Often described as the Japanese Star Wars, Mobile Suit Gundam is one of the longest-running sci-fi properties in the Far East and has millions of fans all over the globe.
Gamers will of course be intimately familiar with the franchise thanks to the multitude of officially-licensed games that have appeared on practically every gaming system over the years, but a Japanese model fan has taken the relationship between games and Gundam to the next level with a series of custom-painted figures.
These model kits have been painted to match classic systems like the SNES / Super Famicom, PC Engine, Game Boy, Famicom, Neo Geo, Sega Saturn and Mega Drive. The level of detail is stunning.

shoulda made 'em transformers. jsut saying.
@Jamotello I'd buy a SNES that turned into a robot.
I gotta admit, those are pretty neat!
Though....What's a Famciom? Is that a knockoff system of sorts?
The Mega Drive looks really menacing and the Saturn looks like a total war machine!
The Neo Geo version of the Zeong could double as a pun...
Also I just noticed the Game Boy Balls have Tetris on their cockpits.
@Damo The “Famciom” one sure looks good...😉
Gundamn that's cool.
Really liking the oversized Neo-Geo and pure white PC Engine models, the other I guess are more predictable but just as nice.
Love the SNES Mk II, PC Engine GM Command and Neo Geo Zeong.
I’m guessing the Kampfer is the Sega Saturn?
Odd choice of the Sumo as the Mega Drive. Turn-A failed to grab me.
OMG that's so cool! I love the ones he picked to paint, too. Zeong as the Neo Geo, GM Command as the PC Engine, Ball as the Gameboy, the original as the Famicom, and the Mark-II as the Super NES (but not the Super Gundam version...would've been too much to paint, I guess). Oh, and mah boi Kampfer as the Sega Saturn! There and Gone, but still living on in our hearts...except the Saturn did well in Japan. @.@
I don't recognize the Mega Drive, though...it's driving me nuts. I figured it was a SUMO with its rounded head, but not even the head looks right...I gotta refresh myself on my mecha...
Transform, and roll out!!
Wait--
@Tyranexx The Famicom is what the NES was called in Japan, it stands for Family Computer. They changed the name and color scheme for localization.
I just saw the wink emoji and realize that was probably a joke dang
@MH4: It was, but no worries. I was poking fun at a typo in the original title for this article (hence the misspelling). It seems to be fixed now.
This is bloody awesome! Two of my favorite things, games and Gundam, combined! I enjoy building Gunpla but I am scrub tier, I just build them straight out of the box with minimal customization.
@Tyranexx I didn't see the misspelling! That's probably why I didn't get it at first. 😅
