I think I'll watch it. It's their last chance to impress me and convince me that it's not just a dumbed down and more generic, Tales-esque version of Xenoblade Chronicles, and instead establish itself as its own game.
I recall not liking the controls and general feel of the game, so I'll be keeping my eye on it...but honestly, I only played the demo before, and I'm not sure how representative that was of the final release...
So are people still going to complain about day-1 updates- yup. Stupid question. I mean, I get it, but in this case, it sounds like the issues were minor to begin with. Considering the scope, it could've been worse. At least it sounds like it won't be a long wait and a major strain on people's micro SD cards...
I'm still hoping to get more into this series, and I guess this is another one to add to the list. Not sure I like the graphical style of this one, mind you, but I could see it growing on me...
I'll at least consider it on sale. It sounds very enjoyable, but even I'm not that bad with money...even back in the day, I'd expect a few weekend rantals ouint of this rather than a (budget) retail price. Well, at least consumers can vote with their wallets, at any rate.
Doesn't seem like my thing, but at least it's an option if I want Survival on the Go...and I didn't bring my Vita. IDK, I think I've just got more of these kinds of games than I need as it is...
Nice try, but not even kitsune chicks in bikinis could win me back at this point.
Maybe.
...I mean, depending on how the in-game model looks, and if she has a decent voice actress that isn't stupidly annoying...
Bah, who am I kidding? I might actually care about Tales of Xenoblades eventually because of this...just gotta give the boys on Pixiv time to "convince me"...
Forgot this was out. I'll keep an eye out for it, for now I gotta save up for the holidays...really starting to see why Xmas always stressed out my family...kinda counter-intuitive, if you ask me...
Sweet, I'll try to keep this in mind when I get a Switch. Reminds me of Legend of a River King a bit, but not to the point where I'd rather play that instead. Seems like enough of its own thing.
...but yeah, it's a fun game. Updates the old style without taking away from what made them iconic in the first place. Never did try the multiplayer, but it looked fun. I needed to make space for more Overwatch patches, though, so I had to delete it on my PS4...I really need a new harddrive for that thing...
@Damo I did. Seriously, it's a continuation of the Sonic Generations concept, so why not include Shadow? Like him or not, he was a big part of the series for a while, and Sonic Forces is celebrating a lot of Sonic's history.
...I mean, I don't really care for Basketball sims, but I'm obligated to say this considering they how often big publishers release buggy games like this, assuming that people who buy it will have ready access to the internet to download the patches they put out later down the line. More than a little anti-consumer in my opinion.
I'm glad some like it, but I still can't help but look at this and say "what's the point?" I've got enough JRPGs that are more interesting, including monster raising games, that I just don't see what makes this appealing. If I want Monster Hunter, I'll play Monster Hunter. If they're gonna make a spin-off, I'd rather they use it as an opportunity to make something unique and distinct.
...wait, who thought this was comparable to No Man's Sky? No Man's Sky didn't have "Low-Poly Visuals", nor does this seem to be a "romp around the universe for no good reason outside of sheer self-motivated curiousity and individual goals" type of game, a-la Elite. This looks a lot more like Ratchet & Clank or Metroid Prime - which I see even the dev name-drops.
I mean, I'm glad the dev went out of their way to answer questions and tell us more about the game, but I'm just sort of amazed at how people can pull these sort of statements out of their bumhole and still get taken seriously. The initial trailer and press release were enough to debunk the No Man's Sky comparisons, at least in terms of what was actually unique to that game, and not just increasingly prevelent trends that space exploration games are incorporating (not just Indie games, either. Even games like Mass Effect: Andromeda is arguably more similar considering what they've said here and before).
Whatever, this game does look interesting, although I'll have to look for extended footage after it's out, since I honestly hate the low-poly look. At least in first person, since I find that everything sort of blends together, and it becomes increasingly difficult to tell what I'm looking at as things progress. Not exactly something you want when something can pop out and kill you at a moment's notice.
Kind of surprised that you even bothered with the review with a game that, as far as I could tell, looking at the Steam page, had an extensive online component (arguably the draw, if not at least a major component), but I guess it'll give me a chance to see the potential difference in opinion between a game that's experienced totally singleplayer, and the later experience after playing the online mode.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Just to note: review standards have changed since 2007-9, and there's a chance something like Break In or Legend of Hero Tenma would be better recieved. I mean, the biggest complaint about Break In I saw in that review was that it was a no-frills Pool Game, which doesn't necessarily mean it's bad, just...not exceptional.
Some nice surprises I didn't expect. I'm already looking forward to Suda51's collaboration and the last Shovel Night DLC/side-story, but I didn't expect to find something Battle Chef or Golf Story interesting until I saw them. After The Legend of the River King and Weapons de Omasse, I think I'm up for more quirky twists on the RPG formula. I still like the classic formula, however, so Lost Sphear has my interest as well.
Gear.Club Unlimited also looks like it'll fill a much needed niche in the Switch's library. Definitely keeping my eye on that one.
Also, Dandara looks fresh as heck for what could've easily been yet another sprite-based platformer.
Not sure how I feel about Inti Create's new game, though. Normally Co-Op-focused RPGs bore the heck out of me. I'd need more info, I guess.
Huntdown looks pretty sick, can't wait for that one. Petroglyph's also been kind to me in the past, so I'll be keeping an eye on their Lego RTS there.
...wait, that's supposed to be 8-bit? Bullcrap!...well, I guess that's one way to avoid a lawsuit. <_<
Anyways, while there are some really out-there games on that list, most of those aren't my bag, so I guess I'll be boring and list the all the usual highlights that caught my interest:
SteamWorld Dig 2 (Image & Form) Monster Boy And The Cursed Kingdom (FDG Entertainment) Yoku's Island Express (Team 17) AWAY: Journey to the Unexpected (Playdius) Hollow Knight (Team Cherry) Battle Chasers: Nightwar (THQ Nordic) Owlboy (D-Pad Studio) State of Mind (Daedalic Entertainment) World To The West (Rain Games) Rogue Trooper Redux (Rebellion) WarGroove (Chucklefish) TINY METAL (Area 34) Portal Knights (Keen Games) Brawlout (Angry Mob Games) Constructor Plus (System 3)
I am probably one of the few people who are actually looking forward to this...and yet, like those others, I'm probably just in it for the lesbians...although, I think that might've only been in Fear Effect 2...

Lords of Thunder!!! YES!!! That's the game I've been waiting for (and Ys, but hey, I'll take what bones I can get)

Re: Review: This Is The Police (Switch)
This honestly sounds more interesting than I first expected, but I'm not sure I'd stick with it.
Re: Review: Robo Army (Switch / Neo Geo)
This sounds right up my alley! Another Neo Geo gem that slipped past my radar, I really got to tweak that thing.
Re: Review: Hive Jump (Wii U eShop)
I'm disappointed, but tbh, I noticed a lot of these issues in the trailers. It's a shame they couldn't pull it together in the end.
Re: Review: Pankapu (Switch eShop)
Tighten up the controls, and I could see this becoming a cult classic. I love where they're going with this, though, so I might pick it up regardless.

Re: Review: Rogue Trooper Redux (Switch eShop)
Never heard of it, but I'm definitely interested now.
Re: Review: Poi: Explorer Edition (Switch)
Good to know I'll have options. Sometimes one or two games isn't enough to scratch that collect-a-thon itch.
Re: Review: Fire Emblem Warriors (Switch)
@onex That's a shame.
Re: Review: Fire Emblem Warriors (Switch)
"...but we imagine that DLC will redress the balance moving forward..."
So, what you're saying is: I should wait for the complete edition? Okay.

Re: Review: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (Switch)
Had a great time with the first Xenoverse, liking the second. Hope you guys have a good time, too.
Re: First Impressions: Hell in a Handbasket - DOOM on Nintendo Switch
Finally, Nintendo is truly DOOMED!!!!
...but yeah, it's a fun game. Updates the old style without taking away from what made them iconic in the first place. Never did try the multiplayer, but it looked fun. Re: Nintendo Download: 21st September (North America)
POKEMON! Lord, have I missed you!
Also, I picked up Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 a few weeks ago on the PS4, good stuff. Have fun with that you guys!

Very curious to see how Earthlock turned out after all this time.
Re: Review: Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS)
Holy crap, I forgot this was coming out this week!
Re: Check Out a New NES Game - Amazon's Running Diet
Looks like something the dev made the day before the anniversary, after waking up in a stranger's bed with a bad hangover.
...with that in mind: not bad. Hope someone uploads the BGM somewhere, I'd love to hear it without the sound effects.

Sure, I'm game. NMH2 had some decent mini-games, and I liked those Level-5 collections that we got piecemeal.

TINY METAL (Area 34)

Constructor Plus (System 3)
Hearty list, at least. A lot to look forward to.
Re: Nintendo Download: 24th August (North America)
If I had a Ninty Switch, I'd be all up for forma.8 and the Pokken Tournament DX Demo, but I don't so...nothing for me. :/
Re: Review: Severed (Switch eShop)
I already own this on 3 different platforms, though...this doesn't seem to add much, either.
Re: Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Pirate Queen’s Quest Launches on 29th August
Hah! Saw a few weapons from Pirate's Curse. This outta be good.
