Re: Monster Hunter: World Confirmed for Rival Platforms, is Skipping Nintendo Switch

@JaxonH If you checked Haru's thread, a UK community manager has been pretty open about stuff. All 14 weapons types return, potions are still a thing (the crummy red hit effects may have been just for the trailer), and the stamina and sharpening systems are intact.

There's extra footage out there that shows Anjanath being knocked over like a brute wyvern and the GS user upswinging and blocking (which sends him back a good ways). All using the animations you'd expect.

It honestly depends on if they butcher the crafting system or not and if the world isn't too obtrusive.

@Haru17 Capcom Japan itself is pretty large-- outside of the project planner, how much of the core team is actually on board?

And a lot of people were saying it looked like DD with an MH skin (the wisp effect is apparently straight-up lifted from that game).

@JaxonH Actually, isn't a simultaneous worldwide release? They're just not promoting it in Japan because... yeah.

@AlexSora89 Remember, RE7 is targeting 10 million units still.

Wait... I thought the game took place in a generic steampunk-ish setting to evoke the feeling of 18th century England while having all the crazier stuff not break the suspension of disbelief?

Anyways, to quote a mod from Neogaf:
"Summary of this thread: I clamored for years for a new Igavania, and now that one is coming I realized I don't want that anymore".

Castlevania games never had flashy or detailed backgrounds and let the gameplay do the talking (and gameplay impressions from the demos have been pretty positive).

@EternalDragonX The animations are straight out of Castlevania games from Symphony of the Night onward..
Floaty jumps, a stilted-looking jog animation instead of a walking one...

@NewAdvent People love the gameplay from the demos and the backgrounds/animations are inline with the Castlevania series SotN onward.

@ImagineerNik Some people genuinely wish it didn't exist anymore; though in general, Nintendo fans have the odd tendency to be Westaboos also.

@bimmy-lee Isn't that the internet (and much of the current generation) already?

Though, I will say: the joke did come off as rather smarmy and hypocritical.
But this is the same site that gives regular updates on emulator progress while barring discussion of them on the forums, so integrity probably isn't the highest on their list.

@Gerbwmu "3DS is having its swan song".
I think people need to stop bandying that about.
"3DS is having its swan song with Sun and Moon"
"3DS is having its swan song with Fire Emblem Echoes"
"3DS is having its swan song with Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon"

Anyways, yeah if they manage a quick pace the presentation should be fine. Of course, some people are going to invariably be disappointed and ignore follow-up info/announcements from the Treehouse stream right after.

@oatmealwarrior92 Rumor has it that they wanted to bring over Portable 3rd HD on PS3 but SCEA actually blocked it due to a lack of trophies and PSN support.
They had Nintendo actually market the franchise in the West and then Sony basically spit on them when they tried to bring their next game over. Of course, 3U likely began development right after Tri, so the writing was probably on the wall much sooner.
