@Ralizah I noticed that, but that just makes them habitual liars, and that ticks me off, too. Like I said, I already gave up on them years ago because they kept saying it wouldn't come to consoles. If they're just doing it to drum up more sales of the PC version when they're game is clearly trying to bank on old-school console nostalgia, by lying about future content, then to me that shows a stark disconnect between the game's creators and their intended market. At this point why should I even bother giving them my time, money, and attention to see if they'll change their minds later down the road? I know I've said that about Capcom...and yeah, sometimes when Capcom goes back on their word, it's too little, too late, and everyone else has moved on. People got better things to do, that's why the non-commital or open-minded responses are the better option, if flat-out honestly is still somehow out of the question. Unless we get a better explanation soon, I'll just move on.
Oh, I remember this game now! It was the game I stopped caring about because it seemed like it was never coming to consoles. Maybe I'll give it another look?

Huh. Seemed a bit tame until the DLC content. That actually sounds rad, and might alleviate the lack-of-content problem I see people had with it (reminds me of Yooka-Laylee there, too. Yeesh...). @BLD I remember Ike because he was in the first Fire Emblem game I played...I didn't like it, but I remembered it, and it made him stand out. I'm not saying his visual design is any better, I'm saying my own personal attatchment is the only reason he stands out to me in the first place, and the further piling-on of samey-looking FE protags just muddies the water. Smash Wii U added a bunch, but the only one that stood out visually was the one who...has a male form and female form for some reason? Was that supposed to be the player character? "with each fighter having their own set of stages and opponents that she or he will face"
Yes! Halleluya!
I always loved adventure modes in Smash games, but that was mostly because they added diversity over the classic modes, which were often either randomized, or incredibly formulaic in nature, and considering the cast size, that would've gotten old really quick. Since this will inevitably take up most of my time with it, I'm now officially interested in this game.
Now this is the sort of news that'll get me excited for Smash Ultimate! Really need some diversity to the Smash formula if you expect me to mess around with 100+ stages and characters, and I'm liking the sounds of these. I'm still most excited for Classic mode, if only because the singleplayer in Smash Wii U was so barebones, even if it doesn't look like it'll go full Subspace Emissary on us.
One of the rare times that motion controls helped the game, if only because drawing with control sticks is really hard, especially those ever-useful bombs. This sounds like it circumvents the issues the Wii version had, though, so I'll gladly pick this one up.
@Djgoa It's nothing like any of those. It's faster-paced, combo/juggle-friendly, has a 3-button system like Persona Arena, and is much more over-the-top than either Street Fighter or King of Fighters. I love those games, but this is a very different beast. Mind you, I haven't played it yet (waiting for a complete pack because I don't have infinite money), but as I understand it, since I have played the 3 games that it pulls characters from. Simply being a weapon-based fighting game already adds a lot of quirks, since different weapons mean different ranges, and every character has their unique abilities. Then add in the 2v2 tag team mechanics, and you'll have a lot that sets it apart from Street Fighter just from the on-set.
I mean, it might not actually be intimidating to get into, crossovers like this are usually meant to be more forgiving and give each franchise more exposure to new audiences, but I really have no idea about this particular case.
...Oh....she was a Senran Kagura character? It was kind of hard to tell, because she looks like everyone else.
That's kind of my problem here: Senran Kagura has a surprisingly bland cast that really would not fit in with the likes of BlazBlue or Under Night In-Birth, nor are the games themselves well-written enough to make them as endearing as the cast of RWBY or Persona. Even if they make them fun to play, I'd have a hard time convincing myself to play them over Ragna, Akihiko, Jubei, or even any of the DLC characters they just announced here. I don't even know who Mika or Merkava are, but they look so cool that I have to try them out!
I mean, I'd make comparisons to SK, but I honestly don't know any of the characters names or remember if any of them had any standout features, because I spentmost of those games referring to everyone by whatever trope or fetish they're meant to embody, before I became utterly bored with the whole thing. There's nothing interesting about them whatsoever. I mean, I could say the same about 2/3rds of Arcana Hearts' cast, but at least it's an interesting and fun game that stands out in an already crowded genre.
SK 1 & 2 were just pretty bland Beat 'em ups that left me wishing I was playing any of the dozen or so Beat 'em ups that I've enjoyed over the years. It was more combo-focused, but so was Dragon's Crown. It had cutaways for special moves, but that just killed the flow of the game. Also Guilty Gear Judgment did that, too. The clothes-ripping did nothing for me, because I've played Hentai games that took that mechanic even further, and quite frankly, some of them had better graphics. Nothing about the games, from their characterization and flimsey storylines, to its gameplay, really do much of anything to make me care about its characters. Especially considering how much they seem to want you to care about them, pumping out spin-off after spin-off that only seems to carry over the generic, hyper-sexualized cast and an emphasis on blueballs-inducing fanservice.
That's what I meant when I said, "I would take literally any other franchise they could add over Senran Kagura." - there are so many options that could be interesting, that Senran Kagura's inclusion would come off as scraping the bottom of the barrel. They're kind of popular I guess? But so is Love Live. Wouldn't that be a total left-field move? How would that work out? I'd pay money to see that, and I don't even like Love Live.
Seriously, I could be here all day, but my point's been thoroughly made. I really hope those were just unused assets for a scrapped cameo, and we'll get something more interesting instead.
I mean, I'd be happy if I were wrong, because I would take literally any other franchise they could add over Senran Kagura...but I don't see what else that could've been used for since Arc Sys doesn't own that series.
I'm actually not okay with this, and now I'm going to spend the rest of my life trying to unsee this. I don't know why people seem to think a person getting literally emasculated by having them turned into another gender against their will funny, especially when it's rarely there to be funny, but instead is just altering the look of an established male character to make them more sexually appealing to male audience members, but I just find it gross and an outright degregation of one of my favorite characters.
I knew Terry was going to be in this, but there were so many other ways they could've done it that would've been actually silly and fit the tone they were going for. Now they've just established that it's a sexy game, not a silly one. And I want nothing to do with it.
Yeah, I couldn't stand this one. I have my issues with Dark Souls, too, but I didn't find anything redeeming about how this games was designed. There's barely any story, sure, but I wasn't sold on the atmosphere. The way you recruit shopkeepers and the like just felt like a chore. I HATED the progression system, which just took all the wrong queues from RPGs and made it feel even less actin-oriented than Dark Souls, but it's clearly there to make up for the boring combat system. As it turns out, when you take out an entire dimension of movement from the equation when you're copying Dark Souls gameplay wholesale, you're left with a game that's a lot less interesting than Dark Souls was. Whodathunkit?!
Seriously, it's a lame wannabe that's every bit as arduous and unfairly designed as Dark Souls, with simpler gameplay and worse presentation. There's no reason to get this if you have any soft of alternative. Heck, I think there might already be better challenging, exploration-focused platformers available on the Switch right now. Hollow Knight's there, right?
Also according to the source, they shut down a similar repository with a similar name a few years ago, and there are still plenty of others. ROM sites are like a Hydra. Chop one down, and two or three others appear in its place...
...and what a coincidence, it's gonna be raining a ton this entire week where I live. Granted, this looks like it needs to be played in VR, so I'd wait until I had PSVR or whatever, at least now I'll have a harder time forgetting it until then...unless it gets extra stormy and the power goes out for a long time...then the connection will ensure that I never play it, ever...
$75 for a "starter edition" to a game platform from a company notorious for buggy launches and demanding a lot of money for something that'll be replaced in no time at all pretty much deflates any hype I could possibly have for this. I love Star Fox, but he deserves better than this, and I'm honestly just gonna replay literally any of his other games if I need something to scratch a Star Fox itch...
Yeah, I remember when I was like, 8, and took on Brock with just a Pidgey and a Charmander...freakin' roasted his butt...I know that was a different time, but there are other ways to go about teaching players about typing and how Gyms usually use specific types. Most of the series relied on things like the Pokemon School or the professor's assistants/random folks in town to convey things like status ailments and type advantages/disadvantages. Really don't see how that would be so hard. Nevermind that the gyms are essentially there to showcase specific types and encourage strategizing around it, which doesn't necessary require using specific types. Isn't this supposed to be a remake of Pokemon Yellow? What about Nidoran? They should still be able to learn double kick, right? That's how I always beat Brock.
Plus, it's not like losing the first few times means anything when you can just save beforehand and turn the console off if you lose...
Nothing about this approach makes sense. If it's there to convey information, they already do that without withholding progress. If later gyms provide additional variables like sidequests...they could just throw in genuine side quests. It's not more content, it'd just be a minor inconvenience more likely than not.
I almost bought this so many times, but after watching others play it, it's clear to see that it's not my kind of game. I hate to say it, but being able to memorize patterns and level layouts goes a long way in making the challenges offered seem enjoyable, rather than purely frustrating, to the point where I'd probably just feel defeated after a while. That's always been my beef with random level design, though, it only seems to work in a game where the point is to get more powerful, and that kind of experience goes against why I would play a platformer.
@Wexter Honestly, I don't think even Camelot has the right talent left to make a new Shining game work. The series has been in this weird quasi-existance for too long now, it's probably not worth trying to revive the old style of play. All I want is a full english release of Shining Force III to properly end the series, at least by my measure. Send it off in style, not just stretching it out so thin you can see the light shine through...
Wait, why were people excited for this all of a sudden?
...Oh, it's not the fighting game in the Shining franchise, it's just yet another one of the derivative Action-RPGs with dating sim elements. I mean, I guess if you're desparate for a Tales-Like RPG, I could see why someone might be interested in it, but...
I'm up to my armpits in Tales games, Ys games, you name it. And so many of them probably have more interesting and memorable stories, why would I even think of choosing a game like this, that doesn't even try to stand out? I'll just save myself $60 and play what I got...
@Agramonte Then keep in mind that "major" has a lot of different meanings, especially if its from the perspective of a company. For a developer, this could mean a lot of work for them, regardless of how popular it is.
Of course, there could still be a 4th game in the works, as others have pointed out. Just figured I'd offer a different pont of view. I often find that can help massage the sting that comes from disappointment.
@Cobalt So what you're saying is...you've created a fantasy for yourself, and you want to share it with us, but at the same time, you don't want it criticised? Okay. I mean, I don't see what any of what you've stated, from the Wii U having more of an Identity than the Nintendo Switch, based on criteria that only seems to exist in your head (The Wii U had a public image problem, but that is clearly not what you're basing it on, otherwise you'd be saying something we could easily refute just by comparing advertisements and sales, instead of something that is purely your own opinion), somehow connects with this announcement of a port of a Free-to-Play game that you're clearly not interested in...
@Agramonte It's changed a lot over the years, FYI. It's a free game that offers more content than some modern AAA $60 games, and I don't feel that I'm exaggerating in the slightest. It's not perfect, but it'd be a major endeavor for Panic Button, to say the least.
@roy130390 True, I guess that's a good point. I still remember watching a few videos and not really "getting it", but was still intrigued. Mostly because it was compared to Destiny, but with much better mechanics and certainly more content. It already has a few mission types that feel like entire games were grafted to it, and more were recently announced. Videos will certainly help, but there's just so much ground to cover even right off the bat that I could see it as being easily overwhelming...though, that's what got me hooked. It's just got a lot to do, and I found most of it fun to do.
Only thing I'll say is that Kuva missions are still a pain because they explain absolutely nothing about how to do it. It wouldn't be so bad if the Lotus actually gave you a hint instead of gawking...I know what to do now, but a lot of times I'll get into groups that haven't figured it out yet, and I don't have time to explain it...
@roy130390 Yeah, Warframe is allergic to tutorials. Moreso than a "beginner's guide", I'd just recommend bookmarking the Wiki and looking things up as you get to it, because there's a lot to it. It's just a game that has been designed as the devs went, and they haven't had time to go back and redo the early quests to make them more relevent to what Warframe is now. Even the starter Warframes don't have comprehensive ability information in-game (Mag is a terrible starter frame just because of how complicated her abilities are, IMO, and I only recently figured out that Excalibur's Radial Blind works on Sentients despite them otherwise being status-immune, thanks to the Sacrifice necessitating Blind spam). For me at least, I don't think I could've gotten that far without it, though I didn't really get into a decent clan until a few days ago.
@DownRightSam Really? If so, maybe it works differently for Warframe. I just figured it was thing with all PS4 games. I certainly couldn't get my Hi-Rez stuff transferred to PC...but I never really had a reason to try Warframe on PC...
EDIT:
I looked it up to verify, and...you can't transfer accounts, so...I dunno if you made a new account or not, but I have put too much time and money into my PS4 Warframe account to abandon it now and start over. Unless things change by the time the Switch version comes out, I'll have to just stick to talking about it with people on the forums. It's a complicated game, anyways...
Saw that on the TennoLive stream. A lot of very exciting announcements, and as someone who has been wholey obsessed with this game for the past several months, I'm glad that other people here will be able to enjoy it as I have.
With that said, Panic Button is in for quite the endevour. It's a massive game now, with lots of moving parts layered atop another. It's not a super-buggy game or anything, but I'm curious as to how they'll handle the port, especially with all the new content they just announced - two of which are practically entire games slapped on! I mean, I'm looking forward to the next cinematic quest the most, since the story has been surprisingly good so far, but that spaceship mode they just showed looks like hardly anything else in the game right now, and the new open world area looks genuinely huge!
Well, I certainly wish them the best of luck, and I look forward to welcoming all the new Tenno that arrive via the Switch.
...in Spirit, at least. I'm a PS4 player. Sony's got my account held hostage just as bad as the Paladins and Fortnite players.
I thought this looked familiar! Been a long time since I've seen it. Not sure if I'd go for a co-op shmup, but it still might be fun, and the music is divine!
It looks like garbage. It looked like garbage when it originally released on the PS Vita, and the "HD" version did nothing to help the graphics. The great robot designs really were wasted on this game. Other than that, it looks like a very simple co-op hoard shooter. The mech customization almost got me to bite several times, but I'd rather deal with that in either a tactically-oriented game, or in a game like Armored Core, where it has a distictive feel to it that makes the customization more satifying.
I haven't actually played it, though. Just one of those games that sounds great on paper, but I have yet to see any video that did it any favors. It just doesn't look appealing to me.

Re: Nine New Characters Are Joining The Fight In BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle
Dataminers already found evidence of Senran Kagura characters potentially being added months ago: http://shoryuken.com/2018/05/16/datamining-of-blazblue-cross-tag-battle-announcer-voice-reveals-possible-senran-kagura-guest-characters/
I mean, I'd be happy if I were wrong, because I would take literally any other franchise they could add over Senran Kagura...but I don't see what else that could've been used for since Arc Sys doesn't own that series.
Re: Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard Has Been Transformed Into A “Fatal Cutie” In SNK Heroines
Re: Review: Salt and Sanctuary (Switch eShop)
Re: Review: Iconoclasts (Switch eShop)
@Indielink He meant he was burned by Code of Princess, not the review...I've definitely been there...
Re: Nintendo Shuts Down JavaScript GBA Emulator Hosted On Development Platform
Also according to the source, they shut down a similar repository with a similar name a few years ago, and there are still plenty of others. ROM sites are like a Hydra. Chop one down, and two or three others appear in its place...
Re: Megaton Rainfall Will Bring First-Person Superhero Action To Switch Next Month
...and what a coincidence, it's gonna be raining a ton this entire week where I live. Granted, this looks like it needs to be played in VR, so I'd wait until I had PSVR or whatever, at least now I'll have a harder time forgetting it until then...unless it gets extra stormy and the power goes out for a long time...then the connection will ensure that I never play it, ever...
Re: Daemon X Machina Avoids Photorealistic Visuals In Favour Of Colourful Anime Art
Oh God, that headline...the article is about why they chose the artstyle, but you made it sound like the fact that it has a colorful art was the news.

Re: Hands On: Starlink Scratches That Star Fox Itch, But We're Not Sure Who It's For
$75 for a "starter edition" to a game platform from a company notorious for buggy launches and demanding a lot of money for something that'll be replaced in no time at all pretty much deflates any hype I could possibly have for this. I love Star Fox, but he deserves better than this, and I'm honestly just gonna replay literally any of his other games if I need something to scratch a Star Fox itch...
Re: Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee Will Have Extra Requirements To Take On Gyms
Re: Metal Gear Movie Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts Wants To Make A "Crazy" Metroid Movie
Whoa!.........they're making a Metal Gear movie? When did that happen?
@Tempestryke I liked Rise of Darkrai, too. Hadn't followed the Pokemon Anime since Hoenn, but it still entertained me.
Re: Review: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (3DS)
I might grab this version down the line.
Re: Review: 20XX (Switch eShop)
I almost bought this so many times, but after watching others play it, it's clear to see that it's not my kind of game. I hate to say it, but being able to memorize patterns and level layouts goes a long way in making the challenges offered seem enjoyable, rather than purely frustrating, to the point where I'd probably just feel defeated after a while. That's always been my beef with random level design, though, it only seems to work in a game where the point is to get more powerful, and that kind of experience goes against why I would play a platformer.
Re: Review: Shining Resonance Refrain (Switch)
@Wexter Honestly, I don't think even Camelot has the right talent left to make a new Shining game work. The series has been in this weird quasi-existance for too long now, it's probably not worth trying to revive the old style of play. All I want is a full english release of Shining Force III to properly end the series, at least by my measure. Send it off in style, not just stretching it out so thin you can see the light shine through...
Re: Panic Button Is Porting Online Co-Op Hit Warframe To Nintendo Switch
@Cobalt Thank you for making it clear that you're an unreasonable person. I wasn't sure at first, but now I don't have to waste anymore of my time.
Re: Review: Shining Resonance Refrain (Switch)
Wait, why were people excited for this all of a sudden?
...Oh, it's not the fighting game in the Shining franchise, it's just yet another one of the derivative Action-RPGs with dating sim elements. I mean, I guess if you're desparate for a Tales-Like RPG, I could see why someone might be interested in it, but...
I'm up to my armpits in Tales games, Ys games, you name it. And so many of them probably have more interesting and memorable stories, why would I even think of choosing a game like this, that doesn't even try to stand out? I'll just save myself $60 and play what I got...
Re: Panic Button Is Porting Online Co-Op Hit Warframe To Nintendo Switch
@Agramonte Then keep in mind that "major" has a lot of different meanings, especially if its from the perspective of a company. For a developer, this could mean a lot of work for them, regardless of how popular it is.
Of course, there could still be a 4th game in the works, as others have pointed out. Just figured I'd offer a different pont of view. I often find that can help massage the sting that comes from disappointment.
Re: Panic Button Is Porting Online Co-Op Hit Warframe To Nintendo Switch
Re: Panic Button Is Porting Online Co-Op Hit Warframe To Nintendo Switch
@Agramonte It's changed a lot over the years, FYI. It's a free game that offers more content than some modern AAA $60 games, and I don't feel that I'm exaggerating in the slightest. It's not perfect, but it'd be a major endeavor for Panic Button, to say the least.
Re: Panic Button Is Porting Online Co-Op Hit Warframe To Nintendo Switch
Re: Panic Button Is Porting Online Co-Op Hit Warframe To Nintendo Switch
Re: Panic Button Is Porting Online Co-Op Hit Warframe To Nintendo Switch
Re: Panic Button Is Porting Online Co-Op Hit Warframe To Nintendo Switch
Re: Aksys Games Announces Stardust Galaxy Warriors: Stellar Climax For Switch
I thought this looked familiar! Been a long time since I've seen it. Not sure if I'd go for a co-op shmup, but it still might be fun, and the music is divine!
Re: Fast-Paced Mech Battler Assault Gunners HD Edition Arrives On Switch This Week
@Tsurii Actually yes, I do have opinions!
