Re: New Pokémon Nanoblock Sets Revealed, Garchomp And Kubfu Coming This April

Deku-Scrub

@FroZtedFlakerZz The Pokemon Company handles merchandise and product deals with other companies. Pokemon has been tied up in Mega Construx and Nano Blocks for the past several years, hence why LEGO can’t make any sets based off of it.

It took ages for LEGO to get a hold of the Mario building block toy license too, and considering the route they’ve gone with gameifying all of the sets in the line, I wouldn’t be surprised if they would attempt to do the same with Pokemon.

Re: Nintendo Cancels Splatoon 2 NA Open Livestream, "Free Melee" Believed To Have Played A Part

Deku-Scrub

Some of you are absolutely delusional, holy crap.

Does Nintendo have the right to shut down both the live stream for the Splatoon tournament, as well as the Smash tournament? Yes, of course, however, this is not at all a black and white situation like most of you are making it out to be.

The reason why The Big House was going to use Slippi in the first place, for those unaware, is because it was impossible to do an in-person tournament due to obvious real-world events happening right now. There is nothing illegal inherently about Slippi itself. It does not need Smash in order to operate, although, it was made with Smash in mind. Now obviously, the problem mostly comes down to the use of pirated or ripped copies of Melee being used in conjunction with Slippi for the tournament.

It's worth remembering that Nintendo is not required to send DMCA strikes to anyone that uses their brand in a way that could warrant it. Considering the fact that the tournament is not able to run in-person in the first place this year, this should have been the one time Nintendo made an exception. There's nothing legally wrong with Nintendo striking the tournament, but it sure is freaking lame and a massive let down that they refused to recognize this.

I've seen a lot of people here and elsewhere saying the game should "just die already" too, and I couldn't disagree more. People are free to enjoy whatever game or other types of media they like. Do you all really just stop playing a game after you get your initial fill from the first few weeks, or at the end of the console it belongs to's lifetime? I highly doubt it, especially considering how well Super Mario 3D All-Stars has done, or with how so many of you beg for more Nintendo Switch Online classic games.

I'm constantly seeing people crap all over the smash community too, which I can understand given its history and recent controversies, however, the bad people in the community don't even remotely represent the majority. Part of the problem that comes with properly policing such a community too is that it is entirely grass roots, and doesn't have any sort of support from Nintendo or other brands, which is part of the reason why people are suddenly striking against them with #FreeMelee and the like. You can call them entitled, but I can assure you from my experience, and with the people I have talked to, it is far from it.

Obviously, the Splatoon tournament getting its live stream shut down was damage control on Nintendo's part, and I can't exactly blame them for that, although, it also shows they are completely aware of the situation, but choose to still ignore what is going on. It has come out too that Nintendo has actively shut down competitive Smash events in the past, despite companies ranging from Red Bull and Twitch willing to do most of the work to get them up and running, but Nintendo simply never following through with the deals and talks they were making.

The whole #FreeMelee controversy really stems from Nintendo's refusal for Smash to become a true and relevant eSport. If Nintendo was willing to just support it a little bit, or at the very least not actively shut down tournaments, Smash could potentially become the biggest eSport in the world. But Nintendo doesn't want that, which is also their right, but it isn't exactly very morally right when they constantly string along the community, thinking they're making gains when they're really not.

Re: There's A Super Mario Splatfest Scheduled For Splatoon 2 Next January

Deku-Scrub

I was looking forward to maybe having a shot at grabbing either one of those shirts since I missed out on the Final Splatfest ones last year, but Nintendo of course decided to pull a Nintendo and shadow drop them today.

I hope they make more stock of them at the very least, and maybe even bring back the old Final Splatfest shirts while they’re at it.

Re: It's Official, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Has Been Delayed Until Spring 2021

Deku-Scrub

I’m oddly enough a bit more excited for this game than I was at first. They seemed to have more of the “grunt” scenes than they have had in the past several games, and the voice acting feels like it fits oddly better too. Not to mention the added pod racer, x-wing, and speeder bits look really fun too! Still am going to wait for an inevitable price drop and reviews before I buy though.

Re: Pokémon Unite, An Online Team Battle Game, Revealed For Switch And Mobile

Deku-Scrub

So this is how I get into League...

I’m glad that this isn’t Let’s Go Johto, but this whole presentation was such a letdown. Somehow in about the same time, last week’s presentation was able to show much more content and game reveals, yet as I was watching this one, there really was no variety in what they were showing. It was the same Pokemon, same stage, same mechanics being shown off, which is not a good look for the game itself at all.

Will I try it? Yeah. But making us wait a week for ONLY this was beyond dumb. If anything, they should have had this be the last reveal of last week’s presentation where they could just leave it all off there.

Re: Fortnite Players Are Angry At Epic After Missing Out On The Season Finale

Deku-Scrub

I haven’t played Fortnite in ages, but decided to drop into this for the heck of it. I joined an hour early, but my game crashed mid-match and kicked me out 30 minutes before the event was scheduled to start and would not let me back in to play. From what I can tell online, this seems to have been an issue with a ton of people on every platform.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they purposely limited the number of people online and kicked players out so that they could get these massive stream numbers.

Today, we end his reign of terror. Today, we end the suffering he has caused. Today, we KILL a GOD. Zipper T. FLIPPING Bunny has murdered our wildlife, overrun our mineral deposits, and stolen our FREEDOM. But TODAY, that will end my friends. No longer will his eggs reign from our skies like weapons of mass destruction, but we will send our slingshots against him and his tyranny. We will make him cower in fear as we HIT HIM WITH OUR FLIMSY AXES.

Re: Nintendo Responds To Cancellation Of E3 2020, Says It Will Consider "Various Ways" To Engage With Fans

Deku-Scrub

The one thing I always liked about E3 was that we were GUARANTEED a direct of some sort from Nintendo. But now we have to play the exact same waiting game we are already doing with them right now.

I still totally understand the reason why E3 was cancelled, especially because of the dangers involved with the Coronavirus, but it doesn’t make it suck any less.

Unfortunately, I can’t say I am interested in this game, but I really got to hand it to them for managing to raise this much money so quickly. Heck, I think they’ll easily raise at least a few million by the time this campaign is over, it hasn’t even been 24 hours yet and they have already surpassed their main set of goals and are well on their way to beating these 2 as well.

Re: Mobile Hit Fire Emblem Heroes Introduces A New Subscription-Based Service

Deku-Scrub

These passes that have been getting implemented into Nintendo’s mobile titles lately are pretty gross. I even recently used my free trial in Mario Kart Tour because of how badly I was lagging behind the competition and the difference is almost night and day between having the pass and not having the pass. Now if Nintendo were adding whole new extra modes behind the pass that are entirely separate from the main game, that would be a different story, but the fact of the matter is that they are not, they are taking existing content that was free (Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem) and locking it behind a pay wall.

It’s not like they are hurting for money either, Fire Emblem Heroes has been doing stupidly well compared to Nintendo’s other mobile games. So that makes this move make even less sense since it has the potential to kill a large number of people’s interest in the game since they can’t grind levels anymore without the pass.

Oh yeah, and not to mention how absurdly expensive this is for just one month of the service.

Re: Game Freak "Excited" To See How Pokémon Sword And Shield Players Respond To The Wild Area's Camera

Deku-Scrub

@SlowPokemon Holy crap, that list is absolutely terrible. No GTS, even further limited transferring, textures and models have been proven to have not be polished, and somehow that is only the tip of the iceberg.

What on earth happened here? How is even Gen 6 looking better than SwSh?

I wish the community could somehow coordinate a boycott on the game like with what happened with the Star Wars Battlefront 2 debacle, but I unfortunately doubt it would be possible here... Nintendo and Game Freak clearly don’t give a single care in the world about the outrage either.

Re: There Are "No Plans" To Bring The Full Pokédex To Pokémon Sword And Shield, And Future Games Will Follow Suit

Deku-Scrub

I absolutely hate that it has come to this point, where keeping every single Pokemon in each game is getting more and more unrealistic, but it shocks me that they plan on what they did with Sword and Shield being the norm from now on. I’ve been doing my best to give them a “pass” on Sword and Shield, in hopes that Gen 9 will fix the National Dex issue, but this statement outside of anything else has really made me feel sick.

I actually don’t know if I will pick up the games now, or if I do, I am surely not going to feel as excited. Keeping Pokemon hostage in Home is terrible, and the only way I can even forgive them a little bit for doing that to us is if they made Home free, which they obviously won’t.
