I went digital, like 3 minutes after it dropped on eShop. Finally beat it today, man what a beautiful game. I might jump right back in but try on casual mode this time, just to breeze through. Or jump back into Dread for more Switch Metroid goodness.
I'm a big fan of videogame music, and Yoshis Island soundtrack is top tier. So many great tunes, from the map theme, underground theme, overworld theme, it's all fantastic
More Metroid Prime Remastered for me. I made it halfway through the first Phazon Mines section before I realized the morph ball jump button made it into this game 🤯 I didn't realize the X button let you jump without bombs.
Just got the grapple and plasma beam, so getting pretty close now
Gotta go with SNES. Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, DKC, DKC2, Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy 3 through 6, they all hold up to this day. Add in the random games I had as a kid (Goof Troops, Paperboy 2, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Tecmo Super Bowl, Mario AllStars) and it really was just my favorite console.
As far as boxart suits go, it's a close call between Prime and Dread. But overall suits? Prime varia, Prime gravity, Prime phazon, Echoes varia, echoes dark (wheels and all), echoes light, corruption varia, they're all great. I loved Dread and it's suits, just not spoiler suit.
I can't believe how hard they dropped the ball music-wise in dread. Such a great game, and music in Metroid is super important, but they just didn't get there
I've only ever owned the first iteration of any console, never two from the same generation. So my GBA was the see through glacier purple one, and never got the SP.
My buddy got the tribal silver SP and that thing was mint, I was so jealous
@andykara2003 Unless it's due to my OG, day one Switch but yeah I've had what seem to be minor technical issues. The biggest is the one I already commented, it felt like lag or similar and then the jump button didn't work until I went into morph ball and back.
I would have given it a 10, but there are some minor issues I have. Occasionally, the game seems to stutter for me. Once, suddenly B wasn't working, had to go into morph ball and back before I could jump again. Super minor issue though
My opinion is this: the og team did the og game, and their names are in the og credits.
The new team did the remaster, and their names are in the credits.
OG team gets a shout-out in the form of "based on the work of OG team", and that should be plenty good.
But since people are up in arms about it, I'd patch it just to keep positive press and sales. I personally think if it was me who worked on OG prime, I'd be fine with that inclusion.
Was the "three shot burst before charging" a thing in the Wii version? It feels so odd, I don't think it was in the GameCube version.
And perhaps it's just the fact that I'm using earbuds now, but I swear the music has changed. Chozo Ruins seems to have an odd effect mixed in with the familiar tune. Not a complaint at all, but an observation. Hopefully Crashed Frigate and Phendrana Drifts are just as beautiful and somber as I remember, I know y'all said they lessened the snowfall amounts
@gcunit
Lol newcomers won't be more disgruntled now about save stations as they were 20 years ago, it's part of the game. Can't worry constantly if people are going to need their hands held. Metroid has always been like that, you gotta be smart about your progress and save often. If people are complaining about that, I hope Echoes doesn't get remastered. Imagine the complaining about lack of save.stations PLUS now you gotta sit in the lighted area to heal?
@SViper I assume it's too difficult to remaster Prime 3 without the full gyro aiming (Switch Lite users) and releasing the first 2 makes less sense than just the first. So my guess is this is it for remastered Metroid Prime
@LikelySatan Yeah I did, I beat BoTW. But other than Teri Town, there aren't many memorable tunes. Compare that to Wind Waker, where each main island has a unique theme, the travel theme is super memorable, and the into is perfect
@Dezzy70 I would take OoT style over BoTW style any day. Open world exploration is okay, but give me meaningful dungeons, useful items, a return to traditional soundtrack instead of atmospheric airy style, that whole package. OoT, WW, TP, even SS beat out BoTW for me
Here's hoping "focusing on games releasing in the first half of the year" leaves room for updates on other titles (Metroid Prime 4) and at least reveals of others, like a new Mario or DK game
@AlienX Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I completely disagree. The cast, characters and world building were all so good that it'd be tough for me to watch a sequel that didn't include them.
Even if it's just "remnants of the dad are echoing in Pikachu, and he once again can talk and has the personality"
I doubt it will happen, but I'd love to at least see a Metroid Prime trailer, hear some news, SOMETHING. I don't want to give up hope on it, that and Prime HD rumors are currently my most anticipated games
A quick search shows that in 1982, Burger King had advertisements for Pacman. So I think almost as long as games have existed, they've been advertised in fast food at least

Here's hoping Prime 2 comes along as well!
Re: Every Yoshi Game Ranked
@Ulysses
For a cute and easy breezy game, I love Kirby's Epic Yarn. The soundtrack is charming, especially the Flower Fields song.
Re: Every Yoshi Game Ranked
At some point I'd love to try Yoshi's Island DS and Yoshi's New Island. The og Yoshi's Island is one of my favorite games

Hot take, I enjoyed DBZ mostly during the Buu saga
Re: Miyamoto: Nintendo Is "Always" Working On Mario, But Isn't Ready For The Next Game Reveal Just Yet
@TheBigBlue
IGN comment sections are a plague lol. A hive of scum and villainy
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel: Metroid Fusion
The eu/na one looks cleaner to me, less cluttered. Plus I love me a superhero landing pose
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 18th)

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Tales Of Symphonia Remastered
I tried Symphonia, Abyss, and Vesperia and I just can't get into Tales games
Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo Console Has The Best First-Party Games Lineup?

Re: Gallery: Mario Characters' Movie Vs. Game Designs - Which Do You Prefer?
@Browny
I think them going with the classic DK look instead of his modern look was a mistake. DKC or Smash Bros style would better suit it
Re: Random: Cuphead Gets Limited Edition Art From Final Fantasy Artist Yoshitaka Amano
@JohnnyMind
Ha I was wondering if my pun would land, without making it too obvious
Re: Random: Cuphead Gets Limited Edition Art From Final Fantasy Artist Yoshitaka Amano
Eh, not a fan of Final Fantasy artwork. In-game art is much better than the title art that usually features this style. Not my cup of tea at all
Re: Feature: Samus' Suits, Ranked - Every Metroid Box Art Suit Design, From Worst To Best

Re: Best Metroid Games Of All Time
@TheBigK
I love the Metroid series, but never enjoyed Super like everyone else. I LOVE the first 2 Prime games, Zero Mission, Fusion and Dread though.
Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Metroid Prime Remastered
What were the minor quibbles?
This game has me hooked, just like when I was a kid. Such a great game, here's hoping Prime 2 rolls onto Switch in the near future
Re: Talking Point: 20 Years Of The Best Game Boy Ever - How Did You Get Your GBA SP?
I've only ever owned the first iteration of any console, never two from the same generation. So my GBA was the see through glacier purple one, and never got the SP.
My buddy got the tribal silver SP and that thing was mint, I was so jealous
Re: Feature: 22 Game Boy Advance Games We'd Love To See Added To Nintendo Switch Online
I scanned the list quickly, but definitely would add Legacy of Goku 2 and Buus Fury. Those were great GBA titles that I've replayed quite a few times
Re: Soapbox: Switch Is Great, But The GBA SP Was The Pinnacle Of Public Transport Gaming
My phone, and I just emulate SNES, GBC and GBA games. It's too hard to play N64 or GCN without a controller, but the early era games work perfectly
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Metroid Prime Remastered?
@sketchturner
I love Prime, but Prime 2 is my jam. I would absolutely buy a remastered version. And Prime 3 was meh to me

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Name Link When You're Playing A Zelda Game?
Link. If it's Pokemon, I make a name. But Zelda isn't a self insert for me, it's the story of Zelda and Link forever entwined
Re: Metroid Prime Engineer "Let Down" By Exclusion Of Original Credits In Remaster
My opinion is this: the og team did the og game, and their names are in the og credits.

More Metroid Prime. Just beat Flaahgra. Way easier of a fight than I remembered haha
Re: Feature: Zelda Companions, Ranked - Who Was Link's Best Sidekick?
@AcridSkull
The only good thing about Linebeck is his theme lol
Midna and Fi are both great, and also have great themes. Midna's Lament is such a great song

YES. This is my big ticket item. Still no word on Prime 4 but this gives me hope
Re: Feature: Our Predictions For The February 2023 Nintendo Direct

It won't happen but I'd love for there to be Metroid Prime news. 4, HD remakes, Paper Metroid Prime, doesn't matter. I want it

Re: Best Time Loop Games On Nintendo Switch
I played the Skyrim mod and loved it, is Forgotten City much different? I'd love to play it, the mod was so moody, tense and dark

I know it's oddly polarizing, but Hawaiian pizza is my favorite style. Ham and pineapple go so well together

I still intend to pick it up, but waiting till I'm done my current backlog. I'm sure it's right up my alley but reviews seem pretty mid

I tried one a while ago, don't even remember which. But all I could think was "meh..." so I personally wouldn't care if they stopped making them
