During today's Nindie Showcase Nintendo's Damon Baker made the point that the company is keen to ensure all kinds of games are available on the Switch eShop. To that end he announced Morphies Law, a 4 vs 4 shooter from Cosmoscope with some interesting twists.
Check out the trailer below to get a sense of what this one's all about.
The mechanic of characters shrinking and growing depending on performance is rather neat, and it'll be interesting to see if it'll take off.
It'll be out on Switch as a console exclusive this Winter.

Count me intrigued.
Options are nice.
Definitely sounds interesting. I'll wait and see what the pricing is like.
How long before the dude from Ireland complains about it it being another indie developed game.
Different
I'm curious...but more importantly I'm happy that the switch is getting more shooters (even if I dislike the genre).
The day of the dead aesthetic is a nice touch. Oh good this is going to PC, so that should help it gain traction overall.
Wow...most of these are either coming first or are just exclusive to switch. And they look super intriguing.
Well it's certainly something different anyway,at least for a Nintendo console.I'm assuming it will have online play and not just LAN play?My concern with that is it might be difficult to find 7 other players online to play with.Cross play with PC would really help.
Will definitely buy if it is online. I don't have anyone to play with locally.
Activision are quivering. Is this really what people want?
@kobashi100 I'm here. 12 minutes.
The concept is so cool. I hope this plays as great as it looks. Will wait for reviews but so far are more in than out.
@kobashi100 shh don't tease him please.
Edit: oppss he is already here.
Too good. Any team deathmatch-style game with unique gameplay is immediately on my radar. It's the kind of game I have been hoping would come to Switch in droves.
Morphies' Law has a ton of potential (+ an awesome name), so I really hope it comes through and finds proper success. Looks right on the mark so far!
Insert desperate plea for gyro aiming here
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Personally I'd prefer games like this to something like Call of Duty.
Don't get me wrong, I know a Call of Duty game would mean more for the Switch in terms of sales/attention....but you're asking for what we "want" and as someone who's a part of the "we", I'm telling you my preference.
Edit: I just checked and you're probably talking about Overwatch? I'll admit I would prefer to see Overwatch.....but I don't see why that means we can't have indie games like this too.
This honestly looks really interesting, and has potential. It's basically agario but as a shooter.
I was kind of surprised after Baker made that remark that it wasn't a FPS, as that's the genre which is really missing, as this does bare some resemblance to Splatoon. Now I don't like FPS, so I'm fine with this, but his comment seemed inappropriate, why point out what Switch doesn't have and then show a game similar to one it already does?
We'll keep our eyes on this one.
@Dizzard I respect your choice.
This seems to be shaping up nicely.
I guess Overwatch can go and pack its bags...
Oooo this could be nice.
The idea of getting easier to hit when winning and harder to hit when losing sounds awesome. We can thand SPLATOON for quirky shooters like this.
Can't say I'm particularly interested myself. Not a big online shooter fan at all. However it has potential and there's always an outside chance something.like this could really take off.
Legitimately cool concept that could work really well if they get the balancing right. Hopefully, if it does turn out good, it will manage to get a decent-sized playerbase.
@WhiteTrashGuy Absolutely. My first reaction was that it was being quirky just to be quirky, but it is in fact an excellent gameplay mechanic.
@kobashi100 The ignore button works well on this site, if you need it.
This is the one of games I want to see Nintendo either making themselves or partnering with Indies to bring to the Switch. Games that fill a slot where other higher profile games in that genre won't probably see the light of day
Humanity is gone
Humanity creates legacy to remember them by
Humanity ensures it's legacy has an innate need for battle...and butt implants? 0_o'
Way to go humanity. -_-
This looks pretty awesome, honestly! The lack of shooters on Switch makes this one stand out right away, and the twists on how shooting affects the size of your limbs is fascinating!
@kobashi100 The Ignore button is your friend. I've added that fellow and a few others to my Ignore list and my NintendoLife experience has improved dramatically. I get no joy out of seeing someone incessantly complain in the comments section about nearly everything, and with the Ignore button you never see any of someone's comments or people responding to them. It is wonderful and I highly recommend it if you've had enough ire in your life.
I will take it but so need a true FPS experience on the go... please someone!
I'll have to wait for reviews to make a purchase, but it has certainly caught my eye! I have my FPS game need filled for a good while so quirky ones like this are great!
@Tempestryke Don't forget that humanity created day of the dead themed robots with the butt implants. Viva la culture?
@Ryu_Niiyama
That too. Viva la Culture!
Got me interested in this.
Anyone remember Fatboy from Unreal Tournament 99? That was the first thing that came to my mind. The more you killed, the fatter you got and the more you died, the skinnier.
@Qwertyninty Hollow could be that game. It certainly looks impressive and far beyond what we would normally expect from an indie. It was announced for Switch a month or so ago yet I've hardly seen anyone mention it let alone report on it.
Its Morph'N Time ~
I'll be looking more into this but Switch needs these kind of games that's for sure !
@OorWullie
You are right! Thanks for reminding me. Still the gameplay isn't doing much for me.
This game looks really interesting so I'll be interested to see more. Whether I purchase or not will likely depend on whether or not there's gyro aiming.
Looks confusing, but kinds fun, will keep a look out
An interesting concept, however being multiplayer I'm unlikely to pick it up.
My only qualm is its "post apocalyptic" setting; in what way does that actually contribute to the game? Unfortunately that automatically was a negative for me.
Concept is interesting, but the style/theme is what turns me off
Lol, looks very weird.
