Re: Gallery: Nintendo Uploads New Mario Movie Posters

DanteSolablood

@Coolmusic That's the same vibe I'm getting from Peach's poster.. sinister. Let's hope this isn't signposting for a big last-third plot twist.

Could just be that Peach shares the same face & eye shape as Megamind.

Edit: Also, the character they've changed the least is Bowser.. yet he's definitely giving out that Jack Black energy.

Re: Splatoon 3 Version 2.0.0 Is Now Available, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

DanteSolablood

The Reefslider's damage has been increased? Not sure why this was needed as its already near-impossible to counter, lets you get through difficult terrain untouched & annihilates groups of opponents, meanwhile the Ultra Stamp gets nothing & can be disarmed by a cold fart. :/

Only thing that could have annoyed me more is if they'd tripled the rate we face "Glowflies". :3

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Sonic Frontiers?

DanteSolablood

@Schizor88 Scores matter as many people consider review scores before buying a game.. if sales tank because of unfair reviews then Sega is less likely to stick to this gameplay style.

Sega has historically found great gameplay styles for Sonic that just needed a little work to turn them from average games into amazing games.. but thrown out all their work for something new. If Frontiers is good, it needs good reviews and sales to make Sega build on it for the next game.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Sonic Frontiers?

DanteSolablood

The problem Sega has is that they find something that works or at least "nearly" works, like Generations or Colors & instead of refining it, building on it and providing what gamers are looking for.. they immediately throw it away for something new.

Frontiers may not be perfect, but it IS a great base to refine, build on and turn into an amazing series in the future. Will Sega do this? Almost certainly not.. but the potential for a successful Sonic series is there.

Re: Team Gear Wins Splatoon 3's Deserted Island Splatfest

DanteSolablood

@RubyCarbuncle 1500p was some of my higher scores when I was warmed up. Probably averaged about 900p for the night.. but spawncamping & hiding in the ink was definitely at insane levels.

You didn't let anyone down, I think the matchmaking was awful & needs some real work before the next splatfest. At one point it was me, three brand new players vs. a team of four Gear Ruler+6s who were obviously in a team chat.

@Rjejr I used to have an ethernet adapter especially for my Switch, it was pretty cheap but my landlord removed the cables from the flat. Though all the connection dropouts during my fest were someone else.

Re: Team Gear Wins Splatoon 3's Deserted Island Splatfest

DanteSolablood

Pretty sure Team Gear was cheating, felt like Team Fun was being DDOS attacked during Splatfest. XD

Joking, well done!

It was a really good Splatfest but the matchmaking was horrific. I was constantly 1500p coverage, 12 splats.. and I was paired with people who couldn't aim at the floor successfully only about 8 wins from 30+ matches.

Re: Sega Releases New Sonic Frontiers Overview Trailer, Take A Look

DanteSolablood

@RainbowGazelle To be fair to Sega, the technology wasn't really there before. Even in the PS3/360/GC era you'd be outside of draw distance inside a few seconds if Sonic moved at any speed.. racing games only keep up as you're moving on a fairly fixed path.

Not a fan of the style myself. The fairly rough looking Sonic is clashing with the realistic looking levels. Makes Sonic look EXTRA low poly.

Re: Nintendo Has Already Started Banning Splatoon 3 Cheaters

DanteSolablood

@iLikeUrAttitude To be honest, patches (e.g. modification of the game code) is against Nintendo's terms of service they've already met nan requirements. As for how much they're cheating.. yes they will get more practice on the game & get an edge. Early promotional copies of the game are a necessary evil so it's understandable that Nintendo allow them so it's in no way a moral equivalent. Plus if someone is playing a modded copy of a game you can't necessarily tell everything that mod is doing so if Nintendo allowed "some" mods, they may as well allow all of them.

I think the three or four matches my friends and I played against invincible instant spawning inklings on Splat2 were enough to make me take several months off.

Re: Kazuki Takahashi, The Creator Of Yu-Gi-Oh!, Has Died

DanteSolablood

Oh bless him, Yu-Gi-Oh! Was a huge part of my life for years & I met a lot of great friends as I went from locals to nationals to working on summer tours, teaching younger kids to play.

While his original focus wasn't on the card game.. when the series was pushed in that direction he ran with it. His legacy lives with all the fun and fond memories current & retured duelist hold in their hearts.

Re: Nintendo Admits It Released A New Model Of The Switch To Fight Piracy

DanteSolablood

@RubyCarbuncle I see where you are coming from, but please remember that Nintendo don't decide on the final punishment, the courts do. Also, consider that its designed to be a warning to other people, so a £50 fine & a week's community service would only lead to an increase in piracy as people weigh it up.

The balance theyre addressing is "a lifetime's free switch games for (insert punishment here)".

Re: Negative Fan Reaction To 'Return To Monkey Island' Made Its Creator 'Sad'

DanteSolablood

So older fans of Monkey Island are upset that it's art style isn't pixilated like the original 80s/90s games? Well lets apply that to Metroid, Mario, Zelda and more.. that mindset just doesn't hold water. The real issue is that because a Monkey Island game doesn't get released as often, the change feels bigger.

Fans should just revel in the fact that they're getting their beloved creator back & have faith in his vision for the game. If they give it support then it'll get another game and the style can adjust over time. Being entitled holes will simply lead to decades of wait.

Re: PSA: Nintendo Switch Sports Local Multiplayer Won't Work On Switch Lite Or In Tabletop Mode

DanteSolablood

@Zulzar People having made the Switch a hybrid was a mistake since long before its a release.. I remember tonnes of long since missing posters claiming it was "Nintendoomed". However, the Switch is ridiculously successful & outselling its competitors when there's stock and its certainly not down to its power.

Even if we call the hybrid aspect of the Switch a gimmick (personally disagree but respect your opinion), it allowed Nintendo to merge its handheld & console divisions for a more regular stream of output and marketing. That in itself makes it worthwhile as lack of output & poor marketing killed the WiiU.

For honesty's it's sake, I mostly play docked but do take my Switch out and about occasionally or play in the kitchen when my rooms hot. Personally appreciate the versatility.

Re: PSA: Nintendo Switch Sports Local Multiplayer Won't Work On Switch Lite Or In Tabletop Mode

DanteSolablood

This is done because people will wave their hands around close to each other, hit each other & then sue Nintendo. Sounds stupid but people have sued Pop Tarts as there isn't enough "real strawberry" in a strawberry Pop Tart. Worst thing is that even if Nintendo wins, in places like America they wouldn't necessarily get their court costs back.. they just lose thousands of dollars per case.

Re: The Plot Synopsis For Sonic Frontiers Has Been Revealed

DanteSolablood

"But he has to go fast" was missing from the synopsis.

Considering that Amy is in the initial trailer & it's being handled by someone from IDW, I'm hoping we see some of the Archie-verse, post SatAM character deprh seep into the storyline rather than plastering the game with new characters.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Splatoon 3, Coming To Switch In 2022

DanteSolablood

@Crockin The trailer already confirmed some possible big differences.
1: Less spawn camping: Spawn is in the sky now & you fly into a range of area. Much harder to lock a team down.

2: The bow weapon at the start of the trailer has rope attached.. possibly a grappleshot? Could mean some crazy stage design.

3: Buddies, trainable assists? Was that robot crab piloted by your buddy animal.

Just a couple of things from a few seconds gameplay.

Re: Review: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game - Complete Edition - Still The Bob-omb 10 Years On

DanteSolablood

Me: Do you promise to be good game?
Game: Yes, I'll be sooo good!
NLife: What are you making this poor game say?

@gcunit Fortunately the RPG elements can help there. If you find yourself struggling with a level you can go back & grind an earlier level to level-up or purchase power-ups in a nearby shop. I played it back on PS3 and the feeling when you finally reach the right level & breakthrough is euphoric.

Re: 1999 Neo Geo Fighter Fatal Fury: First Contact Has Just Surprise-Launched On Switch

DanteSolablood

I absolutely loved this when it came out for my NeoGeo Pocket Color back in the day. It's a brilliant fighter and is different to enough to sit next to SNK Vs Capcom: Match of the Millennium when it's eventually released.

My only problem is that people can't experience it with the original micro-switch joystick from the NGPC.. still never played a handheld with better feeling controls.

Re: The Game Boy Was Nearly a Cheap, Short-Term Project

DanteSolablood

@aros2k It's a little while since that post so I can't exactly defend what I meant at the time.. but considering that even early 3300s had snake, I was probably concentrating on mobile/cell hardware specifically built with gaming in mind.

Early ROMs were fun, but would never really be considered a rival to handheld gaming.. but then neither was the nGage.

Re: Professor Layton Dev Level-5 Has No Plans For Future Games Outside Of Japan, Says Report

DanteSolablood

Wouldn't be surprised if it was partly due to the current administration's attempts to attack anything that doesn't originate from the US. There's a lot less profit for smaller studios to bring things over themselves. Doesn't mean another company couldn't get the rights to translate the games though.

Whatever the troubles, good luck to Level 5, hope to see them back at full power soon.

Re: Two Brand New Doctor Who Games Have Been Revealed For Switch

DanteSolablood

In relation to the games, the reason they're only showing models for "The Edge of Reality" is because it likely looks terrible in motion. Dr Who games have been pretty awful historically & just ride on the license.

As for the show, I love Dr Who and am currently having troubles with it. I disliked Matt Smith as the Doctor but ended up liking his episodes as the writing kept me coming back. Jody is giving me the opposite problem, I think she has potential to be a great Doctor but the writing doesn't back her up. From small interpersonal moments to lore-changing retcons, it feels like someone struggling and throwing everything into the mix. Keep Jodie, change the showrunner.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 1.4.2 Patch Notes - Fixes Dreaming Crash And Multiple Other Bugs

DanteSolablood

@fafonio Apologies if I seemed a bit harsh in my reply earlier, I usually do a second parse to reduce my sass, but was in a bit of a rush.

TBH I can't see your market so it could be that you're correct & the game is behaving oddly.. all I can say is that the only time I really suffered from franerate drop was when I stacked about 40/50 bugs all in one small area waiting for Flick. Any chance of a screenshot?

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 1.4.2 Patch Notes - Fixes Dreaming Crash And Multiple Other Bugs

DanteSolablood

@fafonio Mario Maker has its limits too, but because the game is is much more simplistic technically & visually, the Switch needs to do less work.

There are thousands of players who've worked within the system's limits to make all sorts of wonderful, beautiful and imaginative islands including Crunchy Islands & their amazing maze islands (that feature regularly on YouTube).

Perhaps if you imagination fails at the first limitation, it's your imagination that is mediocre?

Re: Random: Nintendo Tweaks Mario's Nipples

DanteSolablood

Mario's chin actually covers the area that his nipples were on the older model.. they might still be there but we can't see them.

My main concern is who does that second drink belong to? Hairy Luigi-nipplegate is just a few inches to the left!

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Players Discover '4th Level' Glitch Workaround

DanteSolablood

@Mr-Glissando I temporarily had framerate issues with ANCH a while back, but that was due to having a huge number of fish & bugs stored in one area waiting for Flick to arrive (waited a month in the end). Once I'd cleared the area & restarted, my framerate went back to normal.

Obviously if that was the issue you'd have sorted it by yourself already, but that's been my only frame issue in the last 700hrs.
