Re: Random: The GameCube & Wii Emulator Dolphin Is Coming To Steam In Q2 2023

Chunkboi79

@AstroTheGamosian Dolphin has been around for over a decade, it's also been in retroarch for awhile now which is also on the steam shop. Nintendo has no reason to go after them, and probably won't. Because if they did they wouldn't just go after just one emulator. They'd probably go after every single emulator on the android/IOS store, retroarch, and this. Which Nintendo can't do anything anyway.

Also playing roms isn't illegal either, it's the method in which people obtain/distributes them that makes them illegal.

Re: Shovel Knight Dig 'Fate And Fortune' Free DLC Update Announced

Chunkboi79

@Joeynator3000 both games are very much geared towards different players, if you like puzzle games, pocket dungeon is a good pickup.

I for one am not a fan of puzzle games, so while I picked it up because it was a shovel knight game. I didn't enjoy it. Shovel Knight Dig is more of an action platformer in the style of downwell. It's a really good time if you're into platformers but its a rougelite so I know that can turn people off as well.

Re: Gallery: Team Reptile Teases 'Bomb Rush Cyberfunk' With Brand New Screenshots

Chunkboi79

@Pigeon man I can't believe you're really thinking THAT is how copyright works. Is every sprite based, 2D, sword fighting dungeon crawler a Zelda copyright infringement? No it's not.

Sega doesn't own the rights to cell shading, or spray painting, or roller blading. So unless team reptile straight up took the source code and are using the same characters without permission they're fine. Maybe you should research some basic copy right laws

Re: Upcoming Retro Shooter 'FUR Squadron' Looks Like Psychedelic Star Fox

Chunkboi79

@sixrings that's honestly something that I've been hoping for, for years. Looking at games like cadence of hyrule I wonder why they don't throw a bag at more indie developers to get more diverse games out.

Could you imagine what devs like shin'en could do for the f-zero franchise. Or maybe seeing a darker kid icarus platformer made by the guys who developed blue fire. They could really make for some diverse content but Nintendo def holds their IP's tightly so it's sad to see cadence of hyrule be there only real collaborative effort outside of the warriors titles.

Looks pretty good, sometimes I remember those old titles and there's probably good reason they haven't brought them back. Honestly, indie developers are probably the best bet for making spirtual successors for these old nintendo games.

Looking at today's market I feel like it would be tough to charge full price for a rail shooter and a zero gravity racer like fzero without expanding on the formula.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Metroid Prime Remastered

Chunkboi79

@MetalKingShield I agree, the gamecube was an extremely experimental part of Nintendo's lifetime and arguably perfected many of their existing formulas or vastly improved upon them.

The Zelda's on the system, F-Zero, Mario Strikers, Soul Caliber 2, Eternal Darkness, Paper Mario. These games were top tier nintendo, and I feel like we are finally getting back to that balanced mixture of Nintendo games.

Re: Over A Third Of Devs Still Interested In Making Switch Games, According To GDC Survey

Chunkboi79

@Sam_TSM Yeah the switch sold well, but they have to continue to look towards the future. Most third party titles don't sell insane numbers on switch. Look at monster hunter rise, which is probably the biggest third party game on the switch and it only sold 7.7 million.

Games that aren't developed by Nintendo don't sell crazy numbers on switch and they sacrifice the overall experience to even make it a possibility to develop on switch. So developers have to think about providing the best gaming experience on xbox, playstation, PC or make sacrifices to enable a switch port.
