@RadioHedgeFund Are you serious about smash having a story mode? You're comparing a RPG to a platform fighter.

Any type of fighter needs to focus on the core mechanics, gameplay, and functions of each fighter. Story has either come second or its not relevant to most fighting games. Pokemon is an rpg where story, setting, and aesthetics actually matter.

@AnnoyingFrenzy I can say what I want. Honestly, I didn't say anything insulting towards anyone that bought sw&sh and mentioned that buying a game that is lacking in quality only supports that practice. If you don't like it then tough.

@AnnoyingFrenzy Idc what people spend their money on. I like the pokemon franchise and want to see it improve. So I didn't buy swsh because I don't support rushed/lazy products.

Just means that people that enjoy pokemon are okay with subpar quality and will continue to get games that are uninspired. If everyone is okay with supporting that, then there's no reason for people to complain when a pokemon game is less than stellar.

@AnnoyingFrenzy the problem is that people will buy a pokemon game regardless of "industry" or better yet "Nintendo" level quality. There's no incentive for Gamefreak to improve themselves.

Smash bros has advanced and innovated over the years. Pokemon is still the same stale bread they were selling 20 years ago

@RiasGremory I think people bought pokemon cause it's pokemon.

I really don't want to see it overtaking smash, if it does it will be a sad day. There isn't even a comparison in regards to the quality of the two games.

My switch is great for portable gaming. I will only every buy giant RPGs and Action games for the switch if they are first party. Unless they are games like monster hunter or God eater since my wife can play those with me.

However, dragon quest 11 and Ys 8 will be ps4 type buys for me. Both games bolster incredible scenery and I don't want to sacrifice a clear view on well designed aspects of a grand landscape.

Tbh I wasn't real impressed with their last few offerings. Like there's no reason oninaki should have been $50 at launch. However, I am looking forward to seeing what they have up their sleeves.

@Kalmaro Hyrule Warriors was like almost too overwhelming with stuff to do. I got so annoyed with the rating system as I was trying to unlock everything. I would get two A's and one B and boom it's a B rating overall. Great game though!

@QueenKittenWrite Good point, I would actually be happy about that since now there's more room for surprises! In addition, the direct will have to be jam packed if we got pokemon and Smash out of the way!

@Xylnox Very cool! I haven't touched any of those games, might need to check them out. However, I know what you mean in regards to the backlog. I am currently playing through King Knight, Code Vein, Dark Souls 3, and Control. Scary think is that the only game I would considered to be apart of my backlog is Dark Souls 3 lol.

I would gladly pay 1200 for this system if it plays games flawlessly. I would probably get into pc gaming if this was the case.

I wasn't a big fan of Ni No Kuni 2, I started that right after Ys and it just didn't grab me like I thought it would. However, I would 100% watch an anime based off of it! The world is super charming

@LunarFlame17 Themes are a great addition, honestly I love opening my PS4 to an awesome Monster Hunter Theme with the music playing in the background and Nergigante looking intimidating.

Great list! I only want one more port and that is 3d dot game heroes. Common Atlus let's make it happen!

@justin233 Agreed, the level design in crafted world is pretty boring to me. Wooly World wasn't hard by any means but it had some massive challenges for the special worlds if you wanted all of the special items.

@ToonStuff dang that sucks man. Yeah at that point I wouldn't worry about it. My Wii U is basically non-existant now besides literally THAT ONE GAME. They've ported over almost every game I have ever loved onto the switch. Just give us wonderful 101 please.

@ToonStuff I really think you should dust off your Wii U and give it a go. Honestly it's probably one of the main stellar games for it. It really is an over the top and incredible experience, it's one of my favorite games of all time due to that.

@luxoricious Tbh it reminds me of a time when I was going through probably the toughest time in my life and my wii u was my escape from reality. So the art style is super nostalgic to look back on and reflect on how far I have come. Sorry to get sappy, but you're right the art style has a ton of charm to it

@sixrings I agree but shoot I mean Spiderman Ps4 and God of War look incredible! I think the bigger thing here is the fact that the game runs that smooth on the switch. With limited hardware compared to those systems Shin'en makes master class performances. It's makes some big name studios look silly.

However, I agree graphics and performance play a huge part in gaming. This game runs much better than Links awakening, however, the frame dips in that game aren't too bad for me. I do have to say though, I felt more immersed in this game than what Link's Awakening did and that could be due to the fact it runs so much smoother.

This game is a master class in performance, I am now 79% done with the game and it runs like a charm. I've never seen a chug in gameplay or anything else. If you're into competitive games and looking for a nice break, this is a great place to unwind!

Until you get to the arcade that is...

Okay as someone who loves Ys 8, Persona 5, and Dragon Quest 11. However, got bored af of Octopath would I enjoy this?

@MH4 I know, it's sad to see the shovel knight saga come to an end. However, they have spoiled us. That's my only complaint is that their communication on the 3 pack and king of cards was lacking. I will never argue the quality of their games tho.
