During an interview in February this year with Eurogamer, Respawn Entertainment's lead producer Drew McCoy said his team would "love" to bring its first-person battle royale game Apex Legends to the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
In a Wired Tech Support video posted earlier this week on YouTube, McCoy was asked once again about the possibility of Apex Legends coming to the Switch and said the team was aware of the demand for it. Here's his full response:
"If Switch was coming, we would tell you and we would blast it across the world."
“We are hearing all the Switch players who say they want the game. I can’t make any promises right now. We have a lot of things that we’re working on, so stay tuned for anything in the future. But currently, we don’t have anything to announce.”
Cross-play is also something the team is apparently looking into right now and "really care about" according to McCoy.
Would you like to see Apex Legends make the Switch? Have you played it on another platform? Tell us down below.

I don't play competitive online shooters anymore but it would be great to have Apex on Switch. Quite a few people look forward to having the chance to play this game on the go.
There's a demand? First I've heard of it. The more games the better!
This is going to be this years "FORTNITE COMING TO SWITCH AND ITS OUT NOW" announcement at E3.
Looks like fun
If this game came to the switch I would no longer have use for my ps4 besides my hockey... but I would have no more interest in nhl if I could fulfill my online fun time with my buddy in apex like we have gravitated to of recent. I’d then only ever play nhl if it came to the switch lol.
Anyways if anyone has not played apex it’s a absolute must. It’s the same style as fortnite however I did not care for that game at all.
How I describe apex is that of golden eye on a massive online battle royal level. It’s amazing.
The only thing I know about this game is annoyance, for a couple weeks every single ad I saw on Twitch was for this game and it was always significantly louder than the actual stream. It was obnoxious and distinctly made me never want to play it. As most ads do.
lol what demand?
I didn't really care for Apex.
If this game ever wants hope of overtaking Fortnite in sheer popularity, it needs to be on Switch, since that's a demographic Fortnite has that Apex currently does not. Not to mention with Fortnite being the only BR game on Switch right now they could probably benefit from it since it doesn't have to compete with the likes of BO4 Blackout, BFV Firestorm, and PUBG all in one platform. But that's up to them I guess.
Sure why not the more the merrier
The game got to 25 mil players in mere days, certainly there was a reasonable amount of demand for a switch release, whether you’re personally aware of it or not lol.
Nope I didn't ask for it, no demand from me
I like how members here think there is no demand because they didn't see it.
As for the game, it's by EA. So glad Bulletstorm is not published by EA on Switch!
meh, didnt look all that fun to me, felt like call of duty running on empty, with repetitive boring weapons. Bring the Darwin project over instead. that game is actually pretty fun.
@Chayshirin I’m still trying to figure out why PUBG never got ported from mobile to switch. Waste.
Says the development studio who said Switch couldnt run Titanfall 1.
Anyway, this is EA. It aint coming to Switch.
no, i don't play it on xbox and would not touch it on switch either. like all games from EA ;P
all i want is a proper mirrors edge successor .... the one and ONLY game from ea, which i absolutely love. i mean catalyst wasn't as good as the first game, but still ways better than that battlefield/battlefront/fifa crap. at least they could port catalyst to switch <3 that would be awesome <3
I'll start by saying that this is easily the best Battle Royale game out there with a quite brilliant and simple ping system, making it both accessible and very efficient to work together. This coupled with arguably best in class mechanics brought over from Titanfall 2 and it's no wonder the game took off. I'd definitely give it a go on Switch if it came over
Switch Pro seller right there.
Bring it plz, it’s the only reason I’m considering getting xbox just to play this and I hate xbox.
I'd rather have Titanfall 2 lol
I'd rather have on Switch that new single player Star Wars game called Fallen Order that Respawn is releasing in November for PC, XB1 abd PS4.
I want Apex Legends on the switch. It's the only game I play on my xbox lol
It’s not my style but, I know this is what all the young kidduns are playing these days.
So I’m all for it coming. But honestly they need to get a move on if they are. Don’t be like Blizzard and wait so long with Overwatch it’s not even worth it by the time you get around to realizing you should
It will be available after this year's E3 presentation.
If it needs to be a blurry mess like Fortnite don't bother.
Most not going to trade their PC (or even home console) account for that. We can Just listen to Spotify or watch Crunchyroll when away from home.
Using the time on the new StarWars Game is better use of time and money. Can put ReSpawn on the AAA map again.
@Knuckles-Fajita it's source engine. Titanfall 1,2 and apex legends are built on source. There's no native switch support, and while respawn has a source code liscense, it's not an easy amount of work. Nvidia lightspeed has ported source games to the tegra k1 and x1 but the results weren't great. Unreal and unity games coming to switch is much simpler by comparison
I haven’t played this game, but from what I’ve heard, the folks behind the game aren’t doing a very good job of keeping players engaged. Also, the updates do more harm than good. Maybe their working on stabilizing game and creating new content, before tackling a new platform.
No thanks. Not interested in this BR sorry
Sorry, Im still an overwatch pleb
Of course they’ll bring Apex to the Switch, just like they’ll bring SW: Jedi: Fallen Order.
The switch will get it when the popularity dies down, sorta like fortnite
@Baart lol it’s becauze most the people on here are close minded Nintendo fanboys. “Apex legends what’s that?”
Honestly, even though I know this game would find a good audience on Nintendo Switch, I still wouldn't play it. I played Fortnite for roughly 50 hours on Nintendo Switch, and subsequently watched my brother play it on PS4 and the difference is jarring. I can't see myself playing another version that is that far below the other one again. This is great for those who don't mind the differences though!
It would be a good one to port, but also Titanfall or Titanfall 2...that game never got enough attention.
@JR150 That's a valid point, it would likely benefit from not having to compete with the other battle royales aside from Fortnite.
I am indifferent to its presence personally since its ads on Twitch annoyed me to no end, but the sci-fi aspect is nice. I prefer that to Fortnite's "a random bunch of people fighting".
Please....no....no....NOOOO. No more electronic cancer, We have one on Nintendo Switch.
I doubt Switch can handle it... It's better looking than Fortnite and that game runs pretty poorly. That being said, I'd love. Titan Fall 2 port.
EA? No Thank you.
@super08mario Same
It looks alright. I think it has the same problem as Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, awesome fun......but only in small, small doses.
Devil's Third multiplayer is where its at!!
I'd rather have Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order if you're listening Respawn!
@TempOr Far from it. The player base is huge and the content is great. Easily the best BR game out there.
@FarkyValentine Me too but TF and Apex Legends need to be in 60fps.
Never heard much about this game, but supposedly the elitists find it more acceptable than the other Battle Royal shooters.
It is, however, an EA game, and an online one at that, so let's not get excited just yet, when the news here is that there really aren't any news.
It's up to EA to take the decision and we all know EA doesn't care about the switch. just like most american publishers,
No thanks. But I'd love to have Rogue Squadron on the switch.
People seem to have forgotten that this studio laughed about being asked if one of their games was coming to the switch. I refuse to support them, especially now that they are owned by EA. Let them perish.
