Re: Bravely Default Producer Says To Expect An Announcement This Year

Classic603

Bravely Default was a lot of fun, I didn't play the sequel on DS but Bravely Default II was a blast. The classes, the music, speeding up the combat, the locations. The enemies running away from you when you got too powerful!

The only gripe I really had was Seth's story not really making sense (in the begining he washed up and was apparently from a different world, with no memory).

Looking forward to either a Bravely Second for BD2, a remaster of the first game, or an all new entry. If it's a mobile game then I'm all set

@Lizuka

I was so ready to argue with you. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Engage. The combat was fun, the Engage system felt fun, most of the characters were enjoyable on the battlefield.

...But then I realized, I don't think I ever beat it. I played decently far in, but don't remember any story beats. I don't know where I left off, what any of the characters names are, any locations. As much fun as I had with it, I haven't picked it up in months and don't really feel like doing so now. It's a fun, but forgettable, game.

And that's so crazy to me. I know I had fun playing it, but somewhere down the line I just stopped and never came back

Re: Talking Point: What Game Do You Wish You Could Forget?

I went with Metroid Prime. But really, it would be erasing the GameCube version from my memory and replaying the Switch version for the first time. I played through it and loved it, but spent the whole time just checking what felt the same and what was different. I'd love to have been able to just play it as if it was my first time, it's just a fantastic game

@YoshiFlutterJump

You said "gems", but then listed Color Splash...? Must be a typo 😝

That game was good to look at, and I loved the color idea, but once again combat was a big miss for me.

Oh for sure it's a matter of taste, my main point was that it's less likely for someone who DIDN'T grow up with certain games (especially NES/SNES/ OG Gameboy) to appreciate them. I didn't play much N64 at all as a kid, so those games don't hold up. But PS1 games, that look just as crappy, do for me.

That's probably my nostalgia talking. Ask someone under 30 how much they like DKC2 and I'm sure they'll say Tropic Freeze is better, but to me DKC2 is the best platformer of all time.

The controls for OoT were revolutionary for its time, but with dual sticks and more intuitive controllers these days, they could be upgraded. Graphics could be definitely improved. Add features, inventory items, more collectibles. Lots can be done to improve and justify a remake

@smithyo
That was exactly my point, though. SNES sprite based games? Still look great. GameCube games? Showing age but still great, no super weird controllers. N64? Early polygon games look so crappy now, it's tough to go back. I tried on the Wii eShop back in the day and it sucked. 3DS version came out, and suddenly OoT was a top tier Zelda game for me

Re: Poll: What's The Best RPG Starring Mario?

Thousand Year Door, then Super Paper Mario. I haven't fully played through the og, and I'm not a fan of Color Splash or Sticker Star. Origami King was ok, just not the combat. I never got around to trying the Mario and Luigi series
