Re: PS5 Will Sell More Than 'Switch 2' In The US This Year, Says Analyst

@Zenibeans Yeah don't get me wrong I'm excited for the console too. Being around long enough I know that Nintendo has struck gold then has done something widely tone deaf. I'm hoping that's not the case and honestly a successor for the switch with a boost in power is really all they need right now. At this point metroid is looking to be one of their primary launch titles for the system. While metroid sales haven't been that massive it'll put some spotlight on that franchise.

If Nintendo can go into the next generation with a stellar launch line up they have nothing to worry about. I remember the launch of the switch when BOTW had more units sold than switches lol

@Zenibeans I don't think you're off base. However, the landscape certainly has changed. Major third party games are now able to be played portably by portable PC's boasting pretty decent specs these days. I haven't ran into one game that hasn't been able to run at 60fps at 1080p on my ROG Ally X.

A big part of owning a switch was having games on the go, something that we didn't have a lot of options for at the time of the Switch's launch. Which I believe will take a chunk of business from people that just want to game on the go.

I really don't know if the Switch 2 will reach the heights of the original switch. The Switch was a standout device at the time of it's launch and now the portable appeal isn't at impactful as it once was due to the multiple options to do just that.

@Fulgor_Astral In all fairness when nintendo puts a spin on things (generally) it hasn't worked. In the most recent years the Wii U was the poster child of that. However, they've dominated the handheld market since the gameboy was around.

I think they're hoping they can keep the success of the switch by not over complicating things. With all of the handheld PC's out though it'll be interesting if they can keep their hold on the market.

@LikelySatan I only ask because I need to know what your perception of a "boost" formula game is to understand where you're coming from as I am trying to reach an understanding. But you still didn't answer my question.

Is the boost formula a result of homing attacks in your opinion? Or is it sloppy platforming as a result of the speed in which you're moving?

My understanding of boost gameplay came after sonic adventure and unleashed came out. Where it was one button to win (being the boost button) and it just obliterated everything and the only time the game felt good was when you were running really fast because the game didn't feel good when it came to platforming.

@Frailbay30 right so 30fps isn't a caveat of portable gaming as games have released at 60fps. This game runs at 60fps on steam deck. The switch is outdated hardware which many developers don't want to spend the extra time to add those shortcuts. And yes I'm very much aware of Nintendo's optimization methods for their console as they should since it's a first party system. But being a portable console has nothing to do if games can run at 60fps or not anymore. The Nintendo switch is just outdated, doesn't mean I dislike the switch. It's just a fact the hardware is outdated.

Re: Poll: Which Dormant Nintendo Franchise Would You Most Like To See Return?

I think Kid Icarus has the potential to be something great. Uprising was a masterpiece hampered by a unique control scheme. The multiplayer was also very interesting, I think if they balanced the weapons it would have been a better experience overall.

Outside of donkey kong country, kid icarus seems to be the game that would benefit from a large scale release.
