It was rumoured earlier this year, but today's E3 2018 Nintendo Direct confirmed what we all wanted to hear - Dragon Ball FighterZ is coming to Switch.
The critically-acclaimed brawler made quite an impression on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, and now it's the turn of Nintendo fans to see what the fuss is all about. Amazingly, Nintendo didn't give the game much screen time and crammed the announcement in amongst a load of other titles.
Here's some PR:
DRAGON BALL FighterZ for the Nintendo Switch is in development at Arc System Works, a renowned Japanese video game developer of classic 2D fighting titles. With DRAGON BALL FighterZ for the Nintendo Switch, the development team is now taking the signature action-packed explosive gameplay of DRAGON BALL FighterZ and combining it with the portability of the Nintendo Switch. DRAGON BALL FighterZ for the Nintendo Switch will also feature easy-to-pick-up-and-play controls in support of single Joy-Con play, along with support for Nintendo Switch Pro Controller for serious competitive play. All the classic 2D fighting visuals and advanced 3D character models that look and feel as if they are ripped straight out of the DRAGON BALL anime series can now be enjoyed anytime, anywhere.
DRAGON BALL FighterZ for the Nintendo Switch will enable fans of all skill levels to truly feel like their favourite DRAGON BALL character. Featuring 3 vs. 3 battle mechanics, both new and seasoned players alike are sure to experience the epic scope of DRAGON BALL as they build their team and take them into battle. In order to build the strongest team possible, players will need to train and master more than one fighter and style. Only then will their skills be strong enough to take down the competition.
Bandai Namco hasn't given a solid release date as yet, but we can expect the game "this summer".

Bit of a let down the whole presentation, the games were shown to fast and some of them we've seen many times before, there was no need to show them again.
I'm glad the leak was correct and we are getting Dragon Ball.
Been holding out for this port. Glad we are finally getting it. Xenoverse 2 must of lit a fire under their butts!!
Day one, most definite!
This is going to be good stuff. Day one for me!
I never say no to more fighters.
Another fighter is always welcomed
@tourjeff
Agreed let down, it was almost as if nothing new was shown that we didn’t already no. (Besides maybe super Mario party?) Looking back at the “what do you want from e3” chat.. we were all way off lol..
@Mgene15 I know right? We were going crazy on games really cool and are presented with that?
Only thing I didn't know was Mario Party, which looks great by the way, but the rest was only alright.
Day 1 for sure
I'll be there on day 1!
Got for PC like a week ago... d'oh!
I'm wondering/hoping...60fps?
@Mgene15 What about Daemon X Machina?
@link3710
I mean.. I guess?
My kid has been playing a lot of DBXV 2 on PS4, waiting for this one on Switch.
I'm curious since it's so late if Switch will get the DLC included in the game. At least a discount? Game is $60, season pass is $35. That's $95 for a 2D fighter that will be 6 months old when it comes to Switch. 2 DLC packs have been released so far.
Wait, this SUMMER? I was worried it wouldn't be out until the end of the year. Nice.
Besides Smash, this was my favourite game of Nintendo’s presentation.
Wish they showed a little more of it though or made a bigger deal of it. That was the official reveal of it coming to Switch (if I understand correctly) yet they treated it as a passing mention.
Nice to see this is coming this summer and as far away from Smash as possible.
Probably an August/September title then. Good, cause that's the weakest part of the Switch's upcoming lineup. This and Dark Souls should strengthen it a bit.
Yeap definitely a day one buy for me.
@WaveBoy I don't mind the graphics too much, more important than that is that I'll be able to take it with me on the train going to work
Switch certainly need a good fighting games controller now. Is the Pokken one good enough?
@Pazuzu666 1080p/60fps in TV Mode
720p/60fps in Handheld Mode
You're welcome.
