Re: Data Miners Find More New Monsters In Pokémon Sun And Moon Demo

CrazedCavalier

@RudysaurusRex As I have said countless times in countless places: the concept art notes that it uses underhanded tactics. In Japan, fighting type is basically hero type and dark type is literally evil type.
It's dark type. Do your research before jumping to- oh wait this is the internet I'm expecting people to be smart.

@00Wyvern People who feel strongly must express their opinions. There's always people whining about Pokemon designs, and considering the reactions of a lot of people on this site to certain going ons it's not surprising at all.

Re: Monster Hunter Stories Takes Number One Spot in Japan, But Falls Well Short of Main Series Sales

CrazedCavalier

@meleebrawler I should've clarified: in Japan, it's a massive phenomena.
Capcom has "tournaments" where people compete in duos to get an arena quest done the fastest.
The most recent was around Generation's original Japanese release, and the winners? A mother and son duo.
The series is massive and is firmly implanted in Japanese pop culture. Stories effectively cuts out the millions of main series fans just to stoop for a younger demographic that, as you said, has their hands full with other things.

Re: Monster Hunter Stories Takes Number One Spot in Japan, But Falls Well Short of Main Series Sales

CrazedCavalier

Eh. The gameplay looked very shallow from what I saw, and the "story" part of "Stories" doesn't seem to be anything special.
Not surprised at the rather ho-hum sales.

It's taking a blockbuster franchise that has all-ages appeal and making a kiddie spinoff- imagine a chibi-style E10+ CoD with SRPG gameplay, and you have a rough equivalent of the departure Stories is from the main series.

CrazedCavalier

@HyrulianOfHyrule "The cat punch that this Pokémon can dish out with its strong forelegs is extremely powerful. It can bend iron bars and knock out large men with a single blow!"
And Mallow was shown in the art well before we knew of her.
Honestly, anybody still denying the Chinese leak is deluding themselves. This mid-forms line up perfectly- Rowlet has gained sharp feathers in its wings that it uses as projectiles, Popplio has taken on a more feminine and dance focused form rather than straight-up circus performing, and Litten has the flame sac on it's neck and what I posted above.

@Tsurii Literally first thing I thought when I read that.
What I would give for PokemonsterHunter.

@Pants98 Let's just hope they didn't leave the entire pokedex for dataminers to find cough like X and Y cough and ORAS.

Re: Fan-Made Title Pokémon Uranium Is Officially Dead

CrazedCavalier

People keep forgetting something- Pokemon is owned by The Pokemon Company International, which Nintendo only has partial stakes it.
Pokemon is pretty firmly a 2nd-party IP; they don't have exclusive control of it.
People jumping on the Nintendo hatewagon should be blaming TPCI and not just go "d'oh Nintendo!"

Re: 2DS Relaunch Makes Decent Chart Debut in Japan as Persona 5 and PS4 Run Riot

CrazedCavalier

@rjejr The PS4 itself hasn't done amazing in Japan- so many companies are still releasing PS3 versions of their games over there three years after the PS4 launch because of the Japanese public being slow to adopt.
And Persona 5's week 1 sales numbers, as a blockbuster console game, are a fraction of the sales of the blockbuster handheld games (Yokai Watch, Monster Hunter, Pokemon).

Either way, I don't see Nintendo singling out the Wii U's poor sales on the Japanese public's tastes. They've already admitted that they weren't clear at first with what it was and that they needed to have more quality titles sooner.

Re: Capcom Working On New Monster Hunter To "Aggressively" Increase Sales

CrazedCavalier

@rjejr You are jumping to conclusions and assuming that they're making it multiplatform.
The actual text says that "we will attempt to increase sales by aggressively launching major titles, including a Monster Hunter-related title."
That says nothing about multiplat- it says that they want to release more major titles in the future and that a new Monster Hunter is on the horizon. Heck, it doesn't even directly concern Monster Hunter's sales- just the sales of Capcom IPs in general.

@MarcelRguez Started with Tri and I won't lie, I kind of hope that 5 is Japanese exclusive and they do something like a simultaneous release of 5G a year down the line. I don't want the West to get too burned out on things.

Re: Capcom Working On New Monster Hunter To "Aggressively" Increase Sales

CrazedCavalier

@DragonEleven The series sells millions in Japan alone. Heck, the last Japanese only game- Portable 3rd on the PSP -sold 5 million copies. Every game besides Tri has sold at least 2 million. I don't want to see the games boiled down into a flashy style-over-substance God Eater like experience.

@Moon Why would you think that? They've had the deal with Nintendo for some time, and Monster Hunter works better in the handheld ecosystem- I believe this helps drive home that the NX will be a hybrid.

@rjejr The initial forecast for the fiscal year had the Monster Hunter title pegged at selling about 2 million units- which seems a bit small for the 3DS install base, working off of precedence.
Nintendo's paying them and the title's presence will help the system out a ton in Japan- letting future titles in the series sell even better.

@MarcelRguez I find the claim of stagnation odd, since (Generation's slow intro aside) those two games have offered more and changed up more than any other title in the series.
And the series has been a yearly thing in Japan since the beginning- this is the first year since the franchise started that a new game is not coming out over there.

Re: CoroCoro Reveals Rockruff's Evolution & New Ultra Beasts for Pokémon Sun and Moon

CrazedCavalier

@Angelic_Lapras_King Umm... there was three years between BW and XY (late 2010 -> late 2013). Thing is, due to the latter having a world-wide release, it was functionally two and a half years between for the West.

@retropunky Heaven forbid they actually get somebody who's not Masuda to be the director and actually change things up.
I'm the polar opposite- got burnt out on the series and skipped ORAS, but Sun and Moon are making me the most hyped I've ever been for a Pokemon title.

Re: Video: Nintendo Minute Shows Off a New Area of Paper Mario: Color Splash

CrazedCavalier

@FierceRagnar You do know that Federation Force was the Prime series director's idea, right? And that they were only development grunts in the series past and really have no major connections to the series? Or that Miyamoto and poll numbers are the reason for Sticker Star's direction? Or that pretty much everybody who's played Fates has said that at least the gameplay is solid and a massive step above Awakening?
Stop acting like this. You're not trying to have a constructive conversation about anything (by your own admittance, you don't care about the users but the game). What's the point?

@OptometristLime So expressing any form of optimism towards this game is an issue? Second comment says "cautious optimism", after all.

Re: Poll: Share Your Thoughts on Super Mario Run and the Delays to Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem on Mobile

CrazedCavalier

@XCWarrior Mobile is meant to be "a pillar of profit", after all. A pillar of profit- they've given no indication of leaving the dedicated hardware market (and have reassured fans on that matter within the past year).

The Wii and DS were temporary- they lost their dominance of the market due to most casual gamers moving to mobile. This is a movement to profit off of said market again and try and get some back into the fold.

When say things like "Sold their soul" and in general use extremely melodramatic wording, I'm much less likely to take you seriously.

Re: Poll: Share Your Thoughts on Super Mario Run and the Delays to Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem on Mobile

CrazedCavalier

@XCWarrior
Part 1: "Sells soul to Apple"
"Sells soul to Apple"
"Sells soul to Apple"
What? Seriously, what? It's a runner game on mobile that will release first on the Iphone 7 and come to Android early next year.
You're acting like they just handed Apple the majority of their stock when it's a small partnership over one freaking game.

Part 2
1. The Wii U was a failure- why should they continue to put focus on it?
2. They're in a transitional period. How many good wii games were released in the year leading up the Wii U? And don't say anything from Project Rainfall, because those were localizations of games that released in Japan years ago.
3. Because this a transitional period- everything points towards the NX being a hybrid console.
4. You call Alola forms lazy, I see them as a way of making older Pokemon viable and sidestepping X and Y's main issue of having too many old Pokemon. And please. There's always a vocal minority who craps on the newest designs.
5. Can't really say much here- that much I'd mostly agree with.
6. Who cares about customer loyalty programs, exactly? Off the top of my head, Nintendo is the only major company I can think of that does that.
7. And you're just flat out assuming things and throwing dirt at Tatsumi Kimishima. Yes, he's not Satoru Iwata; the issue? This whole point is inconsequential.

And here's a quote from that article:
“I love hardware platforms and Nintendo will continue to make our own hardware but what’s changed is that there was a time when Nintendo’s platforms were the most popular in the world and now we see smartphones are the most popular device in the world. So we’ll keep looking for opportunities in smartphones and when we see them we’ll design something specifically for that hardware.”
Where does this say that they're giving up and going 3rd party? This matches up exactly with what has been said- mobile is a way to get money and try and attract people to their hardware. The quote itself says they're not going to stop making hardware. They know that they're not the most popular gaming platform in the world- that's good. They're not releasing console games on mobile- they're releasing mobile games on mobile.
Seriously, I'm sick of people like you overreacting about this stuff.

Re: Poll: Share Your Thoughts on Super Mario Run and the Delays to Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem on Mobile

CrazedCavalier

@XCWarrior Sure this isn't a sarcastic comment that will end up being taken too seriously?
Because I think one cheaply made endless runner game means virtually nothing in the long run, and isn't a sign of Nintendo "selling out" or abandoning the general video game market for mobile anytime soon.

Anyways, not interested at all in their mobile offerings- as long as they stay true to what was outlined, I'm okay with it.

Re: Nintendo Appears at Apple Conference to Announce Super Mario Run

CrazedCavalier

@Yorumi But there's nothing that says that your opinions and predictions are true either!
And I never said it was "the fans' fault for not blindly buying the Wii U". Unless you think the fans are in charge of concept and marketing for a new console.

You're acting like mobile will replace everything that Nintendo does, when it's just one part of it. As I've outlined in earlier comments, they haven't lied about anything. It's just another way to make money. I personally don't care in the slightest about mobile or the mobile market.

Everything that you've said has made things clear: you are taking this very personally and feel betrayed.
And considering it's about entertainment, I find it disturbing.
Now, I'm going to go and be the big kid and leave this headache of a comments section.

Re: Nintendo Appears at Apple Conference to Announce Super Mario Run

CrazedCavalier

@Yorumi
You want to know why the Wii U has such a small library? Because it didn't sell. It was poorly marketed and conceptualized.
And mobile games take a tiny fraction of the time and resources to develop that are needed to develop a console game.
The Wii U is a failure of a platform. It has some good games, sure, but it's barren because it didn't do well.
And please, the Virtual Boy has what, 15 games in it's library? And only one of them that isn't a port is actually decent? As the company's second worst failure, the Wii U is many leagues better than their worst.

You are acting like any opinion that's different than yours is instantly invalid and coming from a blind fanboy.
"yeah yeah go away I get it, we don't want to hear anything about nintendo that's not worship. Don't expect a rope when you're drowning in low quality mobile games."
You say this with such dismissal and conviction.
