Re: DOOM Provides a 'Good Reference Point' to What Wolfenstein II Will Offer on Switch

I think the difference between EA and Bethesda is that people didn't have high hopes for their FIFA game in the first place. EA has burned Nintendo gamers in the past, and sometimes when you burn trust it's hard to get out of that rut, especially when their portable FIFA was missing features.

Whereas, even around here, a lot of people claim they will support releases like DOOM and Skyrim. Bethesda has never released their games on a Nintendo system. They have never burned anyone's trust here. On top of that, they are putting in actual effort. The games look amazing. That's all anyone who cares wanted. I don't think these games will end the same way as FIFA, but how highly they sale with great competition is a different story.

And it may be that it's a small budget looking game, but those little games can have hours upon hours worth of fun in them. And they are about equal to the price of a meal I get at a restaurant.

At least with these games there is the factor of replayability.

The only reason I would have confusion to your post is that you're posting it on a forum, for a game, that is releasing on the Switch first. It's not even on any other systems yet, not even PC, so I don't understand why Wulverblade gets your 'the Switch is a lean, mean porting machine' ranting.

Re: Review: Astro Bears Party (Switch eShop)

Hmm, the only reason I considered it at first was because of the price point.

It's too bad there isn't more going for it.

I guess Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime it will be whenever I break free from Stardew Valley to play with my comrades.

Yeah, I heard about that. I wouldn't say a slap in the face, since it's a different audience of people and it was available at that price over on Xbox when it originally released, but if you own an Xbox there isn't much that beats free. It makes the Switch version a hard sell for sure.

At the end of the day, you can just think of it as paying the developers for the quality of their product. And the positive reviews say that its a quality game.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Breaks Down DOOM On Switch In A Unique Way

@JaxonH
Yes! I agree wholeheartedly.
At first, during the Wii U era, we were getting shafted on content when third party games came to the system at all.

Now the main complaint is 30fps?! Like come on!
The game looks great and it will have ALL of the content! That to me is a win! And it can be played on the go! That's steps above what the Wii U had.

Bethesda is bringing great, nearly current, games to the Switch. Can we appreciate that and have fun gaming like the good old days?

It makes sense for them not to currently rate the game though. If/when the patch comes, then the rating would be off because the problems that exist currently make it unplayable and they have addressed that. However, once the patch comes and has fixed the problems that plague the game, that would be the time to let those interested know how the game stands up.

They even said they would most likely recommend it once the problems are corrected so the lack of a rating is justified in that case.

There's also the fact most reviewers don't review a game after patches to reflect the current state of a game.

Re: Retail Version of DOOM on Switch Will Need a Download for Online Multiplayer

Desa

@SLIGEACH_EIRE
The Switch is the first modern console where I have been able to plug in a retail game of any sort and just play it. The fact that there will be times when a portion of the game has to be downloaded to the SD card...I don't see the problem.
If I lose the memory card? I could lose the cart itself as well.
Downloading a portion of the game? I've had to do that with EVERY retail game I bought for my ps4, waiting patiently to play them.
This isn't an end of the world problem at all. At least I honestly can't see it that way, and I normally agree with you on a lot of points. But until I can slide a disk into my ps4 and play a game with no updates, this isn't anything new.

Re: Mario Party: The Top 100 Will Combine The Best of the Series on 3DS

This is one of the only games post-Switch I am happy is a Nintendo 3ds release.
My friends have a 3ds and not a Switch at this time, and both love Mario Party, so I'm sure I'll be keeping my 3ds around a little longer thanks to that. So yes, I don't mind one more game remaining a 3ds exclusive. The era of Switch has only just begun.

How To Train Your Dragon...er, Monster Hunter Stories for me for sure tomorrow as a retail purchase.
Other than that I'm sure I'll pick up a few of the other titles as well, but that is the only automatic buy for me this week.

Why isn't Mario still that game for little Jimmy to open during Christmas? Mario releases in late October, which is only two months away from Christmas and most people do Christmas shop early these days. It's most likely releasing at the perfect time to maximize sales.

Re: FIFA 18 on Switch to Include Ultimate Team, EA Boasts of Most 'Advanced' Portable Version

Desa

@Azooooz
I can't speak for everyone but for me its like a hurt if you do, hurt if you don't situation. If people buy into this knowing how it is missing a bit of content like say story mode then it might become the new benchmark for other 3rd parties. If you don't buy to make a statement then they won't support the console anymore at all not fully grasping the reason behind the lack of a purchase.
However, there is a Switch mode to this game that could actually make up for the lack of story mode. Time will tell, so I'm currently sitting on the fence for now.

Maybe one day we will look back on the early stages Mynintendo and laugh while holding back a cringe, thinking about what it used to be and how far it has come.
Unfortunately, today doesn't seem to be that day, but I will get the theme because why not?
