Autumn really is in full swing right now in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and this latest trailer from Nintendo shows off what you can expect to enjoy throughout this month.
In the bugs and fish department, you'll be able to get your hands on the blowfish, damselfly, and more, and those pesky mushrooms can still be found all over your island. Thankfully, these aren't as annoying as they can be in your garden at home – you can use them to craft particular items, and you might even stumble across a rare mushroom if you're lucky.
If you haven't already, we'd recommending bookmarking our constantly-evolving guide that lists all of the fish and bugs available each month. On that page, we'll remind you when certain critters will be disappearing and let you know when new species arrive – there are quite a few returning this month that you may well need for your collection.
Are you still enjoying island life with Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Has your playtime started to slow down now that the game's been out for more than half a year? Tell us below.

Haven’t played since july outside of the 1st day of every new update. Hope either the mario 35th anniversary update in march or the ACNH 1 year anniversary update in april can suck me back in.
Almost 500 hours since March! I'm slowing down a bit, but new content each month is still drawing me back in. I usually play 10 minutes a day now.
No word on Franklin's harvest festival event?
The last update that I found interesting was the swimming one. Picked up my time at Portia while it was on sale, and that will soak up my time.
I wish Animal Crossing would add some quality of life improvements. Everything feels like it takes way too long to do.
I have a 5 star Island now and I've enjoyed getting there but I have largely lost interest in the game now. It still feels very barebones to me and I do find the crafting element tedious.. Where are Gyroids, Brewsters, Kapp'n, the nightclub, new shops/buildings etc? And I still don't get why we can't visit random dream addresses like the old games. Feels like there's too much of a focus on crafting (which is a tedious process) and designing at the expense of everything else. In a way even the GameCube original had more "life" to it. My villagers don't even make use of most of the places I built and they certainly had more personality in the older games.
Hopefully 2021 will be more interesting since they're unlikely to just want to repeat themselves.
@Wargoose Definitely. They could at least add tools that don't collapse. 🙄 It was so much easier just to potter around, do some fishing etc in the older games.
I haven't played since the week it was released. Been meaning to play, just too many good JRPG's.
Cool, I'm always excited for the Thanksgiving updates
I still don’t have all the fruit in my village so I need to work on that. These updates are nice and all but I want the DJ Club back and a few other store that was in New Leaf.
@Clyde_Radcliffe I agree with you, I love the game & am well over 600 hours.. but it really does feel like its half the size of New Leaf with some crafting tacked on.
Halfway through the Mushroom diys now, once they're bagged I can take a nice long rest.
No Brewster, no play 👎 I cant believe we still don't have the coffee shop. It's such a heartbreak and is honestly a major buzzkill for me. This feels like a slap in the face to longtime fans and actually makes me dislike NH a bit. GIVE US THE ROOST ALREADY!
I tried to get excited for the fall updates, but the magic just isn't there... Especially without Brewster.
Just found out Leaf was selling holly now?
I thought they would save it for the Holiday season.
I really enjoyed it but once I had maxed out my island and paid off the loan there didn't seem like I had anything left to do.
Even fishing and bug catching gets boring once you've maxed out the museum - it would have been much more engaging to have weights and sizes to everything you catch and a scoreboard to compared with the people on your friends list.
What I really want is to have a few more islands, as I would love to theme them around different species without having to scrap everything to start over.
@echoplex Elvis gave me a Christmas jumper in July. 😂
@Clyde_Radcliffe I completely agree with everything you just said. I need there to be more life in my villagers, and more buildings to make/visit.
I got sucked back in for the Halloween update after playing pretty heavily in March and April, and then not picking it up for a while. I hope they continue to expand it. As long as they want to keep putting out content, there will be an audience.
Still playing about 30 minutes every day since launch - almost forgot Saturday as I was busy getting drunk celebrating - but when the day does come when I miss a day the streak will be broken and I'll rarely go back. Just feel like playing 365 straight days now b/c reasons.
Any suggestions on what to do w/ the mushrooms? Just sell them like anything else? I stopped diving b/c I didn't know what to do w/ all of those. Storage still stuck at 1,600 but they keep adding more and more useless junk.
@echoplex his stock varrys based on season, mine was selling holly day 1 of the update.
his 2nd should be random form all his total stock, and the main same every season for everybody.
so if hibiscus is the current one, everybody will have that.
Still play regularly. Over 300 hours so far.
Only about 180 hours in and feel I'm just scratching the surface.
Through all the madness of 2020 this game has kept me losing all hope in humanity.
750 hours in and still playing more than I should each day, have a 5 star island and still changing things, not got all the bugs and fish as yet, and really need to swim more.

after playing my Animal Crossing New Horizons for 460h and counting(playing since 25th of april), i am feeling a bit fastigated by the game, i glad that i playing the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild that my cousin have lent me, i still mad that Nintendo have not give Brewster for us, if in the upcoming Winter update of Animal Crossing New Horizons that release late novembre or in Holiday 2022(Animal Crossing New Horizons final update)Brewster is not there i gonna curse Nintendo so much until i lose my voice and for Arceus sake, please add the QOL improvements we want so much like Bulk Crafting or a shopping cart option in Able Sisters and Nook Cranny.
@NImH let go to Nintendo social media and You Tube Channel, curse they so much like we lost our voice demading Brewster
@rjejr you can craft Furniture with the Mushrooms and give some of you crafted Mushroom themed wrapped in a present to your Villagers(it help increase your Friendship with them and got they photos, ounce your Friendship level with then is very high).
@Giancarlothomaz I can't understand your comment...
@Giancarlothomaz Is THAT why a few villagers gave me photos but the others didn't? Thanks for that. I think I saw a mushroom recipe but haven't gotten around to crafting it yet. I'm still trying to figure out what to do w/ an island filled with Halloween decorations and a huge pumpkin patch?
Might not make my 1 year of daily play, may be time to quit. But I am going to play now.
I still wish we had something like town projects and other longer term goals. And more house upgrades. I would love to have larger rooms like in New Leaf.
Of course there is always the option to level my whole island and recreate it from the ground up, but that sounds like more work than fun right now, and I quite like my little island paradise as it is, but maybe someday.
@Clyde_Radcliffe
I definitely agree with what you're saying.
I'm saying this as someone who's a big fan of the original GC game (it's my favorite in the series), and the series in general. I stopped playing NH after around 15 hours, because the "spirit" (or "life") from previous AC games felt absent to me in NH, and I also was pretty hyped for NH before and right after it released. Heck, I would even say I was getting more enjoyment out of Pocket Camp, than I was with NH.
I feel like the villagers have started to gain some of their personality back.
I have over 1100 hrs in this game. I took a break but came back for the updates and it was fun to decorate for fall and Halloween. Now just wait for next update.
I miss autum (Southern hemisphere island here) spring is sooo boring. Guess I will have to put a Lake of Tears record to improve my mood.
I used to play it every day since launch, but now it seems I barely touch it once a week. I've just found it so frustrating how the shop only cycles through a few items of little to no variety (I guess to encourage visiting other islands, but I like to keep my games single player).
That, and how my usual objective of collecting DIY recipes always ends up with me getting the same ones over and over again without even giving me the option when a villager gives me one. And I've given up trying to find Celeste every month. The zodiac furniture may be pretty, but RNG has made it far too much of a hassle.
I've absolutely slowed down. There's just not much left to do. I still hop on occasionally to collect seasonal items and tweak my island a bit but I've pretty much done everything.
I'm just missing a few things like the monthly celestial stuff and enough rusty parts to build the robot.
I love this game and I'd instantly buy a big paid DLC expansion that added a bunch more content. Like a big farming expansion, or really anything BIG. I want more goals to work toward like I had with building my island. Or let me add a 3rd floor to my house or maybe find some way to make our islands BIGGER.
All I really want from this game is MORE.
If anything I've finally gone over into the camp of really disliking the whole "one save file per Switch" thing. I was open to the idea initially - but the fact that we can't have a second save file is really really frustrating. I put hundreds of hours into my island, I don't ever want to delete it. And yet I'd love to start over again too. But I am NOT buying another Switch just for that.
ok so leaves are gonna float around thats cool. too bad theyre probably gonna skip out on harvest festival this year with no mention of it, we missed out on april fools too
500hr in, I think there is still a lot to do in the game. Have you got all the furniture, clothing & DIYs?? There is just too much to collect. I am collecting fishes and bugs (need 3 each) to make trophies from CJ & Flick. It is quite a challenge task due to some just very hard to get (golden bug & trout, barreleye etc.) Also Redd often sell different variety of the items you may already have (buy those even it cost a little more if you are into collecting). DIY is a pain to collect, but it feels really good if you got them all (i got all the seasonal ones so far...even the recent mushroom ones, now waiting for the maple leaf ones) But yes, Celeste ones are most trouble for me as well....
@NImH is for everyone to go to Nintendo social media and You Tube Channel and demand to Nintendo to bring Brewster already in the game.
Screw RNG. My sister and I have been playing everyday getting at least three balloons a day and neither of us have got a single mushroom DIY recipe!
...no Franklin? Hmmm
@Musharna You're right but I thought holly, as a holiday symbol, would not be sold before the late-November update.
@Chowdaire I have spares of all the DIYs if you guys want them. Not sure if sharing friend codes is allowed here though.
I have 1200 + hours. I have a 5 star island, a fully completed museum (sea creatures, art, bugs, fish and fossils), I also have all my dreamies. Living on an island would be exactly how you would think it would be. It get boring being in the same place after a certain amount of time. They really need to make some big changes that will draw everyone back in. This game is one of the biggest selling games by Nintendo. i really hope they don't mess this up, cuz waiting a month for an update that only has 1 or 2 little things is honestly not worth the wait. They need to do something huge or I'm sorry to say this but people will get burnt out just like how I did. It's sad cuz I really love this game and they have so much potential on what they can become but they just arent taking that leap there should be mini games, more places to visit on your island, or take a trip to an island that's like a city. Also having the villagers have a bigger role is very important. I am tired of hearing raymond and judy say the same thing every single day! Please Nintendo please do better, I am begging you! You guys had so much in your older games, so what happened to this one? why does this game have so much less.
