@Tyranexx I honestly dislike the entire concept, especially considering the collectathon nature of the games. It really makes me want to play the games less, honestly, since I usually only play Pokemon when I'm in the mood, and temporarily accessible events aren't going to dictate that. I have the same problem with Overwatch, too, since again, it's just letting me know that I'm gonna miss out on all of this cool stuff just because I either have a life, or have other games that I also want to play...
I always figured if Ninty wasn't gonna step up and put out a multiplayer co-op/MMO Pokemon game, someone else would...heck, I think others have already tried, but they were too...copyright-infringing. Here's hoping this one is handled better in that regard.
And if Nintendo doesn't step up to the plate and show something grand and ambitious with the new Pojemon Switch game? I'd throw money at this in a heartbeat. Doesn't sound all that unlikely, either...
Got it on the PS4 a while back. Only a few levels in, but I thought it was a good Ghosts 'n' Goblins arcade homage, albeit with some of the issues that came with that (am I the only one who felt like G'n'G was hard because of how sluggish and stiff it was?). Not bad for the price I paid...which was, I think, $6 on sale? That's about how much I'd pay in quarters to play it, though in this case, I might eventually see the end...maybe...in a hundred years...
"Absurd" definitely seems to be the best way to describe what I just saw. It has my curiousity, but I'm not a fan of the artstyle, and humor can be very subjective. I'll wait 'n' see...
I remember trying to get into this series on mobile and PC, and just didn't like the control schemes in either of them. Hopefully having a controller helps sort that out.
In other news: Grass is Green, The Sky is Blue, and people would rather feed a blatant dogmatic troll rather than just reporting them, hitting the "ignore" button, and moving on with their lives.
Got it on PC. If the western versions come with a coupon like the JP version does, I'd get VC1 again, but until then...it's a game I already bought and played twice. I'm good.
Never really been sold on this series. I like rail shooters, but not enough to go for one as silly as this, especially without an interesting gameplay hook.
@SMEXIZELDAMAN Oh, that might not such a bummer, if so...you're reminding me that I should ramp up my efforts to learn Japanese...Gundam's 35th Anniversary is only a year away...
YES! I was hoping they'd do a version with Legacy classes, instead of just...Untold III, with marginally upgraded systems (because EOIII has aged surprisingly well) and another garbage story mode for me try for 10 minutes before I go back to Classic mode.
...wait, were the farming classes already confirmed as DLC? Dangit Atlus...there goes my classic EO3 setup...
I think I'll get the PS4 version, though, since...well, most of my time with the MMX games were on Playstation systems. Plus, I'll get it all on one disc, which is more convenient for me.
Sweet. This game is usally better as a portable experience, IMO. Always good for a quick grind when you got the time, or even when you're sick in bed...
...I don't remember hearing that it was a law, I always thought it was requested of them. But I guess it's good to know they have the sense to keep it to a Saturday. These Tuesday/Friday release dates are kind of a pain, IMO, if only because I don't have a car, and can be really busy during a weekday...
The technical improvements in terms of performance are tempting. I'll wait until I can get it on sale before I triple down on this, though. Much like Okami, I just can't justify paying for the same game 3 times...
@manu0 They've assisted with Mario Sports Superstars and Tales of Berseria. They probably also worked on some mobile and browser games, according to their website, but I could barely find them credited for anything...an unproven company, to say the least...
Meanwhile, I'm reminded that people were telling me Nintendo was never gonna do this, and that they'll never do the same with Fire Emblem Warriors...bologna. I'll be picking up this version, since I like complete packages, and I'll gladly wait for FEW to do the same before I delve into it. I think people forget that while it's Nintendo Published, Tecmo Koei still had a hand in their creation...and boy, do they love to milk their games...
OMG that's so cool! I love the ones he picked to paint, too. Zeong as the Neo Geo, GM Command as the PC Engine, Ball as the Gameboy, the original as the Famicom, and the Mark-II as the Super NES (but not the Super Gundam version...would've been too much to paint, I guess). Oh, and mah boi Kampfer as the Sega Saturn! There and Gone, but still living on in our hearts...except the Saturn did well in Japan. @.@
I don't recognize the Mega Drive, though...it's driving me nuts. I figured it was a SUMO with its rounded head, but not even the head looks right...I gotta refresh myself on my mecha...
@Devlind To be fair, it still seems a bit informal. Then again, I miss when the writers could actually post in the forums and talk with the rest of us. Maybe then they wouldn't have to turn the news section into their personal blogs?
Except Call of Duty is a social experience at this point, and its fans usually play on whatever their friends are playing. It could work, but it wouldn't be worth it to Activision-Blizzard...
I remember trying a demo of this last year on the PS3. Really good stuff, from what I saw. Holding out for Builders 2, though. That's got sailing in it.
@JayJ I don't agree, but then again, I don't think I've ever "gotten tired" of an art style, at least, not realistically. I thought I was tired of "realiastic" art styles until I played Uncharted and realized I was tired of lazily designed environments and cookie-cutter characters in throwaway campaigns that are arbitrarily shoehorned into Call Of Duty/Gears of War copycats that failed to understand what it was even those games did right.
Just because something was done a lot or done poorly doesn't mean I should ignore it out of principle, since that ignores the effort the artist put into the visuals. I won't say that there isn't a lot of sprite art games, but...I can't even fathom how that could be a complaint. I've tried to from multiple angles, but it's just...dumb. Not even shallow, even, since if you've stopped at the sprite art to complain that it has sprite art, without considering the overall aesthetic, then you haven't even hit the water - You went to the beach, stopped at the first sign of sand, and decided the water was too cold. It just goes beyond shallow to me. I mean, I can vaguely get not liking sprite art in general, and never finding that they could appreciate it. But the idea of tiring of the aesthetic just sounds...Like you're shutting down something you could like, just because it's...not reiventing the wheel.
I guess I simply don't care for the fact that some people can so easily dismiss a piece of art simply because of the artistic tools in which it was made, even moreso if their complaint is that said tools are too "common". It's like if an art snob sneered at a painting because it used watercolor or oil-based paint, and said "pfft, everyone uses those to paint! I wanna see something new!"
And just so we're clear, I'm aware such mindsets exist. I just really don't don't care for it. Opinions may be opinions, but even opinions are subject to critique...
Still sounds like my thing, but I'll keep in mind that it'll require patience as far as navigation goes. I used to have a high tolerance for that, savoring the exploration. I gotta get in touch with that again, since I prefer these types of games when I want to relax.
@JayJ I'd argue that this game has a visual style all its own. But then again, we're talking about people complaining about good games utilizing a visual method that makes it easier to produce so the small dev team can focus more on making it a good, functioning game...I have no sympathy for their plight.
@Galenmereth ...I don't really see much of a difference there with the portraits. It just looks cleaner and more defined, from what I've seen.
Anywho, I had apparently preordered this alongside SMT: Strange Journey Redux, so I'll have to wait a few months to play this. I'm definitely looking forward to it, though!
Yeah, I'm normally not into this type of "game," but it's interesting nonetheless, and I think there's enough interactivity to keep me from feeling like I'm watching a story unfold instead of being actively involved in it.
I've already had another Shmup that turned into a disappointing grind. I like replaying stages, but I also like being able to move on when I want to if I've already completed a stage. Asking for more just for base progression is the textbook definition of padding.
I'm probably one of the few who really asked for these High-Fi music patches. SNES music always seemed caught in limbo between Orchestra and chiptunes, and it never sat well with me. Keep 'em coming, boys. I'll be making a lot of use outta these with me Retron 5.
Holy crap, this game looks good! I'm hoping for the best. I never played Bravely Second, but I loved Bravely Default, so I already have faith in these devs, and their receptiveness to player feedback.

Wait, was Shantae 10% off or something? $27 seems like a weird amount to launch at, otherwise...
Re: Zerodiv Will Be Bringing The 2D Scrolling Action Of Gunbird 2 To Switch
I actually have this one on the Dreamcast. It was pretty fun, IIRC. Best shmup I had on the DC, at least.
@FX102A I somehow missed that Last Resort was on the Switch. I was waiting for that, thanks.
Re: Review: Gunbird (Switch eShop)
Never got to play this one, only ever found the sequel at a game shop.
