega's mascot.
The free comic will be available on 14th August from any comic book shop participating in FCBD. The deluxe hardcover edition will arrive later this year on 5th October. And in case you missed it, a Sonic the Hedgehog physical card game has just been revealed.

@HotGoomba Yep I love all things sonic, but idk how I fell about that card game I haven't looked at it but is it a video game? or a real life thing if so I must collect them.

Based on some leaks I saw, I was worried Sega would discontinue Classic Sonic - glad to know that seems not to be the case! Now let's just hope Sega can keep him his own thing and not do another terrible crossover with wonky physics like Forces...

Are sonic comics still poorly drawn? All I remember is that over the decades those things had some serious unpracticed interior art that made me think it had to all be nepotism 😂

That stuff is always fanfiction by the folks who have been swearing the next game will be SA3 for nearly two decades now but nowadays they alternate it with a remake of SA1.

Depends on the artist the IDW comics can still look pretty bland, if you wanna see amazing art look into Megadrive.

I really wish they would just release a collection of Sonic the Comic (STC the UK one) that was the one I grew up with. Never gets the love it deserves these days.
Interesting article. Wrong website, but I guess that's to be expected on unofficial Nintendo sites now. It's gotten so bad on Nintendo Smash that they barely cover anything Nintendo-related at all.
