Re: Nintendo Appears at Apple Conference to Announce Super Mario Run

CrazedCavalier

@IceClimbers It's stuff like that in this comments that makes me think that the mental health and well being of certain individuals here depends entirely on how well Nintendo fits their own personal image of the company.

@SetupDisk Seriously. My stereotype of the Nintendo Fanboy has evolved thanks to comments on stuff like this.
Anything remotely related to mobile is instantly the end of Nintendo to these guys.

Re: Nintendo Appears at Apple Conference to Announce Super Mario Run

CrazedCavalier

@Yorumi "We're watching nintendo lower their standards and go back on all kinds of promises. "
Excuse me...? What promises are they reneging?
Mobile was meant to primarily promote their own games and make money.
A Mario runner is easy to churn out, promotes their own games, and makes money.
And "lowering standards"? Give me a break. Nintendo has released games all over the quality spectrum from the very beginning.

Re: Monster Hunter Generations September DLC Includes Star Fox and Strider Gear

CrazedCavalier

@Tsurii The Uniqlo set gives Earplugs, Evade Extender, and Halve Stun. I've got my +10 mounting master talisman and used the five slots to gem in high grade earplugs. Alternatively, using a two-slot weapon (Polaris Axe or Hyper Seregios one) I'm able to get Evasion +2 for the "discount Silverwind" vibe (still ends up with much better defense at max; 450 < 580).
It's not the best, but as you said you can definitely do some stuff with it.

Re: Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack Has Been Delayed to 4th October

CrazedCavalier

@Incarta It doesn't. As in, it's a fundamentally different style of game with some surface-deep similarities. While all the mainline Mega Man games were action-platformers, Gunvolt's pretty firmly action. Also, where the challenge in Mega Man is straightforward (simply beating the game), Gunvolt's designed to be easy-to-learn hard-to-master, with most of the difficulty coming from in-game challenges and the ranking system.

TL;DR It's a game that I greatly enjoy and am a fan of, but if you're going in expecting Mega Man prepare to be disappointed.

@HeroOfCybertron Yep. Amazon and Gamestop have listed this as it's release date as soon as it went up. It seems like Inti just took a long time to make things "official".

Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Power Bombs in Japan

CrazedCavalier

@CCore28 ...Except it's not a bad game by any stretch. It may not be a great one, but labeling something mechanically sound that many people on here have stated their enjoyment for "bad" just because it doesn't perfectly match your expectations is kinda pathetic.
Or are you one of those people were anything below 8/10 is instantly awful?

Anyways: Metroid doesn't sell well in Japan. Shooter's don't sell well in Japan. The Wii had a far larger install base than the 3DS has.
It's just gotten overshadowed. Which is really sad.

Re: Video: Check Out This New Footage of Azure Striker Gunvolt 2

CrazedCavalier

@JaxonH As somebody who already owns the first, the Striker Pack isn't worth it- plus, it comes out four days later than the digital release of the second game.

@Morshu-San @Popful Those seem to generally be common opinions among die-hard Mega Man games and such. Really, I'm kinda tired of people treating the series as a Mega Man spiritual successor when the explicit idea behind it was to be more approachable and in general just do it's own thing. It's meant to be more of an easy to learn, hard to master score attack-style game. Thus, the generally simplistic stage design; complicating them with platforming and gimmicks would detract from the core design philosophy.

Re: Video: Take an Extended Look at Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 in Localised Showcase

CrazedCavalier

@Ed_Fairway @Tempestryke Actually, Alfred. A side story previously featured her, and she's very much a parental substitute for Copen and Myttyl (their mother died a while back, and their father more recently and was involved in the Azure Striker program- it's implied that it was Asimov who killed him).

@spyro202 Well, the guy's an aspiring pastry chef on the side who can't make it big due to discrimination. Meaning is entirely consistent with the character.

Re: Video: Take an Extended Look at Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 in Localised Showcase

CrazedCavalier

@Ed_Fairway My problem with it (as much as anything else) is that it could be a perfect opportunity to expand upon GV and his history with QUILL- a straight adaption just can't work as a one-off, and they aren't going to get anybody interested in it who hasn't played the game.
And yet that seems to be what they're doing. The second trailer just lowered the bar for me by alot- at least we get a new Lumen song out of it.

Re: Video: Take an Extended Look at Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 in Localised Showcase

CrazedCavalier

I really hate the narrator.
I hated him when the first localized trailer for the first game came out, and I still do now.
They should've just stuck with subbing the Japanese narrator- like they did for the first trailer for the first game.

Anyways, nice to see that they actually re-recorded skill activation quotes to fit with the localized names. In general, the localization feels much more streamlined than the first one's- and that's really good.

Re: We Almost Got A Pokémon And Fire Emblem Crossover Game

CrazedCavalier

@DarthNocturnal Yes... yes... YES... .

@Lucina @JaxonH I didn't deny that there was too much of it; a large part of the localization complaints and surface-deep criticisms were just dumb.
Just felt the need to clear things up before somebody starts lumping in those well-thought out criticisms and brings out the bias steamroller. I've seen it happen a lot, unfortunately.

@FierceRagnar Would you mind putting away your melodramatic obsession and hatred with modern FE? Your location on Serenes Forest is listed as "kneeling by Fire Emblem's grave", for goodness' sakes.

@ThanosReXXX You know could say virtually the exact same thing about Pokemon and Nobunaga's Ambition? Plus, NA has close ties with another series where you single-handedly kill faceless hordes by the hundreds.
And yet Pokemon Conquest happened, and was pretty good.

Re: We Almost Got A Pokémon And Fire Emblem Crossover Game

CrazedCavalier

@JaxonH I feel saying people "throw a fit" over Fates disservices many of the arguments against it (I believe I typed up a critique of the series direction not long ago and you largely agreed).

The reasons why people were upset about TMS is obvious- it focused on the most controversial installments of both series (locking out everything that wasn't Akaneia, going with a colorful and light hearted theme that is far and beyond anything Persona has done).
It's taken two fanbases with divided sects at each other's throats and smashing them together.

Re: Italian Bishop Likens Pokémon GO To Nazism, Claims It Turns Players Into "Walking Dead"

CrazedCavalier

@JaxonH And thus, we have the discrepancy between the Old and New Testament Gods- one who judges and seems almost as capricious as the false gods that were his competition, and another that sends one of his three split personalities to die and rise again for everybody's transgressions.

But I'm a 16 year old, and the son of an Anglican pastor no less- I have a long life still ahead of me, and my beliefs will certainly change in some way or another overtime.

Re: Italian Bishop Likens Pokémon GO To Nazism, Claims It Turns Players Into "Walking Dead"

CrazedCavalier

@JaxonH I'd rather not believe that there's an after life or ultimate good if they both are determined by an egotistical being who damns people to eternal punishment for not dedicating their lives primarily to boost his ego.
An egotistical being who claims to be perfect and not lie, and yet is explicitly at his whits' end with his creations and willing to break the covenant that he promised not to, multiple times.
An egotistical being that decrees something that's in the absolute worst case scenario really a mental illness a sin, when it is far outside of most's control.
An egotistical being who's left things so vague and open to interpretation that dozens of denominations have sprung up with their own beliefs and interpretations on things.
An egotistical being who's responsible both for you finding your keys in the morning and a child starving to death.

That's why I'm no longer a Christian.

Re: Round Up: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Predictably Divides Opinion

CrazedCavalier

@AVahne So, regardless of the actual content of the reviews, you're just going to find a "pattern" to fulfill your own desires and discredit other peoples opinion?
Guys, I think we have an example of confirmation bias here.

It's one thing to say "I'm not interested in this"; it's another to actively hate on something and hope it does poorly. Namely, the former is the mature thing to say while the latter is just pathetic.

Re: Yacht Club Games Bringing Azure Striker Gunvolt And Its Sequel To Retail In Australia

CrazedCavalier

@PLATINUM7 The 1st game was a $15 USD download, and the second game will probably be the same. The duual pack also has extra artwork and the like, meaning this will probably cost as much as a full retail 3DS game.

Anyways, some trivia about the above artwork: it's a zoomed-in part of a larger artwork that was sent to MN9 Backers as a New Year 2014 gift, before the game was even announced.

Re: Monster Hunter Generations

CrazedCavalier

A major caveat about save data: http://game.capcom.com/manual/MH_Gen/en/contents1.html
"Performing the following actions will cause the game to become temporarily unplayable.
-Inserting the game into a different system and attempting to play
-Switching out the SD card with one that doesn't have extra data created by the system"

What's more...
"Performing the following actions will cause the game to become unplayable.
-Formatting the SD card
-Deleting the extra data from the SD card
-Selecting Format Save Data from the options menu"

So, yeah. Most likely done to shut down the rampant save hackers, but the used market for this game is kinda dead. Can you imagine somebody buying the game, only to be unable to play it because somebody returned it after firing it up? The only way to make it playable there would be a complete system data transfer.
Screw you too, hackers. Screw you too.

Re: Metroid: Other M Zero Suit Samus Figure Can Be Posed, Stamped On

CrazedCavalier

@JaxonH Except Nintendo didn't try anything with the franchise until Federation Force... .
It was too radical of a departure from what made Metroid Metroid while still being a "main game", with Sakamoto going out of his way to retcon out the Prime games and micromanage the game's dub (Samus' VA was a rising star in the Seattle theater scene, and people say she could've actually been good). But no; Samus just info dumps in a droll monotone in unskippable cutscenes, while being a slave to Adam. They tried to humanize Samus, but they did it poorly; heck, the manga that they used as reference for her backstory did it much better.
While not a terrible game (or even that bad of one), Other M was a massive departure with it's main idea clunkily handled. That said, KO Club is being an elitist notevengonnatypeithere.

Re: Round Up: First Mighty No. 9 Reviews Suggest The Wait Hasn't Been Worth It

CrazedCavalier

Funny how some complain about the game being too hard, while others are saying it's too easy.

Some of the criticism sounds eerily similiar to Gunvolt's criticism: it doesn't quite play like Mega Man and there's not much in the way of platforming. Here at least there's grounds for that, as it was deliberately marketed as a spiritual successor; however, I feel that if the Kickstarter drama for this game hadn't been a thing it would've scored better than it has. With GV, the majority of critics gave it an 8, while it was the distinct minority (USGamer, for instance) who judged the game as a Mega Man successor. I feel like that may have been Comcept's big mistake: they marketed it as the Mega Man game everybody wanted but also wanted to differnetiate and freshen up the gameplay, placing things in an awkward middle.
