Re: Sega Forever Isn't Just About Smartphone Games Anymore

BlueNitrous

When Sega says "retro", they usually mean releasing the same 30 Genesis and early arcade games. I would love to see some actual support for Saturn, Dreamcast and later arcade games. Sega has such a strong backlog of games that they choose to ignore for whatever reason.

Re: Dark Souls Remastered To Feature Improved Frame Rates In Blighttown

@Heavyarms55 It really is something you have to experience yourself to really appreciate. I never understood why people went bonkers for the Soulsborne games before I tried Dark Souls, but after playing it for a bit and playing through Bloodborne I was hooked. The way the levels flow between each other, the huge variety in builds (at least in Dark Souls, Bloodborne doesn't have that much variety), the huge bossfights, the huge feeling of finally killing that boss you've been stuck on all night (or all day, or all week, or all month, ect.), the super cool lore, I don't know...it's one of the few games that can make me so furious and frustrated but never want to stop playing.

Re: Check Out Giga Wrecker, a New Puzzle Platformer from Game Freak

Something just seems... off about the look of the game. Probably because It's so zoomed out/characters are so tiny, everything just seems weird. It's a shame, the concept art they show looks good. I just wish Monolith Soft would follow suit and release a game on PC; Xenoblade X was really held back by the Wii U.

Re: Soapbox: How The Evolution Of Pokémon Can Unexpectedly Influence Play-Through Experiences

I usually just separate the competitive and casual sides of Pokemon. I only do competitive stuff on Pokemon Showdown, since it lets me have all the fun of a comp match with none of the horrible grinding required for an actual competitive team. It also enforces the Smogon tier list, which is leagues fairer than playing on console, since you have to basically bring a team of 6 legendaries/ubers to stand a chance there. When I play Pokemon on console, I just play with whatever I feel like, even if I'm playing with friends.

Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U Games of 2016 - Spring Edition

BlueNitrous

Mighty No. 9 will never actually come out, mark my words. Inafune has swindled you out of your money.
@Al_Godoy I'll bite the bait. The Division is mediocre, and isn't likely to be any better than a lot of the games on this list. Or if you just mean it's better than anything on the Wii U completely, I have to ask whether or not you have actually played a Wii U game before.

Re: Junichi Masuda Reassures Fans on New Pocket Monsters for Pokémon Sun and Moon

BlueNitrous

I think this whole "10 new Pokemon" thing is actually the right way to go. Think about it; Pokemon Black and White added over 150 new Pokemon, and everyone hated it. Everyone loves Pokemon X and Y, and thats because it only added 60-ish new Pokemon. The fans don't want new Pokemon, they want a new region with old Pokemon! I'm so glad Masuda and Game Freak have finally understood the error of their ways and can now create Pokemon games that are truly worth playing.

Re: Digital Foundry Breaks Down the Resolution and Framerate in Pokkén Tournament

BlueNitrous

Here's my obligatory "The person playing this game for the footage is bad at Pokken" comment. I know it adds nothing to the discussion, but I want to say it anyways.
I knew the game looked the teensiest bit blurry, but I don't think this holds it back too much. It's still a good time. If theres a game that's held back by being on Wii U it's almost certainly Xenoblade X, however.

Re: Community: Your Favourite 3DS Games - Fifth Anniversary Edition

BlueNitrous

So while I don't think any of those games (Retail side) are undeserving of a top 10 placement...it never sits well with me when remakes and ports make up a significant part of a list, especially when one takes up the number one spot. Don't get me wrong, OOT3D is rad as heck, and fixes a lot, but this should be about 3DS games, as in originals, rather than remakes of (then) 12 year old games. So I would personally replace those 3 games with:
Shin Megami Tensei IV
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Bravely Default
In no particular order.

Re: Review: Pokkén Tournament (Wii U)

Games in the mail, it'll be perfect for spring break next week. Did anyone else buy the Hori Pro Pad for this game? It was the same controller used in the arcade machines, it looked neato.

Re: Star Fox Zero Will Include An Invincible Mode For Inexperienced Players

BlueNitrous

Miyamoto says he doesn't want to make the game easy so everyone can complete them, and that you should feel an accomplishment for completing them. But by putting this in the game, isn't all difficulty removed? It's not like Mario where you still need to deal with platforming, you can just fly right through the stage. And it's not like anyone is playing Star Fox for the plot. So why does this mode exist? Who is going to use this?
