Well, the pattern if spacing out fun community days with boring ones continues.. hope the babies appreciate the pain we're put through!
Not managed to raid a Heatran yet, just had my best PoGo friend post me a pick of her 100%. Can't wait! It's not the best, but it's NOT Cresellia or Lugia/Ho-oh for the 5th time.
Well, PvP has been a complete bust for me. Not only is actual competition scarce.. but item awards are ridiculously poorly handled. I've played one friend 20/30 times, they've won 8 Sinnoh Stones (most by losing) and I've got nothing.
I still love the game, but does seem like the RNG is weighted heavily for/against certain trainers.
@LegendOfPokemon I agree, but it seems Nintendo are thinking about us Switch owners & our tiny inbuilt memory. A replay will only take a few bits, video capture could take a few megs or gigs depend8ng on length.
Interesting, technically we get four moves, but one of them is always Protect? This could be quite fun... though it does make it tough to choose whether to build Pokémon as a Raider or Battles.
Surely most Switch cases carry enough space for at least 10 games? Add in digital games on the Switch itself & an extra wallet seems a little redundant.
Buy your loved one something more useful like an eShop voucher!
@cleveland124 Indeed, though historically Nintendo/Gamefreak has never required an online account.. only access to the internet so the download would have to be tied to the ID of the physical cartridge & then store that information effectively forever as you can still move new pokémon from Pokémon Ruby (2002) into the current games.
As an aside, as someone that was very young prior to the internet... I remember people being jerks then too.
@cleveland124 That's okay, it seems most people that aren't long time Pokémon players don't understand about the one-time download codes either, but they've been around nearly a decade and they're still around today... I believe they're doing one for Ho-oh and Lugia for Sun/Moon at the moment.
I believe the main reason that Nintendo/Gamefreak lock the codes to a single use is to prevent people resetting for special legendary pokémon (so everyone in the world has perfect ones/game balance) and to make people trade - they've always been about making the game community focussed.
I agree I wouldn't want to see this spread to other companies (or other games owned by Nintendo like Smash Brothers). I think it's only unique to Pokémon because of the pokémons randomised stats. As for the price of the ball... I'd have wanted it cheaper to compete with the other accessories, but indeed it's subjective.
@cleveland124 Just because this needs reiterating, single-use pokémon download codes have existed since at least Pokémon Black & White back in 2011... you could only us them once & then NEVER again, even if you deleted your game. If you've never downloaded DLC that you could not redownload later, welcome to Pokémon.
However, the PRICE of the download is another question... personally I think Nintendo should have also announced that Mew could be obtained free later on via online downloads. I would still have bought the PBP anyway. The Pokéball Plus is actually pretty decent value as a controller/Pokémon Go accessory. It's only expensive if you're only buying it for the Mew.
Gotcha Ranger - £42, does not work as a controller on your Switch.
Joycon £42 - does not work as a Go Plus/Gotcha
Pokeball Plus - £45 does both
@c2017nlifemedia @Vitelus You could equally ask how many of the negative 0/0 reviews were written by long time players on the day of release - how many of them have actually played the game or gave it a fair chance? Plus when a game is getting so much negative response prior to release, isn't it only natural for critics enjoying a game to focus on the positive?
I've played Pokémon since RBY (including all mainline games, Ranger, Channel etc.), am a dedicated lv40 Pokémon Go player & played the TCG back in my Yu-Gi-Oh! days... and I think Lets Go is fun but flawed. It definitely could have done with a "hard mode" for long time players & the throwing mechanic needs more refining. Personally I'd give Let's Go a high 7/10.
It's DEFINITELY better than the dumpster fire that was Colosseum on the Gamecube & that has a userscore of 7.8 on Metacritic. -facepalm-
@Medic_alert You're thinking of the games themselves. When you download a Pokémon to your game from a download code it's a single use and has been for years.
@LUIGITORNADO Maybe there is but the instructions with it are that terrible. I wonder if anyone has tried leaving one in a freezer?
@Damo That's just what I was thinking. Where Let's Go is aimed partially at Pokémon Go players with large player communities, I could imagine one Pokéball Plus sharing out 10-15 Mews.
While it is disheartening to see Nintendo being quite so ruthless when it comes to selling such a fun toy... this is not the first time we've had one-time Pokémon we could not reset. Pokémon from live events, download codes or online downloads (with the ribbons that prevent you from trading?)
Personally I got my Pokéball Plus for Pokémon Go & as a nice gimmick, the Mew was a bonus. If you were planning on sharing Mews out like the Milky Bar Kid, then it pays to research prior to purchase.
@Kalmaro I think that's one of the problems, it might not seem like something that could cause problems yet it is directly analogous to the issues of "fake news" spreading around the world... YEC directly teaches that if you believe in something, all evidence contrary is a lie/fake & it's now being taught directly to increasing numbers of children.
I'd also suggest you research the connections between YEC/fundamental Christian connections with the Anti-Vaccination movement which is leading a large spike in preventable childhood deaths. Invalidating science in order to support your views does have serious side effects whether you're willing to consider them or not.
Anyway, I apologise - I will simply shut up as I do NOT want to turn this into a long debate. Let's leave it at... we disagree.
@RupeeClock @HobbitGamer Go Hub also confirms that Gengar will be learning Lick, a fast move that is on par if not better than Shadow Claw... Gengar's best legacy move. While Psychic is indeed garbage on Gengar, just give it a Charge TM & your Lick, Shadow Ball Gengar will be at the top of it's game.
@Kalmaro Does someone/something necessarily need to be causing trouble to be detrimental to society in the long term? The act of deliberately undermining both science & historical research for the benefit of religious literalism is worrying in it's own right.. especially considering that Young Earth Creationist (YEC) groups such as AiM have made massive inroads into homeschooling & educational organisations around the globe. However.. this IS definitely a discussion for another format!
Interesting idea, looks like something my parents would have pushed on me as a child.. probably would have hated it.
@Kalmaro While not wanting to open a debate, personally I believe religion doesn't need wars to be dangerous - religion teaches people to alter their reality to fit their faith, even when good sense would show the other way around to be sensible. The meteoric rise of Young Earth Creationists does have me worried for humanity.
This event should be fun to do with my raid-friends.. we can all zip around in a car & smash Gengars, looking to find a 100%. However, I'm not too happy with a non-Legendary getting the "day" treatment. It feels too much like Niantic purely trying to wring even more premium pass money out of the hardcore players.
@KayFiOS Gengar is one of the best counters against psychic at the moment, even without it's legacy move (Shadow Claw). I'm currently farming stardust to finish powering up my full team of six.
@Desrever I suppose the only real benefit of shiny Gengar is that it's one of the best shiny mega-forms as of Gen 7... it's a long way away, but work picking up at least one decent shiny for.
I started catching mine about 4:30pm (GMT) yesterday - a little disappointed with Gen 4 being released in waves considering how small Gen 4 is... especially considering regionals.
@marandahir I've not heard of this issue, but one of the best tips I can give you to resolve issues with PoGo is to uninstall, resinstall & clear the caché, oh and make sure your location settings isn't set to "device only".
@Rayquaza2510 Meh, I personally found the NeoGeo Pocket Color to be one of the most premium feeling handhelds. You're correct that the n3DS has a better feel to it, but take into consideration that the n3DS is a redesign of a redesign of a re-used concept... if Nintendo couldn't get the two screen clamshell down after 11 years I'd have been surprised.
Can't say I was impressed by the PSVita, the screen does look lovely but the rear mounted touchpad concept was just silly.
I haven't played AC Pocket Camp in what must be 6 months? I gave it another go a few weeks back but it still seemed far too shallow. It's a shame... I kind of feel it's tarnishing my love of Animal Crossing.
I still rock Isabelle on Mario Kart 8 DX though, she's my Woofu. <3
@Baker1000 Actually, Nintendo Life have been updating articles instead of creating new ones, you can see that in the Raid Boss list. Unfortunately, this is leading to worse issues where old information is being left in despite is being incorrect... for example Mewtwo now being included in the Tier 5 raids, but still at 49,000 CP.
@Dalarrun @ReaderRagfish I'm pretty sure all the strategy rests in shouting "Go Dragoon!" and then looking angry. I remember playing Beyblades with my little brother when we were young... I only really liked the ones with the silly gimmicks like the pop-out spring or magnets.
Awesome list, I've been saving for a while now... I've been excited about Weavile since Sneasel was first released. GREAT physical attacker in the mainline.
@KingBowser86 Meh, since taking up PoGo I lost about 7st (98lbs)along with a change in diet & have a lot more energy. It all depends on the individual.
@Octane @RupeeClock If I had to say why certain pokémon haven't been released like Smeargle, I'd say it's because it has a very battle orientated effect.. much like Kecleon & Shedinja. PoGo will need quite a big shake up to provide a fun PvP experience... if PvP just comes down to dodge, fast/charge attack people will be VERY dissapointed.
Of course Niantic could just be waiting out the PvP update to force in new evolution items & mechanics rather than drip-feeding them & spreading out the bugs. Niantic is quite well know for dumping a lot of changes at once & then spending a lot of time fire-fighting bugs.
Awesome, I was waiting for Nintendo Life to drop this news when it dropped yesterday. It's awesome news, been saving up my Murkrow, Ralts, Sneasel, Rhydon, Electabuzz, Magmar, Dusclops & Magnamite candy for months now.
@Desrever I know a lot of people that dropped when Gen 3 was released & I can understand that. Personally I loved Ruby & Sapphirel... it's my favourite Gen by far. Plus they've not dropped older Pokémon since.. I still have my Ruby/Sapphire pokémon in my Sun/Moon game.
@RupeeClock It seems the evolved form is confirmed to be coming to Pokémon Go- a datamine of the new 0123.1apk have found the Pokémon number 891 and 892... an evolution.
@LexKitteh I think you have a good point, Gamefreak do have the money & ability to do better... which personally leads me to think that this is a stylistic choice.
Pokémon Let's Go Pickachu & Eeeve are both introductory games meant to pull in new players & existing players alike so I can understanding Gamefreak choosing a more simple, classic look for their characters. The real test is the Gen 8 next year when Gamefreak MUST show exactly what it can bring to Pokémon with 100% of their effort.
Wait... this doesn't look THAT much better than the original Onimusha. I'd pay for a new Onimusha or maybe a version with new levels & content, but the work done on this game looks pretty poor. The Switch is capable of SO much more than what we can see in this clip.
My question is why does Birdo shoot eggs from it's face?? Plus, how does it swallow with that fixed shape mouth??? OMG!! What if something gets stuck in it's mouth?? Is it a mouth or a face-mounted bumhole????
I was actually discussing how Nintendo designed the Switch to be easy to design for recently when someone tried comparing the Switch to the WiiU (because people sometimes don't know what they're talking about).
One of the big complaints about the WiiU was how difficult it was to work on & this caused developers to shy away from the hardware. The main issue the Switch is facing now is how late into the generation cycle it came, meaning devs had not started designing for the Switch in time for launch & the stigma that the WiiU left on the dev community.
Devs praising the Switch for how easy it is to work with is great news & if Nintendo can keep this up with future hardware they can certainly redeem a damaged reputation and bring back a lot of those AAA developers who are still cautious releasing on Nintendo platforms.
@Morgan19 Haha, I think that says more about how your mind works than the quality of the design. Personally I see something which is obviously designed to be an electrical cable.
A good test is this... You could say you see a lot of shocked faces or you could see electrical plugs. One is reality, one is something you're reading into the image.
Well, this pretty much all conforms to expectations... we knew the "new" Pokémon would come in the mystery box & this confirms it. The only real new information is that the mystery box can be used multiple times.
@RupeeClock I'd heard the Zygard theory before & the second video on this page confirms it with the group of Meltan seemingly fusing into a new form (hidden in shadow).
@Morgan19 Well, having some experience of my own male physiology, I would be worried if my genitals were on the back of my body.
I'm glad to hear that you play yourself, while it wouldn't necessary change the (excellent) quality of your reporting on Pokémon Go, I personally find it reassuring. I'm now tempted to have an "achievement off" with our badges... but I'm sure you have things to do.
@Euler Oh, the true 150 Pokémon? So that's Gen 3 then. Good to hear.
Finally, there have been so many hints & opportunities for Niantic to drop Gen 4 most of us will probably just explode from the relief rather than excitement. The Kanto event was obviously a thinly veiled way of newer players getting their Gen 1 before it becomes sidelined for the new 'mon.
@AxeltheBuizel I'm sure you could use a Buizel in Let's Go.. the question is should you use a Buizel.
@ryancraddock Should we be expecting a cheeky little article on which Pokémon's candy to emergency stockpile? Also wondering if you play yourself?
@RadioHedgeFund I'm already bored with Bidoof & it's not even released yet.
@vitalemrecords @jhewitt3476 The original design of the Power Glove did work quite well, unfortunately it would have cost quite a lot of money... in the end pretty much all of the components of the glove were replaced with cheaper, less functional versions.
Blame Mattel for cost-cutting & VR for being a short term fad for the Power Gloves failure.
Well, I took a couple of weeks break from Splatoon 2 & my skills have all evaporated, so I'm practicing my rearend off... between catching Mewtwos on Pokémon Go.

Re: New Trailers Reveal How To Catch The Mythical Pokémon Meltan And Tease A New Evolution

Re: The Nintendo UK Store Is Celebrating Its 5th Birthday With A Lovely Switch Giveaway
Good luck everyone! My brother is desperate for a Switch for Christmas.. and with my finances this is the only way he's getting one.
Re: New Trailers Reveal How To Catch The Mythical Pokémon Meltan And Tease A New Evolution
Re: Generation 4 Pokémon Officially Confirmed For Pokémon GO, Coming "Soon"
@ryancraddock Thanks for your reply!
Re: Nintendo Shares First Details, Release Date And Screenshots Of Fitness Boxing, A Switch Exclusive
I wonder if I could buy this, spend a couple of hours watching the pretty avatar lady jump around & then sell it on? Probably cheaper than pron.
Re: Generation 4 Pokémon Officially Confirmed For Pokémon GO, Coming "Soon"
Re: The Power Glove Was "Way Ahead Of Its Time" According To One Of The Men Behind It
@vitalemrecords @jhewitt3476 The original design of the Power Glove did work quite well, unfortunately it would have cost quite a lot of money... in the end pretty much all of the components of the glove were replaced with cheaper, less functional versions.
Blame Mattel for cost-cutting & VR for being a short term fad for the Power Gloves failure.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 6th)
Well, I took a couple of weeks break from Splatoon 2 & my skills have all evaporated, so I'm practicing my rearend off... between catching Mewtwos on Pokémon Go.
Re: Capcom Confirms That Monster Hunter's Live-Action Movie Adaptation Is Definitely Going Ahead
Well, the only way this could be worse is if this was directed by Uwe Boll...
"News just in, Paul W.S. Anderson is actually producing the movie & Uwe Boll directs.."
