Square Enix has been busy filing Final Fantasy and Mana trademarks for almost half of the year now and this latest one seems to be yet another sign the collection will be released here in the west. Following on from the "Collection of Mana" trademark in Japan in February, the company has now trademarked the same title for Europe.
This trademark has been previously linked to the Japan-exclusive, Seiken Densetsu Collection. This Switch release includes Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden (Final Fantasy Adventure / Mystic Quest), the sequel Seiken Densetsu 2 (Secret of Mana) and the third game Seiken Densetsu 3, which has never been localised. Perhaps we'll hear more about this recently trademarked title at this year's E3.

Yes, bring this to West! Would be awesome to have these games on my Switch in English. And um, how about Chrono Trigger?! And FF 6
Cautiously optimistic but hope this come stateside.
Cool!
@60frames-please After their disastrous PC versions, I'm not sure I trust SE with doing proper ports of Chrono Trigger and FF6 on Switch.
If they actually localize SD3, color me -very- impressed.
YES! OMG YES! About time!!!!!
Woohoo!
Oh yeah! This is a definite buy...just listen to the music for mystic quest in this trailer to get hyped:

On a side note, those faery tiddy's in the picture...🤤
It's a shame a Western version was MIA for so long, but it would be an absolutely massive thing to have this collection in English.
Now do a FF 1-6 collection, SE.
@60frames-please while they are it they could also bring FF I-V collection!
@Kochambra Hopefully they've received enough criticism that they'll make sure things are done right. They're a company, so I'd hope they want to impress gamers and get positive buzz for their classic games.
Make it happen Square Enix, either that or give us a remake of Seiken Densetsu 3 with Dragon Quest XI or Octopath Traveler style graphics.
@Balta666 Yeah, and maybe hire M2 to do it so everyone is pleased with the quality of the emulation!
Nice! Secret of Mana is still my all-time favorite Square Game! I even love the sound track! The orchestra versions are awesome!
@60frames-please They're the same company that released Switch and XBone ports of some of their most beloved games with exactly the same audio bug that had plagued PC versions ages ago, so I remain skeptical.
But who knows? Maybe they have actually learned from past mistakes. Weirder things have happened.
Finally. Let's hope the price is not as high as the one of other Square Enix re-releases, all games come in the cart and bring them home.
Why would Square file Collection of Mana trademarks in Japan in February a year and half after the game was released there?
Hope it’s the originals, not the «remastered» version.
@60frames-please Look at Square's port of Chrono Trigger to Steam and phones. It's beyond terrible. The 4:3 screen of the original has been cropped to 16:9, and all of the graphics have been mutilated beyond recognition with some sort of upscaling filter. It's frankly insulting.
YAY!!!! I come to this site everyday. Mostly looking for news that this might happen!
Would love love the mana series on Switch
Biggest question....would they translate S3? I have heard that it would be too expensive I would argue that the sales might make it worthwhile, but...hmm....
YES YES YES!!!
Please!!
@ramu-chan Yeah, they messed up ports big time in the past. Hope they change their ways!
Favorite series ever!
Yes pleaseeeeeeeee
This would be very welcome. Just ignore that hideous PS4 remake and bring the original over
Collection + Secret of Evermore please.
@eltomo YES, I would love Evermore.
I never beat that for some reason. Would like to, but don't have the time. Switch really enables me to actually play games because of the portable factor on public transport
Really hope that picture where they are all looking up at the mana seed is the cover. it's perfect.
Wait does that mean they have an english version of Seiken Densetsu 3 sweet.
Oh man if they localise SD3 I’m flippin out!
@Kochambra Their PC port of Chrono Trigger did eventually become perfectly servicable. Though, knowing SE, they'll probably just give the Switch an unpatched version of that release and bring it back up to speed with the PC release later.
Wouldn’t mind if they made Legend of Mana available as well. It was a bit different from the others but I enjoyed that one a lot too.
Happy for Mana and SE fans, but I personally am not fond of Secret of Mana. Hope you guys get a great collection though.
Inject this into my veins
Would have me soooo hyped!
While its a great collection but my only criticism on the collection is they should had Sword of Mana over the Game Boy version instead.
Please yes! I've never played these but have heard amazing things!
@Sinton This game is already out in JP, and it received high praise. I don't think these games even have 'remastered' versions yet. You can look up the screenshots, but they look good to me.
I am putting about as much faith in this being localized as Mother 3 being released in the West or Switch getting a collection of Zelda portable games (I know the latter is not even on any radar, but it would be so awesome and I CANNOT be the only person who would instantly buy said collection were it to pop up; not that I'm complaining about the gorgeous looking Link's Awakening remaster — I'm just greedy).
@link3710 I didn’t find any info about the Japanese version. Square Enix released a remaster of Secret of Mana on the PS4 that looked awful.
Even if this is digital only, I'd still very much pick it up.
@Kalmaro Even if its not stateside, least a English version is out there to either import or heck, buy digitally if you don't wanna pay whatever import fees a physical will cost or just want to play it right away.
@rdm22 Heck, since they're pretty similar to LA, I'd be surprised if they don't reuse the game engine for the LA remake to make Oracle of Ages/Seasons remakes.
Hell, maybe dive into the archives and make the 3rd canceled game in the Oracle series.
@CrimsonMoonMist Yes, at least they listened to the fan's ourage, but it's a shame how SE treats such classic games. Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI belong in any conversation about the greatest RPG of all time, and yet SE subjects them to these halfhearted porting jobs.
@Angelic_Lapras_King: That would be amazing, but isn't an impediment to that the fact that a Capcom subsidiary developed the Oracle games? Ditto Minish Cap. I don't pretend to understand how the rights to these things work, though.
@Sinton Nintendolife has a bunch of screenshots on their game page: https://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/seiken_densetsu_collection
Got Secret of Mana on iPhone ages ago. Played it a few times and called it a day.
Was only $6, doubt that is what they will try and charge on Switch.
@link3710 Yeah, found an article about the Japanese collection now, and it seems to have been a good release.
over 20 years of waiting for an official western release of SD3 a.k.a. Secret of Mana 2.
If they announce this at E3 then I will be overjoyed.
@ramu-chan there seems to be debate on Chrono Trigger. In normal 4:3 the moon isn't perfectly circular, but on pixel perfect it is. SNES native resolution wasn't as wide as 4:3 and the image was stretched on our TVs.
Never played any of the Mana games. I might get to them eventually.
I would really love if they remade Chono Trigger and FF6 in the Octopath engine.
Apparently we're getting the first half of the FF7 remake this year so maybe...
Does that mean Nintendo Switch is going to get Secret of Mana.
This would be great if they would include Seiken Densetsu 3 on there. While their porting work is shoddy at best, it would be a day one for me. The problem here is that I strongly suspect they will replace SD3 with Secret of Evermore. I honestly can't see them taking the time to translate such a large game.
I never played Secret of Mana so this is alright with me. Keep it at 20-30 bucks though for these older games.
It's a good sign...E3 announcement?
Oh wow, I completely forgot about that one with the continuous avalanche of games. Definitely a buy if it actually gets released in Europe.
I really hope this is happening, but I bet they are going to only do it as a download only in Europe
I just got here from two weeks in the future. IT'S HAPPENING.
