Yeah, I was thinking Tortimer myself. It would be sad if so. I was little when i played AC on Gamecube. It'll feel like I lost someone i actually did grow up with.
@frogopus Yeah, I already know a lot of people will plan on doing that. Me though I like to be honest and going out of my way to lie just to retrieve data I should be able to do myself as I could with the 3DS still leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth. I don't want to be a liar just because while the ability obviously will exist in some way, shape or form, they don't want it to be broadly used.
Dumb. Short and simple. So basically I'm stuck with the switch I originally start a save file on. No deciding to go from a lite to a regular switch or to a pro model if that really will ever be a thing. Your town with poof and you'll be left to start over.
@Wargoose Sharing with my friends and family who also have a switch. That can't be done if the game is only on my system, which also makes digital games feel super expensive. And I get physical games for a little more than 20% off thanks to where i work.
Um...that's not ok. Overall Animal Crossing is a game very many, including myself, can invest hours into. New Leaf for me has over a 1000 and I have switched that data across different 3ds models over the years. If the Switch doesn't allow such a move where perhaps your switch has just worn down or you want to switch your data to a pro model if that happens down the line, with no cloud saves in place it really is a royally messed up case with very little reason for it. I'd much rather have my time and energy invested in the game safe over whatever excuse for a reason they have for potentially not even allowing data transfers as a possibility.
Considering its going to be a port of a game that has already been on the market, I think a lot of people feel more secure at this not just being a total risk and don't mind actually funding a copy.
I would love to get Steamworld Quest as it's the only one I need at this point, but I have to be strong and wait until i have a nest of extra funds first, especially now that I have to chip at my Animal Crossing switch deposit. Don't worry, I'll add you to the collection...eventually.
Wow...it looks like a straight copycat down to the position of the controller buttons. The Twitter post itself is also...fairly off-putting. The price of the switch is high in comparison to what? I highly doubt they are shooting to low ball this for anything under $500.
Well we did just have an indie direct. Considering how little there is on the horizon of first party titles by Nintendo, Animal Crossing aside, it would make sense for one to occur this or next month for sure.
I chose 626 for Stitch from Lilo and Stitch of course. Lol But this is so cool. I wondered if there was a meaning like maybe the number in the dex of a Pokemon with the typing of the gym and such. This is cooler however.
We finally get a mainline title for a home console and most of the beloved Pokemon we grew to know and love won't ever be on it. I just don't believe that they couldn't have added all the Pokemon for the first home console release. The switch is definitely more powerful than the 3ds and it would have been nice to have at least one game with every Pokemon available on a home console. There are some that say I shouldn't be disappointed, but with newer and better hardware the things they could have done to make catching them all for at least one last game would have been really exciting on the Switch. I can't hide that I am disappointed that it will never happen for a home console apparently.
@Ralek85
If the rules created by the developers are there in place, I feel as if the ones trying to make a living off of them should at least know that much and adhere to them even more. As someone else pointed out, they are in the limelight, and if a viewer of their content finds out they are cheating, it could destroy the whole reason those rules were there in the first place, with a lot complaining well I saw my favorite streamer doing it so how come nothing happened to them?
There is no reason why content creators should be above that because the developers saw a need for those rules in the first place to make sure every player has fun =equally= the same way. It's just not fair to anyone if, just because you profit more than I do, and I decide to do the same, I get subjected to the developers ban, but not the person who was doing it just because it's their profession. If they don't know enough to try to make content that's under the same rules as the ones watching their content, I don't see why anything should be bended for them, and I watch a lot of YouTube. It's more I believe fair is square and beneficial for the overall gaming community.
@KitsuneNight Being clumsy I suppose. The support pieces over the fan broke off, and it's like it's a little loose. It's annoying, but aside from that it works and plays fine and docks normally, and I always used a screen protector so that's in near perfect condition.
I kind of want one myself now. However, I still will wait a little more just in case they release a special bundle or limited edition down the line. I want it, but I don't need it. If anything, I need to upgrade my original model first before a handheld only model will be needed. It's a little broken on the top and splitting slightly. n.n;
It sucks that the retail version is ten dollars more than other versions for what is only slightly a lesser experience, but I'm glad that it holds up overall and can't wait to play my copy which should arrive today.
I also think that one bad review shot the game selling well on the switch in the foot too. A good reputation can so easily be turned to ash with just one ember. Plus, the other systems got remastered editions. If you own more than the switch, you might have just opted for that if the review made you wary, or if you prefer graphics over portability.
I am enjoying the game on switch. It's fun and the characters are indeed charming. Can't believe I went this long without playing it.
There should definitely be some sort of consequence to releasing games this way. Consumers pay money out of their hard earned pay checks to support developers, but in kind, developers should think more about the final product they release. Updates this far out should mean this title should have been delayed at the least. Nobody would want a brand new pair of shoes that had the seems fall apart as soon as they put them on, same with a video game. Quality should be a standard, not an eventuality.
The mystery genre is so rare, at least as far as being available on the kind of systems I own, that I welcome this with open arms. The art style grabs my attention, and the voice acting is icing. Hopefully, it's fun because I do plan to get it at some point for sure.
Yeah, there is definitely an overwhelming amount of games. I say bring it on because I've been looking forward to this. Heck, I might even want it more than LoZ.
I really hate being that person, but with the amount of SD card space I have remaining being a dismal number, I'm going to have to pass on this myself. It's exactly why I wanted it physical in the first place, to avoid the usage of my space being eaten away. Sigh. I'm bummed.
@YourGoodFriendly While I get what you're saying, I'm part of a userbase that hasn't played this game yet. Yes, I know my switch can go full on portable. I switch up my gaming habits depending on the game I'm playing. All I'm saying is that there can be an audience for this game even if it's not for you and that's fine. If I were to buy this game I would only play it docked, while connected to my TV the same way one would on PS4. Just because I can't play this game in every way that is versatile to the system doesn't mean there won't ever come a time for me to play it. That's the beauty of our little system, and if a game truly doesn't suit your way of play that's fine, but it doesnt mean others, who may not own other ways to play, won't be interested.
@YourGoodFriendly
If this game is actually coming to switch, I don't see why that argument would hold any water. If the Switch is the only method of play you have, or if maybe you're a person that doesn't even own a different system which can play this game, then this is the demographic they are shooting for. Personally, I'd just play this game docked at home because I'm interested in trying this game out personally, and I would just play something else when I want to go out and about.
@Bunkerneath I sincerely hope that's because it should be expected that it will contain a physical cart instead of their not being one with a digital download code inside. ^^;
However, it does suck that because of such practices we now question if a physical release is actually physical.
It's crazy how something so simple can become a controversial line these days. If boys and girls didn't become men and women, none of us here today would exist, and we wouldn't have reached the point where tech helps make today's standards of being what you want possible. Just let these parents have fun.
Well, I'll be. One of my work mates keeps asking me if I have a baseball game for my switch and I didn't want to break down and buy the RBI games just yet. Most likely this will definitely be my first baseball related game on switch. Seems pretty solid if it does transition well to the console.
@johnvboy It's not about thinking we know better. It's about the developers taking out core assets that make the game truly what it is in favor of a literal gimmick. As you've said, there are people who are going to be okay with it, and that's fine, but that doesn't mean that those who aren't happy with the decision should sit back and say nothing at all. For one this is a forum, we can be as vocal as we wish, and on top of that, suffering in silence isn't the way to help the community grow. Having opinions isn't supposed to simply be divisive, and I don't think this is one that is controversial. Game Freak has been slowly dropping the ball for years, and it's getting worse. Once we start conforming in favor of just going with the flow, we lose our chance to make sure we get actually finished games with completed content. Our voices should matter.
@johnvboy Sometimes the fans know the core audience better than the developers. You don't always need to go so far outside of the box to find success. Just look back at all the previous mechanics that everyone loved. I can't believe that the first game on the switch wouldn't have the processing power to house all current Pokemon, but the 3ds could. I'm sure everyone would agree that the 3ds was lower tier hardware, but yet, all 800+ Pokemon was always available within the games. Sure down the line I can see there being too many, but I doubt another 50 or so Pokemon added into the game is pushing the hardware to the max. Of course fans would be mad, each Pokemon had it's place within the game. Heck, the whole literal point of the game is to catch them all! It's not an extreme reaction to feel slighted.
I can get why people would be upset over this. When you consider fan made projects that incorporated different design ideas that work for the series, it's surprising that Gamefreak would think removal of Pokemon in lay of a new gimmick was the right way to go. Keep what works and improve on what doesn't. Go over series best and reincorporate that into the game. Instead we lose some troops, and are expected to be ok with it for the new game play mechanics that probably won't be there come the next generation. I'm definitely not as hyped as I could have been. Just give me an iincreased difficulty function like random trainers with six Pokemon or something. Lol
Aside from bait for fish (virtual fishing is already usually tedious enough without bait being neccessary) I love everything about this game! It's going to be amazing and well worth the delayed wait.
