Re: Nintendo Download: 10th August (North America)

CanisWolfred

@Freelance Only problem is, I've read the reviews of the PSP version, which had a botched translation. The only thing I've had to go off of so far are screenshots for this new version, but I haven't seen anything overly bad yet, so maybe it's a complete re-translation? That's why I gotta wait for reviews...no need to find out the hard way, you know?

Re: Review: Hey! Pikmin (3DS)

CanisWolfred

In retrospect, I shouldn't have expected anything amazing. I'll still get it, but I'll have to keep my expectations in check after this (and this review seems generous, in all honesty), and I'll probably wait for a deal somewhere, if possible.

Re: Review: Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star (Switch)

CanisWolfred

I always felt Musou-type games were quick fan-service games...not much to them, but at least they're pretty and remind you of something else you like, that sort of thing. That "Emporer's New Clothes" tagline fits really well, in that when it's not featuring characters and worlds I already adore, I usually can't get into it. It's just really repetitive and there's just nothing to it - no challenge and no real sense of progression. Simply put: I'm not a fan of the Fate series, and I'm pretty sure I'd get bored of it in less than an hour, seeing as I certainly got tired of watching the gameplay footage. Plus, I just hate Type-Moon's writing, so it's not like I'm gonna spend much time with the story. Oh well, at least others are getting into it.

Re: Starlink: Battle for Atlas Makes Big Promises for Switch Release in 2018

CanisWolfred

@JaxonH It's Ubisoft, so...the chances of it showing even Star Fox Zero are probably slim in any area except the controls...at least as a first-release new IP of a platform that they clearly want to milk the hell out of, since it's the only business model Ubisoft knows how operate...

EDIT: Oh wait, this is an Open-World game? Ugh...Ubi does not have a good track record for those...and looking at Ubisoft Toronto's output, they've been involved with some of the worst of them...not that there's no chance for it being good, but I think I was right to keep my expectations low. I mean, I'd love it if we wind up with a more modern Wing Commander with a weird/expensive gimmick, but that's clearly asking for too much...

Re: Sledgehammer Games Has a Definitive Answer on Call of Duty: WWII for Nintendo Switch - "No"

CanisWolfred

Fine, we don't want your game! We don't need it! I can make my own Call of Duty right in my own home! And it'll be way better than yours! Stupid Activision...

Goes into corner and turns on the movie "Saving Private Ryan" while drinking mountain dew and firing off pop-guns, all while an overly complex contraption routinely jabs me in the abdomen everytime 30 seconds, a video of a crazy german guy attempting to sing Miley Cirus songs played on max volume in the backround, and popcorn cooks in a nearby microwave

Now I just need the neighbors to wake up and start pounding on my door yelling obscenities, and I'll have the complete experience in nothing flat. Suck on THAT, Sledgehammer Games!

Re: Sega Forever Manager Blames Mobile Fragmentation For Shortcomings

CanisWolfred

I'm surprised more people don't bring this up...considering how many different devices there are, and how many complaints I've seen with mobile games that varied based on what platforms the individuals were using, it seems like it is a relatively common issue, just...not one I've seen anybody brought up before. I guess everybody just accepts it as part of working on mobile games...

Re: Reggie Fils-Aimé Defends Nintendo's Indie Support and AM2R Policy

CanisWolfred

I'll have to read the full interview later, when I'm not on the can at 2am, but it does sound like an interesting read. I'm still not sure about AM2R being commercial, though. Were they accepting donations? Selling themed merch? I've seen plenty of people do that for other stuff, so I wouldn't be surprised, but if they're talking entirely about the ad revenue due to hits on there site, is that really much of an argument? Again, I'll need clarification to what they were looking at, and I'm sure it was mentioned somewhere. Now I'm just asking hypothetically, could they pull a project just because it garnered a lot of attention?

Re: Capcom Not Confirming Plans for Monster Hunter XX on Switch in the West 'At This Time'

CanisWolfred

@MilitiaMan That puts a lot of stuff into context, not only because of the idea that Sony made a push for it (though with an Xbone and PC version also confirmed, either Sony is forgetting why they reach out to other developers in the first place, or they struck out, but not before Capcom started working on the games). Also, I think it is important to remember that A) this is Capcom. They have never really stayed exclusive to any particular platform, and they have far too many fans spread out on all platformers to change that at the drop of a hat - but also that modern HD, open-world games are still expensive to make. I highly doubt we'll stop seeing handheld Monster Hunter games, though I really hope Capcom gets better about localizing their games...in general. Seriously...

Re: Capcom Not Confirming Plans for Monster Hunter XX on Switch in the West 'At This Time'

CanisWolfred

It's not even out in Japan. As frustrating as it is, Capcom seems to want to stagger the announcemebts so they can get a full year out of their games, and Generations came out in July. Once they see how XX sells in Japan, we might here more about localization plans in September or so, maybe after/during TGS. Obviously with Monster Hunter: World, they want to try to fix the staggered release schedule by having a simultaneous world-wide release, but it seems we're still stuck dealing with the aftermath until that one comes out.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido for 3DS

CanisWolfred

It's a good thing I was already eating, because otherwise that would've made hungry.

Anyways, I want it. I love silly anime-esque ideas like this (Weapon Shop de Omasse springs to mind), and the song they had in the trailer is worth it alone, especially if it's an eShop release. Guess I'll add that one to the list...

Re: Four Horses Is Bringing Kid Tripp To The Nintendo Switch eShop

CanisWolfred

I dunno, I can't shake the feeling that something bad would happen if I bought a game from a company called "The Four Horses." Especially after what happened last summer...

@ImDiggerDan, Make sure you test that game rigorously. There better be less than 20% apocrypha lurking within its codex, or I'm asking for my money (and soul) back.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Ubisoft's Nintendo Switch Reveals at E3 2017?

CanisWolfred

@NandN3ds Damnit, of all the potential responses to my intentionally absurd post, you picked the most boring part to respond to. I'm sure it looks good. As others said, it's a wacky turn-based action-strategy, vaguely reminiscent of X-Com. And that would've been fine on it's own, but they inserted the Rabbids, and that's were my contention lies.

I hate the Rabbids. Everything about them - the look, their games, how hard they were rammed up the publics buttholes during the late 2000's. When they faded from public consciousness, I never wanted to see them come back. It's like meeting the teacher that you molested as a child for the first time in almost a decade, during your sister's wedding. And he's the groom!

...except in this case, the sister would be Mario? Wait, that's odd...wouldn't it be, like, Peach? Unless Mario got a sex-change...ew...I don't want think about that....

...I'm losing my train of thought here. The point is, I am livid that the Rabbids were brought back in a way that I could not even hope to ignore. Yeah. There we go.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Ubisoft's Nintendo Switch Reveals at E3 2017?

CanisWolfred

I am insulted that the Rabbids were resurrected from their graves using the rotting remains of Miyamoto's corpse.

I'm also gravely disappointed that their new potentially awesome sci-fi space combat game now has some toys-to-life gimmick grafted to it, like a sailboat grafted to a Sperm whale. I just...I want to put it out of its misery. I really do.

I'm even more disappointed to find out that Grift Land isn't made by UbiArt...although I guess I only thought that it was Ubi's because I saw it on Gematsu under the Ubisoft oresentation article, not realizing that they post those over an hour in advance.

At least they gave me an excuse to buy Rayman Legends again someday...maybe this time I'll actually play it.

I mean, I really thought the new Assassin's Creed game looked neat, and I'm definitely looking forward to their new Pirate game. Not to mention Beyond Good & Evil 2 was reconfirmed, so it's not all bad...though, I guess those 3 aren't relevent to this site. :T

Re: Review: Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns (3DS)

CanisWolfred

@Miss_Dark I know. I've played it. That wasn't what I was asking about, though. I was talking about the last Story of Seasons game. I really did not like the caravan thing in it, and overall I felt like it took too long to get going. I'm not gonna put up with that again.

Re: Review: Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns (3DS)

CanisWolfred

Well, how does it compare to the last Story of Seasons, then? There were a few elements I didn't like in that one, mostly those trade things. In fact, it just took too long to open up and give the player option, all without actually teaching the player how to do anything...
