Wii U Horror Title Fatal Frame Confirmed For Western Release Later This Year

This was number one on my wishlist of things I was hoping to see (that were remotely realistic). Very happy.

I know a substantial number of people who need this game to get convinced that they want a WiiU. Great to see we actually get it, what with the constant back-and-forth abot localization plans.

now how about an e-shop release of the wii on vc or would that be pushing our dreams too far.

Great news. Seems like survival/horror has experienced a bit of a revival but not many of the games have been as good as classic Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and Outlast in particular was a disappointment. This one we know is good though.

Can't wait for this!

Horror films rarely scare me. Horror games on the other hand usually have me crapping myself. Lone Survivor, ZombiU, Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil 4 are the ones that get me the most. Silent Hill on Wii also deserves special mention. Really looking forward to this game.

I could not be more pleased to see this finally coming out over here. Now they need to localize the Wii games for the Wii U eShop.

However, I was constantly getting annoyed by "coming later this year" as the "release dates" for every damn thing.

But this, oh man, very pleased. Never thought it'd happen.

FINALLY! After all this time, Nintendo smartened up! (actually they probably just realized they had no games for the fall-winter season so threw this one in)

I only played the Wii game Fatal Frame, so I am kind of new to it. But I wouldn't definitely buy this, as long it isn't a terrible game when it gets reviewed of course.

My dreams come true.

I'm actually shocked they're localizing this. Honest truth is I didn't think it would happen.

With Yoshi Wooly World coming this fall and Mario Maker in September, and with Xenoblade X and Star Fox obviously taking holiday spots this year, and with Devil's Third still coming this fall, and now Fatal Frame V, it's looking to be yet another jam packed 2nd half of the year! Seems to be how they like it now- easy on the releases before E3, but after that it's a non-stop barrage of goodies from summer to Christmas.

I think it's probably the latter, which I've long felt is part of why they decided to bring Xenoblade to the States from it's European localization, but what the hell ever, I've wanted them to grow some balls with this franchise for a while, and they finally did.

Looks an awesome game will probably get this when it's released.

This was another surprise. They could release this around Halloween. This console could really use more horror games. I'm gonna say it again....Eternal Darkness HD!

This is like the only good news for the Wii U. The rest of the Nintendo Direct was way too heavily focused on the 3DS.

I am soooooo excited about this. I love scary games and have never tried Fatal Frame.

You know, I pretty much expected this. When it didn't come out of Japan last year, I simply figured that localising might be taking a while, and that it will simply release the next year.

While I don't know the exact reasons, I'm glad my assumptions were correct and that Fatal Frame V will be releasing worldwide. I've been enjoying many Temco Koei games as of late and thus am eager to try this game out.

Was so happy with this little early e3 we had here, this was def one of the highlights of the presentation, been waiting for this, and didn't see it coming, game looks great already watched tons of gameplay of the japanese release this would be great for a halloween release,

I was a bit surprised that this was coming to NA, especially since the last Fatal Frame game stayed in Japan. Fatal Frame V looks pretty intense and scary.

I was so thrilled to hear this today. Being a fan of the series and knowing that Nintendo is part owner of the series, I got really hopeful for this after Spirit Camera (an experimental but underrated gem) came stateside care of NOA. I'm hoping it does well enough to get Nintendo and Tecmo to release a Fatal Frame Quadrilogy for the Wii U complete with updated visuals and controls. Being a survival horror fan, Nintendo just ensured a sale for Fatal Frame V from me at launch.

This is incredibly exciting! Hopefully it does well and convinces Nintendo to bring over more Japan-only games. I'll definitely be supporting and getting this when it releases, looks like fun!

Day one purchase for sure. Please bundle Fatal Frame IV with it. It's no surprise that this game is finally coming over since Hollywood is making a Fatal Frame movie after all and with Nintendo releasing this at the same time the movie came out, that'll sure give the fans something to look for. I'll be all for the game, the movie not so much.

Quite happy about this. It sounds like it's not the best game, certainly not up there with the first two in the series, but it's been so long since I've played one, I feel ready for another.

Some seriously great news. Big fan of the series and love me some survival horror. A genre seriously under served apart from the classic zombiu obviously.

As long as it doesn't have the same "themes"(; as bayonetta than maybe this game has a chance which bayonetta wasn't a bad game just some things in the were not necessary if u know wat im talking about.

@LegendOfSheik I guess you are talking about those famous costumes? You need to finish the game to unlock them, IIRC, so they won't ruin your first playthrough!

YES! This is grand! Now they only need to release 4 on the Eshop and I can have the whole series! I have the first three on PSN. The wii remake would be a great addition to the eshop as well though!

One of the two best moments from last night's Nintendo Direct. And I'm already glad that Nintendo and Koei-Tecmo have listened to us... and Devil's Third creator/director Itagaki was right all along. This Fall, I'll be ready for the ultimate scare that is Fatal Frame on the Wii U.

I'm happy that fans of this outside of Japan can now look forward to this game.

This is the best piece of news of the year. I was complaining and hoping since its Japanese release.

I really hope that we people in the EU have not to wait too long for this. Another Azure Striker Gunvolt is not acceptable for me.

Ahh, this is so great. My fiancé loves Fatal Frame, and I've never played it. Seems a natural fit for da Wuu.
