Swap Fire was an interesting release on the Wii U eShop, giving a unique spin on multiplayer shooter mechanics. It developed a following of loyal fans but struggled to be a commercial success following its arrival in late 2016; developer Midnight Status then made the game free for a time when the Nintendo Switch launched. Less than 500 paid copies had been sold according to a recent update, but there had been over 20,000 downloads when the game was free.
Not long ago the developer told us of its plans to bring a follow-up to Nintendo Switch, but needs to demonstrate to investors that there's interest in the game. As a result the Swap Fire: Season 2 Kickstarter campaign is live, which is only seeking $5000 over a shortened 15 day period. Benefits of this entry are said to include improved visuals and online multiplayer.
Six days in the campaign has raised a little over $1100, with nine days left to hit the target. The idea is to raise the modest amount in a brief campaign, which should then encourage external investors that have expressed interest.
It'll be interesting to see how this campaign develops and whether Swap Fire 2 makes it to Switch. The Wii U original certainly had some smart ideas - would you like to see a follow-up on the Switch?

Well if i read the article right, the first one didn't have online so, to be fair, not surprised it didn't sell too well.
Never played Wii U version, but I would buy this, if the price is right.
28 backers so far kinda sums it up really. Cant see demand for it. Maybee start again with another game
I don't know if it has to do with it not being something people want. I mean sure in some respects obviously, but personally I never even heard of the game until now. It could be they just needed to advertise it better.
Meh, I downloaded it on the Wii U when it was free. Didn't really like it to be honest. Glad I didn't have to pay for it.
I don't think Swap Fire merits a sequel. They should really just try to develop a different IP.
Cool! Two quotes of mine made it into the trailer!
I love this game but I wish they would get rid of the voice acting and character designs. The game modes and mechanics are so much better than the presentation.
I wish they were putting this on Steam instead of Switch. A lot of people (including me) haven't been able to get a Switch yet and this game is niche. Attracting a small portion of a small user base just won't work. Put this on Steam and you can count me in. That way there will be a more substantial number of people playing online.
I backed it. If you've ever played and enjoyed portal you should definitely give this game a chance and back it up.
I'd be down to try this out. Hope it succeeds.
Here's a podcast interview from PSVG with the main dev, Jeremy Alessi, lot of good info here that isn't found on that Kickstarter page.
