Developed by Raven Travel Studios, Cast of the Seven Godsends is arriving on Switch later this week, bringing a dose of classic 2D, run ’n gun, action-shooter gameplay along for the ride.
The evil emperor Zaraaima has kidnapped the infant heir to the land of Dareca. King Kandar must call upon the aid of the seven gods of Dareca as he traverses the six worlds of his kingdom in a bid to save his son, battling his way through dark woods, slimy swamps, sinister mills, infernal volcanos, snowy mountains, golden cities and demonic castles. To help complete this quest, you can use god-given armour, wield different weapons, and cast fanatical spells.

Here are some key features of the game:
Features
Easy controls - only two buttons to play (shoot and jump)
Six very different and long worlds to conquer
Checkpoint save positions throughout worlds
Five basic weapons to master
Seven god-like armour sets
15 different bonus items to boost your hero
Thirty-five magic combat spells to utilise
Over 50 different enemies
Twelve mid and end-of-level bosses
Four difficulty levels

Cast of the Seven Godsends is scheduled for release on 3rd May in both Europe and North America, and will be priced at $12.99 / £9.99 / €12.99. The game has received mostly positive reviews on Steam, so it will be interesting to see how it performs on Switch.

55% metacritic.
'in its current state it is largely unplayable thanks to the frame-rate working against you all the time.' says one reviewer.
No duh - the framerate makes it looks unplayable. An avoid for me.
Not a good game at all, it could be but it feels unfinished. jerky animation and movement ruin it.
I was just coming to say it looked kinda sexy, but the framerate police have killed my horn.
Liked the look of it. Reminds me a bit of ghosts and goblins.
Was slammed on steam upon release.
@gcunit I wouldn't put much value in a couple of whiners and those six negative reviews on Metacritic, making up that aggregate score of 55%, while it received mostly positive reviews on Steam, from both an actually known source (giving it a score of 7 out of 10) AND many users, 53 in total, to be exact.
And besides: the negative scores mostly come from the initial release in 2015, and the positive ones come from the so-called Redux version, which was released later.
Seeing as this game is only coming to the Switch now, after already having been released on PC multiple years ago, I think it's safe to say that the Switch version is also going to be the improved one.
So, seems to me that nothing much was actually killed. Go ahead and let it all out...
"Six very different and long worlds" feels like it's trying to hard too push that point.
I played through a demo level of this on PS4 or Xbox One quite a while ago. I thought the main character’s movement was quite sluggish and stiff. Even though it was cheap, I passed.
Got it on the PS4 a while back. Only a few levels in, but I thought it was a good Ghosts 'n' Goblins arcade homage, albeit with some of the issues that came with that (am I the only one who felt like G'n'G was hard because of how sluggish and stiff it was?). Not bad for the price I paid...which was, I think, $6 on sale? That's about how much I'd pay in quarters to play it, though in this case, I might eventually see the end...maybe...in a hundred years...
Looks awesome but i hear framerate problems, i dont even touch it if its anything less than 60fps consistent.
@dunnyone That was for the PC version, the Switch version seems to run smoothly. Check the videos.
