Re: Toys R Us Is Closing All Of Its US And UK Stores

Deku-Scrub

I'm seeing a lot of people remininse their old TRU memories as a child, or heck, even as an adult, but I've never had an "amazing expierience" at TRU. Maybe I rarely went during their "glory days", or heck never went at all, but TRU was never something I was amazed by. My local store was really dirty all the time, and the prices were always significantly marked up compared to other places, if that never bothered you all as kids, that's perfectly alright, but as a kid and having barely any money, I would rather spend my money in a place where I could have the best chance at getting a good deal.

I still feel bad for all those workers, and I hope they'll all be able to get new jobs soon.

Re: The Games Industry Reacts To The White House's Violent Games Showreel

@Crono1973 I wasn’t trying to make my post sound like that, although if that is how it came off as, that was not what I meant.

Really what I meant was that video games don’t cause violent behavior, nearly all people who play video games that contain violence aren’t crazy maniacs that are planning to go on a real life killing rampage. I did mention that parents should be responsible for what their kids play, but in a way that is still true, I just don’t think kids will act out in violent ways if exposed to violent games. Violent games don’t cause violence essentially no matter what age.

Re: The Games Industry Reacts To The White House's Violent Games Showreel

When it comes to video games, the responsibility I believe for this lies on the parents. I know several teens whose parents allow them to purchase various M rated games that can get pretty violent, and the've been all playing this stuff for years, although, at least most of them don't suffer of any sort of mood changes like people are trying to make it out to be.

I'm just so sick of video games being this scapegoat for people to push their problems onto

@SwitchVogel Same here, I haven't noticed any of these issues listed and I've logged a decent bit of time into this game. I'm glad they're willing to weed out every last bug they can find in the game, no matter how rare or random.

Re: Guide: Pokémon GO Raid Boss List - All Raid Bosses Listed By Tier

Deku-Scrub

I find it a little odd that they made Rayquaza weaker than Groundon and Kyogre, and that Groundon and Kyogre are somehow stronger than Mewtwo, I haven’t done a legendary raid since when it was just Lugia and the bird trio going on back in July-August of last year. Most of the players in my area don’t do raids anymore so I doubt I’ll ever have a shot at getting another legendary again.

Re: Nintendo Switch Sold The Most Consoles In the US This Past January

Deku-Scrub

@BezBot @roboshort I didn't forget Mario Tennis Aces or Octopath Traveller, I personally don't really see them as major sellers but I suppose I was wrong about that thinking about them a little bit more, they could definitely break 1 million units sold on each so I guess I should have included those with Kirby and Labo.

@Slim1999 The year definitely is far from bad or even mediocre so far from the games that have been announced for release this year, but the year in my eyes still lacks a major title, basically a game from one of Nintendo's top IPs like Mario, Zelda, or Pokemon. Perhaps the Switch doesn't necessarily need a game from one of these franchises this year (Yes, Mario Tennis is a thing, I'm talking more 2D and 3D Mario when I refer to Mario), but I still hope there is some sort of mega release of some sort for this year in the vein of Odyssey or Breath of the Wild.

Re: Nintendo Switch Sold The Most Consoles In the US This Past January

Deku-Scrub

I think the Switch can keep up a solid momentum throughout the year, especially with the existence of several evergreen styled titles like Super Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. But I think that unless we get some sort of major game announcement for later this year, that there won't be any major jumps in momentum since all we really know of right now that is for sure coming this year is Kirby, Labo, and a couple Wii U ports really.

Yoshi and FE theoretically should be coming to the Switch this year, but I doubt either of those titles will help give some sort of major sales boost, perhaps FE to a degree, but I doubt people will be flocking to the stores to buy the new Yoshi platformer.

Re: The Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 & 2 Are Headed To Switch On 22nd May

Deku-Scrub

This is absolutely pathetic on Capcom's part, as a few have already stated here, Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 is under 1 GB, and Legacy Collection 2 is about 4 GB, they could easily put both on a single cart but out of pure laziness they didn't.

What's next, for Mega Man 10 you buy a physical copy and you get the first level, and you have to download the rest of them separately? Give me a break.

Re: Random: Funko Is Confused About Whether Or Not It's Licenced To Make Earthbound Merch

Deku-Scrub

I did a little more digging into this situation and turns out it was in fact a mistake, there is a firm with the same name of the game called Earthbound, that handles licensing stuff for movies like Sharknado, etc. Sharknado has had Funko merch in the past, so when that poster was made with all the different companies, they accidentally threw in the Earthbound (SNES) logo rather than this firm that has the rights to Sharknado etc.

Re: Review: Owlboy (Switch eShop)

Deku-Scrub

I'm really glad this game got a great review here, unfortunately for now it'll be going on the Wish List. There are way too many good indies coming out lately that interest me that are coming out at a rate faster than I can buy and play.

Re: Rumour: Another 2D Metroid Has Begun Development

Deku-Scrub

Considering the source is just a NeoGAF member, I don't know the chances of this being fully accurate, but I have few doubts that Nintendo isn't making a new 2D Metroid. It would be amazing if we could get a brand new, original 2D Metroid on Switch with HD graphics. Hoping we see something released in a few years down the road and that this rumored project comes to fruition as an original new game rather than another remake.

Re: Soapbox: Switch's Rampant Success Is Proof Positive That You Should Never Write Off Nintendo

Deku-Scrub

I definitely agree with the point in the article that the Wii U was a necessary step to get to the Switch without the concept of it seeming too foreign to some. The Wii U introduced "Off-TV Play" with most games, so you didn't necessarily need a TV to be at least on to use the Wii U. The Switch simply takes that concept and expands upon it to the point where you can use it anywhere, not just by the TV.

The Switch has breathed new life into various popular games like Skyrim or Doom, although they obviously don't perform quite as well on the go as it would on a Xbox or Playstation, it still brings something new to the experience that didn't really exist before, being able to play wherever you want.

Also, with the last picture of those 2 guys playing Mario Kart in the car, is that some sort of accessory used as simply presenting a concept specifically for the Switch Reveal Trailer, or has this accessory been released before?

Re: Retro-Bit Puts Super Retro Boy On Hold Following Game Boy Trademark Renewal

Deku-Scrub

Assuming Nintendo is actually going to make a classic edition for the Game Boy as opposed to the N64, wouldn’t it make more sense for it not to be a mini, and just a classic version with some games built-in?

Regardless, the design for the Retro Boy looks a little similar, but it probably would be for the best to hold back on releasing it for now and analyze the situation fully and consider all of their options

Re: Soapbox: What The Upcoming Pokémon Switch RPG Can Learn From Recent Pokémon Games

Deku-Scrub

What we need the most quite frankly with a new game, is for us to have a compelling and interesting story that isn't boring to sit through where all you're doing is smashing A trying to get through text boxes. We also need a rival that actually is a jerk like mainly in Gens 1 and 2, it feels so much better to beat them, as opposed to Hau, who when you beat him you're like "now leave me alone now please". I'd personally like a revamped battle system, but the issue with that I could see is how it could screw up competitive Pokemon, but even that has kind of turned into a bit of a mess with it getting over run by hackers so I don't know how much it really matters anymore.

Re: Feature: What We Expect From The Inevitable January 2018 Nintendo Direct

Deku-Scrub

I’m mostly expecting more on Kirby, Yoshi, FE, and potentially a remaster and/or a deluxe version of a Wii U game, preferably Super Mario Maker though. For 3DS perhaps a couple indies, and maybe some minor last project Nintendo is working on.

I want to see Virtual Console there, but it probably won’t be mentioned just yet. I’m expecting to see the Switch Online announcment to be pushed back until sometime later in 2018 as well.

Re: Feature: Video Game Ghosts Of Christmas Past

Deku-Scrub

Probably my most memorable gift was getting my DS lite quite a few years back, I played the heck out of New Super Mario Bros, 64 DS, and various other games. My parents had apparently planned on getting a Wii originally for my family, although this fell through since the system's first holiday in the US was pretty crazy, and it being almost impossible to find. Ironically them getting the DS instead ended up leading to my fascination and potentially addiction with handheld games.

Re: ARMS Version 5.0 Is The Last Content Update The Game Will Recieve

Deku-Scrub

@SomeWriter13 I definitely share your opinion, @NEStalgia has a good point as well with it being a new IP and if the game were to be overrun by fighters, it may seem less appealing. Plus, if an Arms 2 were to ever release, Nintendo needs to be able to have more original characters and not play all their cards at once with the very first game.

Re: ARMS Version 5.0 Is The Last Content Update The Game Will Recieve

Deku-Scrub

I feel like this is actually a pretty odd move, especially with how hard Nintendo was pushing Arms as a competitive game. Since the game at least seemed to be in the same arena as games like Overwatch, where basically the game gets updated every few or couple months with new content, either being a new character, map, etc, I think it's kind of weird that they'd suddenly cut off support for the game.
