THQ Nordic has announced that the colourful platform-puzzle game de Blob will be making a mess on Switch both physically and digitally on 26th June.
In the game, the evil I.N.K.T. Corporation has declared that 'Colour is a Crime!', leeching Chroma City of all its beauty and interest. The race to rescue the city has just begun, and only de Blob can save the world from a black and white future with his unique abilities to colour the world back to life. We enjoyed the game when it launched on Wii around a decade ago, giving it an 8/10 in our review, so we're looking forward to seeing this remaster in action on Switch.
Here are some game features to refresh your memory:
FEATURES:
- de Blob: Flip, bounce and smash your way past the all-powerful I.N.K.T. Corporation to launch a revolution and save Chroma City from a future without colour
- Long Live Colour!: Join the Colour Revolutionaries in the resistance against Comrade Black and his diabolical array of hot plates, electric shocks, and ink turrets
- Free The Citizens: Free your friends from a black and white world by painting the city back to life as you dodge ink cannons, flatten I.N.K.T. tanks and outsmart Inky soldiers
- Multiplayer: Compete to control Chroma City in 4-player split screen in eight different multiplayer modes
- Save Your City: Paint Chroma City's towering skyscrapers, expansive bridges and massive landmarks in your own style using custom colours, patterns and soundtracks
The game is scheduled to launch for $29.99 / €29.99 when it arrives on Switch later this month.

I don't know if I want this or not. It looks alright, I guess.
I enjoyed this on the Wii but there's so many other games to play on the Switch to revisit this again.
Never played this one but did enjoy the sequel on PS3. Doesn't seem to be too pricey so may pick it up near launch. However Ys comes out just a few days later..
I'm sorry but this seems boring and slow.
I see no compelling reason to get this when Splatoon 2 is available on the platform.
Ironically though, Go Vacation is tantalising at full price precisely because Nintendo is yet to release their own Sports game for the platform. I'm pretty sure I've walked past $5 copies of Go Vacation on Wii back in the day, as I saw no appeal in them because Nintendo already had them beat with Wii Sports and Resort. If Nintendo releases a successor to Wii Sports (which could be one of the games announced at E3), then I will pass on Go Vacation once again.
Once Nintendo's covered a genre or a gameplay style, it's hard to justify forking over money for inferior alternatives.
THQ Nordic is easily my second-favorite AA publisher on Switch (behind NIS America). The range of genres and variety of games they publish is really wide. Shooters, jrpgs, adventure, platformers, action/rpgs, etc. I hope THQ Nordic eventually delivers Biomutant and the Darksiders series on Switch.
Played this one on the Wii, doubt I'll buy it again.
I played sequel years ago because it was really cheap on the PlayStation Store. It's a series that's not bad, just forgettable.
There's better things coming to Switch anyway
@Silly_G
Uh...they're not even close to being the same game. Aside from the fact that painting with bright colors is involved, in which case, Mario Paint could also be considered similar, lol.
Regardless, I am actually surprised to see this--I never thought it would surface again in a million years. The series may not be the most popular, but I found it fun and creative. Here's hoping it finds a new audience on Switch!
And then perhaps...a new entry? Who knows...
@Magician I like what THQ are bringing to the table also. I just hope soon we will start getting universal releases instead of the switch versions coming way way later.
rehash... and $30 dollars. Move along.
Happy about Battle Chasers. But, where is BioMutant and Darksiders 3 for Switch?
I really enjoyed this game way back in the Wii days. There was something very satisfying in restoring colour back to that grey world. I wouldn't mind revisiting it.
I remember really enjoying the first couple of hours of this, all those years ago. Problem was that I could stop. And quickly, it got boring pretty fast.
Can’t wait! Day one for me. I loved it on Wii so a decade later I’ll definitely pick it up again.
Yeah...I'll pass.
I adore this game! Dunno if I'll pick this up right away, but it'll probably be grabbed on sale some time.
This was a really fun game back on wii... I am looking forward to playing again!
so many fun memories with the sequel on wii
Pretty sure I could see frame drops in that trailer.
It's probably cheaper to buy a used Wii with the game.
I really enjoyed this game on the Wii and I preordered the Switch version two months ago.
I trust that the graphics will be a bit higher than 480p on the newest Nintendo console.
@Silly_G Splatoon 2 isn't a collectathon platformer. Kinda shocked you don't know that.
@Silly_G - Splatoon and De Blob are... the same? Whut?
This was a good Wii game but the graphics don't seem to be updated by any noticeable degree. Seems like a lazy port for a quick buck, but I guess if you never played the original it could be worth your money.
im not sure i'll play this for hours, . so, might be a pass for me.
I played it on Wii years ago. It is good and worth the time, but it's also a play it once and not bother again kind of game.
Okay, why didn't they package both deBlob games?
Is it my laptop or was that framerate just terrible
@ImagineerNik Yeah, it looked really rough. Also had a ton of aliasing and the textures looked pretty low-res. Not good...
I don't really know why but this just made me feel like a Super Mario Sunshine/Splatoon crossover game would be awesome. Random, I know but still...
This isn't the email as Splatoon, people
@Aozz101x There’s literally no comparison between this game and Splatoon other than the colors. Completely different game genres.
This game was loads of fun back in its own day, but.....that was a decade ago now, and wasn't such an amazing experience you want to keep reliving it. It's a shame this doesn't offer something new to make it "new" again. It's not even an "HD Remaster", it's just an old Wii game ported over.
@Nintendoforlife got it. still, might just get the wii version for de blob instead for better experience. or wait for a review on the switch version.
I’m all for wii ports on the switch, don’t he the wrong, some games were amazing to keep replaying. I’d love them to re release games that everyone enjoyed and got so many sold, like Mario Galaxy for example, we all loved that game.
@Aozz101x Yeah you could pick it up for 20 bucks or so for the Wii. But you'll need a working nunchuck as well.
The game looks really bad from the trailer, doesn't seem like they've made much of an effort at all. I played the Wii version when it came out years ago and it was an ok platformer. Liked the way more instruments would be added to the music as you add more colours to the level.
I'm going to check out the sequel, De Blob 2 on the PS3/X360 instead as it's very cheap to buy and have 2D sections included to add more variety to the game.
I hope they improved the save system.
I should be excited for this game(genre) but it just feel so blah...
It was a good game for the Wii days., but I think it needs a little more added to it to justify the reissue and the price it definitely seems dated slightly maybe a new sequel is in the works.
I thought this was a solid game on the Wii. The sequel was good as well. I’m not sure I’d pay the $30 again when I could get it for less than $10, but if you do not have a Wii or a Wii U, you’ll enjoy it. As for Splatoon, this is very different from that, and it came along a long time before the Inklings were even thought of.
One of my favorite games of all time. Played the original on the Wii and the sequel on the 360. This game is pure joy and tons of fun. I really hope that they are working on another game in the series.
This brings back memories of watching Nicktoons and seeing the commercials for this.
Wonder why they aren't packaging both games together. The first one was good but the second game is much better.
