Actually looks pretty great, the spritework looks...muddy? Might just be youtube compression or something. But it looks like those GBA titles with a smoothing filter on them. However, I'll reserve my opinion on the art direction until I can play it in hand.
@AstroTheGamosian Dolphin has been around for over a decade, it's also been in retroarch for awhile now which is also on the steam shop. Nintendo has no reason to go after them, and probably won't. Because if they did they wouldn't just go after just one emulator. They'd probably go after every single emulator on the android/IOS store, retroarch, and this. Which Nintendo can't do anything anyway.
Also playing roms isn't illegal either, it's the method in which people obtain/distributes them that makes them illegal.
@Tasuki strawman, because taking someone's personal belongings is completely different than a company taking away the option to purchase a commercially available product.
@Joeynator3000 both games are very much geared towards different players, if you like puzzle games, pocket dungeon is a good pickup.
I for one am not a fan of puzzle games, so while I picked it up because it was a shovel knight game. I didn't enjoy it. Shovel Knight Dig is more of an action platformer in the style of downwell. It's a really good time if you're into platformers but its a rougelite so I know that can turn people off as well.
@Pigeon man I can't believe you're really thinking THAT is how copyright works. Is every sprite based, 2D, sword fighting dungeon crawler a Zelda copyright infringement? No it's not.
Sega doesn't own the rights to cell shading, or spray painting, or roller blading. So unless team reptile straight up took the source code and are using the same characters without permission they're fine. Maybe you should research some basic copy right laws
@Pigeon every single indie game that's "inspired" by another instantly means a company is going to sue over it.
What about this infringes on Sega's trademark? Does Sega own cell shaded minimalistic cartoon designs? Does Sega own the traversal options in this game? Does Sega own the the source code for this game?
@farrgazer Same my guy, I've only played purchased wo long in the last few months because Nioh is one of my favorite games. Starting to realize with age I just don't have the time to play everything.
@DiggleDog Shovelware should be allowed on different platforms, it gives developers a method of making money. However, Nintendo should have a better options to organize the nintendo shop.
@sixrings that's honestly something that I've been hoping for, for years. Looking at games like cadence of hyrule I wonder why they don't throw a bag at more indie developers to get more diverse games out.
Could you imagine what devs like shin'en could do for the f-zero franchise. Or maybe seeing a darker kid icarus platformer made by the guys who developed blue fire. They could really make for some diverse content but Nintendo def holds their IP's tightly so it's sad to see cadence of hyrule be there only real collaborative effort outside of the warriors titles.
Looks pretty good, sometimes I remember those old titles and there's probably good reason they haven't brought them back. Honestly, indie developers are probably the best bet for making spirtual successors for these old nintendo games.
Looking at today's market I feel like it would be tough to charge full price for a rail shooter and a zero gravity racer like fzero without expanding on the formula.
@MetalKingShield I agree, the gamecube was an extremely experimental part of Nintendo's lifetime and arguably perfected many of their existing formulas or vastly improved upon them.
The Zelda's on the system, F-Zero, Mario Strikers, Soul Caliber 2, Eternal Darkness, Paper Mario. These games were top tier nintendo, and I feel like we are finally getting back to that balanced mixture of Nintendo games.
@ActionPanther Right there with you big guy, luckily I've learned after buying all of the games I could ever want. Sometimes just being able to focus on what you have to play is more rewarding then that next big shiny release.
But don't let me kid you I cannot wait for next week!
@PikaPhantom I don't think i'd be as bad as what we think if they implement a decent drop dash and include a more condensed world. Almost like another adventure game lol
@Bizzyb I never understand why people WOULDN'T want a more powerful switch with added functionality. Some people act like the switch is some perfect system and turn a blind eye to the aged hardware. I love my switch, it's easily my most played handheld but I'm not going to sit here and act like I wouldn't ever want nintendo to innovate on it.
@Sam_TSM Yeah the switch sold well, but they have to continue to look towards the future. Most third party titles don't sell insane numbers on switch. Look at monster hunter rise, which is probably the biggest third party game on the switch and it only sold 7.7 million.
Games that aren't developed by Nintendo don't sell crazy numbers on switch and they sacrifice the overall experience to even make it a possibility to develop on switch. So developers have to think about providing the best gaming experience on xbox, playstation, PC or make sacrifices to enable a switch port.
@Maulbert You do know that Nintendo's arguably most hardcore group of fans are generally playing smash bros right?
This gives smash fans a decent option to play wireless without a wavebird. Given that I have small kids now, I can't have my actual GC cords running everywhere.
@LillianC14 They're actually hall sensor joysticks, which are relatively new tech for gaming controllers. They use magnet sensors for inputs instead of your typical joystick.
I couldn't get through three houses cause the art style and the graphical design was very ugly imo. Glad they polished it up for this game. I'll probably end up picking it up.
Tbh we can be disappointed in the result of our favorite characters spot (my boy ryuji is in 9th). However, these are all incredibly written characters.

Looking forward to this one!
Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Final Pre-Launch Trailer Is Absolutely Stunning
It's about time that we got a trailer that didn't make it look so boring. I'd venture to say this is the first real trailer we got on the game.
Re: Nintendo Wants Discord To Reveal Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Art Book Leaker
I bet the guy didn't even use his real account to leak this, they won't even find him.

I'm stupid excited for the fact that purple and white pikmin are coming back, I could cry.
Re: Mini Review: Kraino Origins - Castlevania, Mega Man, And Mario Influences In This Brilliant Retro Platformer
I know all reviews are subjective, but man do I love a bite sized game. The bloodstained retro platformers were a treat, looking forward to this one.
Re: Random: The GameCube & Wii Emulator Dolphin Is Coming To Steam In Q2 2023
@AstroTheGamosian emulators are legal, not sure why that still isn't commonly known amongst nintendo fans.
Re: Acclaimed TMNT Graphic Novel 'The Last Ronin' Is Getting A Video Game
@Tasuki I don't think that's going to happen. A 3D action game would be quite a departure than what Tribute games is known for.
It'll be interesting to hear who's developing it.

Re: PSA: You Only Have One Week To Purchase 3DS And Wii U eShop Games
@Vil It's just the reality of products not being available, everyone is welcome to crucify me as they see fit.
Re: PSA: You Only Have One Week To Purchase 3DS And Wii U eShop Games
@Tasuki not stealing if it's not available for purchase
Re: PSA: You Only Have One Week To Purchase 3DS And Wii U eShop Games
You have a week until it's morally ethical to homebrew lol

Re: Switch Online Missions & Rewards Could Be Getting Metroid Prime Remastered Icons
I miss club nintendo when I'd actually get decent rewards.
Re: Upcoming Retro Shooter 'FUR Squadron' Looks Like Psychedelic Star Fox
@somnambulance the game isn't even out yet, we don't know what other aspects to the game that may expand upon the formula.
Honestly, Nintendo fanboys are only worried about things being "rip offs" as if Nintendo is the only one that can make a space rail shooter.

Link's arm must have been pretty brutally injured. It looks like it burnt down in that last shot.
Re: Quiz: Are You Ready For Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom? Find Out With Our Fiendishly Hard BOTW Quiz
@EarthboundBenjy well said brother, just cause Nintendo wants us to forget about them doesn't mean they aren't magically zelda games anymore.

First question is lame, cause I was considering the CDI games.

Re: Video: One Month In, What Are Your Predictions For The Switch's 2023?
Probably another fire emblem or pokemon
Re: UK Charts: Fire Emblem Engage Tumbles Down To Seventh Place
I'm glad that the game focuses on the gameplay more than anything. 3 Houses was not only ugly but it was tedious, I couldn't get into 3 houses.
Re: Pizza Tower Is Giving Us Serious Wario Land Vibes On PC And Now We Knead It On Switch
@YoshiF2 Honestly it looks like a genuine evolution of the Wario series. Actually really excited to break out the steam deck for it.

Re: Over A Third Of Devs Still Interested In Making Switch Games, According To GDC Survey
@Lizuka Performance is important to gameplay though, and the switch doesn't have enough power to play most games at 60fps.

Re: NYXI Reveals A GameCube-Inspired Switch Controller With No Drifting
@Bunz I thought all buttons on switch controllers could be remapped in the settings? Unless that's only for first party controllers.

@LillianC14 They're actually hall sensor joysticks, which are relatively new tech for gaming controllers. They use magnet sensors for inputs instead of your typical joystick.

@zitpig That's great to hear as I almost exclusively play smash on my switch now. Guess I have a new controller to actually play wireless now.
