@Nintendo_Ninja They already confirmed that wouldn't happen because there would be too many sword users. Which looks pretty darn stupid with every single confirmed character being a swordie.
@NESTalgia I mean, the only games they consider spinoffs are things like the mobile games and Stories. It doesn't mean too much in and of itself. XX is as "main" as this game.
@NEStalgia They helped fund SFV and it still came to PC. Considering how important MH is to Capcom (and some foresight), they could have easily got an Xbox One version in the contract. Sony seems to be getting full advertising rights anyways.
Considering the series' sales on 3DS, I don't see the brand dying globally if this fails conservative expectations.
@NEStalgia Sony approached them and said "Make an MH game for the west. We'll pay for it. Put it on whatever but keep it off the Switch." Capcom isn't risking much-- all they need is for it to break even.
@NEStalgia It's barely more than what 4U sold in the West. Rumor has it that much of the team is dissatisfied with the game and that it was nothing more than a side-project for Capcom overall.
And who knows how many assets were recycled from Deep Down/Dragon's Dogma and the like.
@NEStalgia 1.5 million sales expectations for the next "big" step forward in their bread winning franchise definitely doesn't scream a lot of confidence. Probably not a lot of budget put into it, either.
@JaxonH I'm just more annoyed than anything that an utter donkey of a youtuber I used to follow is jumping for joy because "open world and none of that anime crap".
@JaxonH Actually, it looks like they just masked area transitions-- the swimming segment, pushing aside the curtain of brambles, could all be there just to mask load times.
Though I am saddened by rumors from the neogaf insider pipeline (who predicted this) saying XX likely won't get localized.
@JaxonH If you checked Haru's thread, a UK community manager has been pretty open about stuff. All 14 weapons types return, potions are still a thing (the crummy red hit effects may have been just for the trailer), and the stamina and sharpening systems are intact.
There's extra footage out there that shows Anjanath being knocked over like a brute wyvern and the GS user upswinging and blocking (which sends him back a good ways). All using the animations you'd expect.
It honestly depends on if they butcher the crafting system or not and if the world isn't too obtrusive.
@Grudgebearer It's clearly not the main team working on this, and the 4chan rumor actually seems largely vindicated (outside of naming-- said this would be MH5 and the "Portable" series would see a revival). It called darn near everything else.
@Haru17 Source? Because the Dragon's Dogma director teased that he was working on a new game a couple years back and then later said it would be announced this year.
@AlexSora89 @SLIGEACH_EIRE If the rumors are anything to go by, Capcom has little faith in the game itself (1.5 million sales target) and the main series team is plugging away on Monster Hunter 5 for Switch.
Wait... I thought the game took place in a generic steampunk-ish setting to evoke the feeling of 18th century England while having all the crazier stuff not break the suspension of disbelief?
Anyways, to quote a mod from Neogaf:
"Summary of this thread: I clamored for years for a new Igavania, and now that one is coming I realized I don't want that anymore".
Castlevania games never had flashy or detailed backgrounds and let the gameplay do the talking (and gameplay impressions from the demos have been pretty positive).
@EternalDragonX The animations are straight out of Castlevania games from Symphony of the Night onward..
Floaty jumps, a stilted-looking jog animation instead of a walking one...
@NewAdvent People love the gameplay from the demos and the backgrounds/animations are inline with the Castlevania series SotN onward.
@ImagineerNik Some people genuinely wish it didn't exist anymore; though in general, Nintendo fans have the odd tendency to be Westaboos also.
@bimmy-lee Isn't that the internet (and much of the current generation) already?
Though, I will say: the joke did come off as rather smarmy and hypocritical. But this is the same site that gives regular updates on emulator progress while barring discussion of them on the forums, so integrity probably isn't the highest on their list.
@Gerbwmu "3DS is having its swan song". I think people need to stop bandying that about. "3DS is having its swan song with Sun and Moon" "3DS is having its swan song with Fire Emblem Echoes" "3DS is having its swan song with Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon"
Anyways, yeah if they manage a quick pace the presentation should be fine. Of course, some people are going to invariably be disappointed and ignore follow-up info/announcements from the Treehouse stream right after.
@Frank90 Good grief, how freaking' salty can people get? "Nintendo will always disappoint us"?
I guess you really can love something so much you hate it.
@ShadJV Arts and Styles were done to shake things up for a spin-off game-- but they're likely to stick around, judging from near-unanimous positive reactions from fans and critics that the devs have explicitly noted.
@MrGamerClock64 So two souped-up ports, one of which is guaranteed to sell gangbusters in Japan and has the Switch's first unique hardware design, means they aren't supporting it?
This and the Disney Afternoon Collection were done using smaller teams. They're not notable physical releases; they're just ports rushed out on the consoles with PC architecture.
@Arehexes It was burned through in 25 minutes, I believe.
@dew12333 WYVERN on the back (Never mind how the series has misappropriated that to mean "any kind of monster" when it was used correctly to only describe two-legged dragons in the first one).
@liljmoore You end up associating that something with them, consciously or subconsciously.
Granted, it's entirely likely they did make Twintelle with that in mind to also make sure the other female members of the roster are viewed more "innocently".
So, since the spot over Judd's mouth is meant to make it look like he's chomping a cigar, the fact little Judd has it is both funny and something I'm surprised people haven't latched on to.
@oatmealwarrior92 Rumor has it that they wanted to bring over Portable 3rd HD on PS3 but SCEA actually blocked it due to a lack of trophies and PSN support. They had Nintendo actually market the franchise in the West and then Sony basically spit on them when they tried to bring their next game over. Of course, 3U likely began development right after Tri, so the writing was probably on the wall much sooner.

@Nintendo_Ninja They already confirmed that wouldn't happen because there would be too many sword users.
Which looks pretty darn stupid with every single confirmed character being a swordie.
Also, the twins' VAs sucked.

Re: Monster Hunter: World Confirmed for Rival Platforms, is Skipping Nintendo Switch
@Haru17 Capcom Japan itself is pretty large-- outside of the project planner, how much of the core team is actually on board?
And a lot of people were saying it looked like DD with an MH skin (the wisp effect is apparently straight-up lifted from that game).
@JaxonH Actually, isn't a simultaneous worldwide release? They're just not promoting it in Japan because... yeah.
@AlexSora89 Remember, RE7 is targeting 10 million units still.
Re: Monster Hunter: World Confirmed for Rival Platforms, is Skipping Nintendo Switch
@Grudgebearer The lead planner from MH4 is involved, but that's it. Too early to say.

Re: Capcom Unleashes Debut Trailer and Details on Monster Hunter XX for Nintendo Switch
@Dakt It looks almost nothing like Monster Hunter.
And seriously... how petty can you get?
It's not Monster Hunter 5.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Ubisoft's Nintendo Switch Reveals at E3 2017?
M+R:KB actually looks pretty good.
Re: Minecraft's Cross-Platform Update Is Coming To Nintendo Switch This August
@Dakt Windows 10 is part of the Xbox ecosystem.
Anyways, I was surprised as anybody to see a Switch pop up. Nice announcement for Minecraft fans, at least.
Re: 505 Games Unleashes New Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night E3 2017 Trailer
@Dakt That was concept art, and they made it quickly apparent they were going for 2.5D from the start.
@EternalDragonX Compare Alucard's SotN animations to Miriam's.
They're purposefully meant to be reminiscent.
Re: 505 Games Unleashes New Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night E3 2017 Trailer
@MarcelRguez Actually, I was mistaken.
The castle itself has 1600 rooms normally, and there's a different game mode where it's proceduraly generated.
Re: 505 Games Unleashes New Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night E3 2017 Trailer
@NEStalgia It's proceduraly generated, if that explains things.

@Yorumi The trailer says "early 2018".

Inb4 Diamond and Pearl remakes on 3DS.

The fact they're using the series' old logo looks really off.
Re: New Details Emerge For Splatoon 2's Single Player "Hero" Campaign Mode
Okay, that's straight-up an MP90 SMG with lime green paint in the second image.
Re: Gallery: Revel In This Ridiculously Retro 3-Bit ARMS Artwork
@Gregory123 Mechanica's unaltered and is just using a mech suit, while Byte and Bark are full robots.
Re: Here's A Closer Look At The Monster Hunter XX Switch Bundle You Can't Own
@dew12333 I was joking around as well (and nitpicking the series' terminology).

Re: SNES Classic Edition Gets Name-Checked In Xbox E3 Survey
@FragRed Makes sense.
Last generation people tended to play most of their games on PS3, PC, or Wii and 360.
Re: Guide: How to Remove That Pesky Joy-Con Wrist Strap
@Darkhound1999 My elder brother was like that. Always had to remove the grip and wrist strap off of any wiimote he used.
Of course, he also broke a small lamp during a round of tennis when he accidentally threw it...

Re: Two Brand New Fire Emblem Warriors Characters Get Revealed, As Well As Marth
@Luna_110 To me, Fates' cast is hit-or-miss; Awakening's is entirely miss. The main stories of both games suck so you have to go to the supports.
Re: Video: Get a Good Look at Twintelle's Special Moves in the Latest ARMS Trailer
The Etika-like creeps ruined the character for me.
Looks neat, but can't see her as anything else but fanservice bait.

Re: Two Brand New Fire Emblem Warriors Characters Get Revealed, As Well As Marth
@AbsoluteZer0Nova They started developing the game long before that, before even the Famitsu Warriors crossover poll where FE took #1: http://www.siliconera.com/2017/05/30/fire-emblem-warriors-will-mostly-feature-heroes-shadow-dragon-awakening-fates/
It's too late for them to correct any mistakes.
Re: Two Brand New Fire Emblem Warriors Characters Get Revealed, As Well As Marth
@Angelic_Lapras_King I don't want to pay $60 for the chance down the road to pay more for a few characters I find appealing.

@TheWretchedCrow The guy who decided that TMS had reasonable series representation, apparently.
Re: Advance Wars Producer Doesn't Have A Clear Idea For New Entry

Focus on the gameplay-- otaku pandering isn't everything.
