Ever Oasis is shaping up to be an intriguing release on the 3DS - developed by Grezzo (a talented and reliable studio with credits including the Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask 3D re-releases) it is making positive impressions ahead of its 23rd June release. We recently gave it a whirl and were impressed by the "cute RPG with excellent combat mechanics"
Nintendo has released an overview trailer to give a further taste of the story and setting, which may help persuade a few more 3DS gamers currently on the fence about this one's potential.
If you just want some raw gameplay footage, check out the video below:
Are you interested by this Grezzo RPG, or do you still need a bit more persuasion ahead of its release? Let us know in the comments.

It looks really good! I think I will pick this one up when it comes out.
Still loving what I see! The only thing is now I cannot wait for it to release!
Wonder how many blocks up it will take to download. My 3DS is out of room.
I'm gonna sink sooo many hours into this game!
Characters can be Switced much like FF XII.
Or... it looks much like Kingdom Hearts + Character Switch from FF XII.
@Zach777
Pssst... buy the physical retail then.
Problem solved.
@Anti-Matter
Whaaaaaa? There's an option like that?!?!!!!!@&$)((:!;&,&@@-
This looks fun. I've been getting my daughter into RPGs and this looks like a good one for her.
I'm so excited for this.
Dang, why does this have to look so good... I've gotta put money down for college and save up for a Switch during the summer, not buy more RPGs.
@Zach777
Ever Oasis will be released on BOTH Retail & digital download version.
So, why so Shocked ?
There is nothing I love more than a good RPG, but am I the only one that is sick of the super-deformed, chibi, childish-looking art style that EVERY 3DS RPG uses nowadays? Where are games that look like Final Fantasy 8 or even Tales of the Abyss on 3DS? I can handle the chibi art style to a certain degree but it's sooooo overused now I automatically don't take the game seriously. Give me an art style and storyline like Vagrant Story or classic FF games and I'll be happy.
Looks great
This game is looking better and better. Shame it couldn't have been a Switch title. Now I'm going to have to dust off my 3DS to play it and strain my eyes against the grainy resolution.
If I didn't have a switch I probably would be interested but not anymore
Sigh. This looks so good.
blows dust from 3ds systems
Come on old soldier. For old time's sake huh?
Looks very interesting. Think I'll wait on reviews though and I'll be busy with ARMS anyway.
I'd definitely rather get this than that Pikmin game though
As good as this game looks the reality is that I may not have time for another epic rpg right now or anytime soon. Currently I have been rocking Dragon Quest 7 on my 3DS and considering how long that game is known to be it will be quite awhile before I will be able to finish it. Still have to get Bravely Second and Dragon Quest 8 at some point too! 3DS has no shortage of fun rpgs that's for sure.
@invictus4000
You don't really like some Chibi style ?
What do you think about my Avatar ?
My Chibi Boxer in Super Deformed style is so cute.
E10+ JRPG looks great with Chibi style.
There is Nothing Wrong with Chibi / Childish looking for JRPG.
Miitopia 3DS, Fantasy Life 3DS, The Snack World 3DS, Final Fantasy 3 NDS, Final Fantasy 4 NDS, World of Final Fantasy PS4, Chocobo Dungeon 2 PS1, Portal Knights PS4, etc are Examples of Chibi form RPG games.
Looks good but I just can't really play my 3ds with my switch right in front of me...
It's looking great, but I'm not sure that I'll pick it up. I've got a little bit of a backlog problem at the moment.
Looks great. It's a shame they used the lady from the workplace safety videos to narrate their promotional material.
I won't pick it up just yet. I've still got Dragon Quest 7 and 8 and Bravely Default and Second to play through in addition to Devil Survivor Overclocked and SMT IV:A.
@invictus4000 Corners sometimes have to be cut to allow for other things like more detailed backgrounds and more content.
I'm sure, if they wanted to, they could have made them way more detailed and normal looking but then the style of the game would have changed and there's no telling what would have suffered in the process.
@Anti-Matter I'm pretty sure that @zach777 's comment was sarcasm. 🤣
@abbyhitter I reckon that's about 500 hours to complete these, so you've got a long way ahead of you, hahahaha
I have been waiting a whole year for this game to come out, well I know it's not quite a year since it's not E3 yet. I will be getting this day 1 and will definitely be playing it as soon as I get it.
I hadn't paid any attention to this before, but this summer I'll probably still be holding off on getting a Switch so I may be looking for something to play on 3DS, and this looks great
@Ryu_Niiyama One last time old buddy. Seems like a good game to go out on.
Game looks epic!
I just resent having to play it on 3DS instead of Switch. But that's ok, that's kinda why I own a 3DS, after all... to play the games it nets.
This is the last game I'm looking forward on the 3DS. After this is released, I guess there's nothing more for me (unless the superstar saga remake is true)
can't wait for it :Q
incoming masterpiece !
Looks good but sadly my 3ds resolutoin does not these days. Getting harder and harder to play thise grainy graphics and jaggy wobbly lines. Im also tired of the chibi art style myself its really not cute and fun for me but weird and deformed.
I prefer the chibi art style, it's cute and why I like rpg's and jrpgs
This is looking really awesome. I wish they where doing a special edition.
So...the fighting is real time? i was hoping turn based. Hope everyone one enjoys this one. I'll pass on it.
I'm still on the fence about this one. Aspects of it look good, but I'm not sure yet if it's for me. We'll have to see come review time.
This game makes me sad. Everything about it sounds great, but it strikes me as another title like Code Name S.T.E.A.M., where Nintendo inexplicably throws a lot of production muscle behind a damn handheld game, like people get invested in those. NO ONE sits down to play a game like this for a few minutes and then gets off a train, idiots. You want to sit down for an hour or several; really get invested. THIS SHOULD BE A CONSOLE GAME, and they shouldn't waste this much effort on a 3DS title. Its baffling and anger-inducing - its not like the Switch COULDN'T use more titles in its first years (especially new IP; your first 2 years with new hardware are the best time to launch those)
It backfired with S.T.E.A.M. big-time, even though that's a good game (it looks like Batman: Brave & the Bold, plays like Valkyria Chronicle, and has a ton of celebrities doing voicework for it. Michael "Worf" Dorn was Henry Irons! WHY DID NINTENDO DO ANY OF THAT FOR A 3DS PRODUCTION!?!). This isn't going to move a lot either. And when someone brings this kind of concept to PC or consoles and hits it big, I'll feel bad for Grezzo. Much like how no one cares about Harvest Moon these days, and Story of Seasons is super niche, but Stardew Valley has sold millions and millions and copies and garnered tons of acclaim. Looking for the right platform for this kind of experience is probably also why Level 5 took Fantasy Life to mobile phones :/
Watch out, Ever Oasis, because there's gorgeous looking games coming up doing everything you're doing - and more - but on platforms people care about. Like Square Enix Collective's Re:Legend, for instance: https://collective.square-enix.com/projects/346/relegend/
Seriously, when Switch owners have to wait months in between releases right now, and they've spent the last 2 years bringing out VERY LITTLE for the Wii U, they need way more productions like this to go to their new platform. NOT THE 3DS. Ever Oasis is very frustrating to watch.... it really bugs me. This looks like a great production wasted on the choice of platform. But nah, its cool. Switch owners get Street Fighter 2 later this month
@TruthfulVoice Uh... The Nintendo Switch is still receiving the bigger IPs this year so I don't see the problem in releasing a new IP on a pretty established system like the 3DS. A lot of people, including me, still play 3DS and hope to get Ever Oasis.
I haven't had much interest in Ever Oasis. I might wait for initial reviews before getting it.
I'm really looking forward to Ever Oasis; can't wait to play it! It's nice to see the 3DS still going strong.
@TruthfulVoice "I don't care about 3DS, so no one else does either!!"
That's basically your comment. Although, I agree that Nintendo should be putting more effort into the Switch, just like they should have with the Wii U.
@TruthfulVoice
Not entirely sure what your point is here. If you're saying that Nintendo should put more effort into the Switch like it should have done for the Wii U, I agree. If you're saying that you think they should do this by abandoning the 3DS, I strongly disagree.
I honestly don't quite know why Code Name S.T.E.A.M. tanked, but can you honestly say it's more unfit for a handheld than a Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest or Shin Megami Tensei title? Those seem to do just fine on the 3DS. Maybe the Japanese audience didn't quite take to the art style? Maybe they figured it was a game for Western audiences? Maybe they didn't like that the game wasn't part of an established franchise? I don't know.
Personally, I use my 3DS to play for both short and long bursts. I take a 55 minute train and 15 minute bus twice every day to get to work, and I can open up my 3DS during either of those moments, maybe depending a little on the game. Just yesterday I was playing Devil Survivor Overclocked on the bus. The game does require some grinding, so I just open up my 3DS, do a quick battle, and close it when I'm done. That's what's so nice about the sleep function. There's plenty of students on my bus, and I've seen quite a few of them playing Pokemon for 15 minutes. Similarly, I find it just as fun to play with my 3DS in bed for 3 hours straight on a cold winter day.
