Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch 2 Games

@somnambulance 2023 was absurdly stacked yeah. I do agree that I would love updates on stuff coming out, but I guess I'm not one to stress over it I guess. Also I probably only play somewhere around 8-12 new releases a year normally, so that might be part of it too. But yeah the 2023 point makes sense. It was an insane year of quality and quantity that may not be matched for a long time, so I think that "jet lagged" feeling as you put it makes sense.

@DonnieTACO My understanding is those early milestone numbers are units shipped, not sold. Could be wrong about that though. But I don't even know what point we're discussing at this point tbh. My previous comments explain that they've clearly sold WAY over 200k units in the time frame (probably around the 2 million mark). I feel we've lost the plot a little lol. As far as why Nintendo reports what they do, as stated I really don't know. They always hold a financial report early August and they always only have numbers through June 30th. This is what they've done for years. That's all I've got.

@somnambulance I can see where you're coming from. I just am shocked you say you don't have stuff coming out you're interested in. Personally I've struggled to keep up with all the stuff coming out the last few years and still have so many I want to go back and play. Though I do overall agree that Nintendo's last year (2024) wasn't very good though.

@rjejr Yeah but I redid the math and it's definitely way over a million since then. Considering since June 30th they've sold 480k in Japan, and Japan makes up less than a quarter of their console sales, they probably sold at around 2 million total worldwide in that untracked time frame. At least that's what makes sense to me, but I would love to here your perspective if it differs.

@DonnieTACO firstly, I edited my last comment to prove what I'm saying in case you wanted to see that. Their cap at 6 million is because they don't have solid numbers past June 30th. This is pretty consistent for their investor meetings in early August, as those numbers always are as of June 30th. But they can confidently say they've passed six million since, even without solid numbers outside of Japan. Hope that makes some sence. Sales numbers tend to lag behind a bit, so their date is old as it always is.

@DonnieTACO 3rd paragraph. Also @rjejr is misunderstanding the numbers. They only have solid numbers through June 30th. The over 6 million number is just them estimating that they've sold at least 200k units in the past 3 weeks which they obviously have. Pretending the new console has only sold 200k in the last 3 weeks is a little silly and clearly not understanding what it's saying.

Edit: As of July 24th, it had sold 1.75 million units in Japan alone, 480k above where it stood at June 30th. So realistically worldwide it's probably at least a million above where it was on June 30th.
