If you're still unsure about whether or not to pick up Sonic Frontiers this November, then check out this new overview trailer from Sega.
It's perhaps the most comprehensive one yet, as short as it is. It's planned to be the first of a series of spotlight trailers - providing a look at the high-speed and open-zone gameplay in Frontiers. This includes an "exhilarating" combat system, intriguing puzzles, the Cyber Space stages and more.
Here's a bit of additional information from the PR, and the full video is above:
"In Sonic’s newest adventure, he’s headed to the Starfall Islands in search of Chaos Emeralds with Amy and Tails when trouble strikes and they are all sucked into a strange, digital world called Cyber Space. Sonic soon escapes and finds himself on an ancient, mysterious island where he must face sinister enemies and uncover the truth of the Starfall Islands while searching for his lost friends."
This trailer follows on from last week's story trailer which was aired at Gamescom's Opening Night Live event. You can learn more in our previous article here on Nintendo Life.

(Saw a high speed running again from the trailer) 😦
Now I become more unsure to pick the game as I have bad experience from Sonic Generations PS3 and Sonic Lost World 3DS, like I cannot even play Sonic games. 😩
Looking great!
I’m so freaking hyped for this game! I cannot wait!
It’s also crazy how much better then game looks. It looked like a tech demo when we first saw it, but man it looks really good, just wish they would have showed gameplay like this from the start.
This is really how the game should have been introduced to the world.
I still have serious doubts about the final product, but this trailer does a lot to combat the negative impression the first few reveals created for me
Still not 100% sold. If Sega didn't build a reputation of average mediocre Sonic games through the years, I would be all for this. We'll see if this finally is a Sonic game worth every penny.
Looks much better, I'm more confident that this game would be better than Sonic Forces.
@Anti-Matter Sonic’s speed and controls are customizable, so you don’t have to go too fast if you don’t want to!
@Serpenterror Tbh I don’t think we could get anything worse, but sega has proven me wrong before Lmao.
Running around an open-world using Sonic's speed makes so much sense, I'm surprised it's taken them this long to do it. Looks like a laugh! I'm looking forward to playing!
Open zones still look terrible, empty, and disconnected.
Combat still looks simplistic and unappealing.
Cyberspace levels actually looks like what the game should have been.
Oh well, hopefully it is actually better than their marketing has made it look.
To me, I am excited for this and cannot wait. I like the Cyloop idea as you can keep running which doubles as an attack at the same time. Not too sure about the other attacks but to be fair I think Unleashed was an under rated game which had good ideas but wasn't executed very well. Hoping this is going to get it right.
Yes the overworld looks a bit sparse, but if you are running at speed you don't want too many enemies hindering you and slowing you down.
Looking like a winning formula in my opinion, I will buy this because I always buy sonic games when they come out, it's a guilty pleasure of mine
Looking way better, but still think the "open" area will be disappointing. I wish they went all for the small areas, they look awesome!
I'm still very unsure about how it will run on switch, but as always I'll follow this one with interest when it releases
I really want to get it on Switch, but feel like this will be a game that lives and dies on graphical performance and frame rate pacing. PS5 might be the way to go.
not buying, sterile realistic graphics w no personality. yawn
Looking good, I can’t wait.
Much better than the previous sneek&peeks, It looks and sounds more like a Sonic game than a Zelda now
Progression being gated by gears, vault keys, chaos emeralds and separate statfall islands makes me a bit suspicious.
Is this really going to be an open world game? Or it just going to be a few big levels with cyberspace as sub-levels?
@Dr_Lugae I mean in its defense the dude keeps calling them open zone instead of open world as he doesn’t really think it fits.
I have it purchased on Steam. Game looks really promising.
@Snatcher Well. There was the WiiU exclusive, not Lost World, the other one that really stank, Sonic Boom or something. It can always get worse.
woowwww. Looks super awesome!!
This could be the open world game I'm looking for. We'll see. I didn't connect with Breath of the Wild so I'm really hoping I like the way Sonic moves. BUT I am still waiting for a Kirby open world game
Looks promising… (tempered optimism). I do think it needs a little more colour, vibrancy and variation in its look & gameplay so far though.
… Wun can only hope.
Up Next… Open-World:
… Wun can only hope.
Parts of this look good and parts of it look mediocre. I’m hopeful for the best as I’m a huge Sonic and Sega fan.
@RainbowGazelle To be fair to Sega, the technology wasn't really there before. Even in the PS3/360/GC era you'd be outside of draw distance inside a few seconds if Sonic moved at any speed.. racing games only keep up as you're moving on a fairly fixed path.
Not a fan of the style myself. The fairly rough looking Sonic is clashing with the realistic looking levels. Makes Sonic look EXTRA low poly.
